Fresh Minty Adventure
is a platformer starring Minty, and a sorta-sequel to Minty Fresh Adventure!.
After being found and rescued in the previous game. Minty noticed her valuable socks were missing, and goes back to the Cave of Wisdom to recover them.
Tropes:
- Bears Are Bad News: Subverted. When Minty encounters the Ursa Minor in the Cave of wisdom, it looks like he's ready for another brawl, but he just smiles and gives Minty a ride.
- Beary Friendly: The Ursas are much more receptive and friendly, thanks in due part to Colgate's actions in the prior game.
- Big Bad: Princess Arachne. She was originally responsible for capturing Minty to begin with, just so she could have her socks. It's cold underground.
- Canon Foreigner: Minty herself. She hasn't appeared in G4 originally, and this fangame gives her the G4 redesign as well as the spotlight.
- Contrasting Sequel Protagonist: Colgate was a good-natured but determined pony who wanted and embarked on a quest to change her destiny. Minty on the other hand, is a good-natured but scatterbrained pony who just wants her socks.
- Collision Damage: Played completely straight if the enemy isn't eating candy.
- Goomba Stomp: Like in the previous game, this works for multiple enemies, but not all. Also, the effects for them in the Cave of Wisdom, get explosions when done. This is the only thing Minty can do to defend herself. The owlbears can be defeated by jumping on their heads. The skeleton ponies can be disassembled by jumping on them, but will reassemble later, unless frozen by a Basilisk at that point they stay frozen permanently.
- Gotta Catch 'Em All: Minty's missing socks.
- Hearts Are Health: Three pink Heart Symbols at the bottom of the screen are Minty's Life Meter.
- His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Minty mockingly nicknames the grumpy Canterlot Royal Guardsman "Captain Bringdown". Turns out that actually is his name.
- Idle Animation: Minty blinks if she doesn't otherwise move.
- Immediate Sequel: This game takes place right after Minty Fresh Adventure, with Minty returning to the Cave of Wisdom to retrieve her socks.
- Insect Queen: Suberted with the Spider Princess, Arachne. Her mother plays this straight.
- Shout-Out: Minty's general gameplay style is very similar to the NES title Little Nemo: The Dream Master.
- Spider People: The Spider Princess, Arachne, human upper body and head and a spider lower body. Her mother however, is a full-blown giant spider.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Trixie wears one of these since she's out on the lamb due to the Canterlot Royal Guard getting wise of her shady operation from the prior game. She goes by the very not creative name of "Jean Lemoustache".
- Power Up Mount: By feeding enemies her Candy mints, Minty can take control of animals and ride them.
- Promoted to Playable: Minty, the Damsel in Distress of Minty Fresh Adventure, takes the spotlight in this game.
- Taken for Granite: The Basilisk enemies from the first game are back. They freeze Minty in stone upon contact, which in certain situations can cause her to fall into a pit. She can befriend them with Mints, at which point she can use them to attack and turn enemies to stone.
- Tastes Like Friendship: Minty can only move around and jump on her own. She has to use her candy mints to subdue enemies and take control of them in order to attack.
