This troper is currently at school in California, but is a Pittsburgher by birth and has spent most of his life in Massachusetts. Studying to be a Badass Preacher, or possibly a Good Shepherd. Likes Joss Whedon, the blues, literature of various kinds, The Iliad, Catch-22, and Alan Moore. As well as Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, and John Calvin. If he can't stand one thing, it's a Sinister Minister. He thinks Fred Phelps should try reading the gospels.
Some tropes that apply:
- Team Dad to some extent.
- Gentle Giant: six feet, two inches, and two hundred thirty pounds of nonviolent non-fury. But I do like football and a couple of combat sports (boxing, MMA).
- Too Dumb to Live on occasion. On other occasions, not quite so much. Sometimes I might even be The Smart Guy.
- Epic Rocking: I love me some Led Zeppelin, and they sure did it.
- All Drummers Are Animals: averted. I play, but I'm probably the most relaxed and low-key member of the band. Speaking of which, I think John Bonham is unfairly accused of this. More of a Boisterous Bruiser in my opinion.
- Deadpan Snarker, very occasionally. I try.
- Loners Are Freaks: used to be relevant. Not so much anymore, I'm glad to say.
- All Love Is Unrequited. Sadly true at the moment. In the words of Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes, "I'm stuck, I'm stuck, I'm stuck on this lovely girl!"
- All Germans Are Nazis: since I'm about half German, und ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch, this one bothers me. Especially when someone construes German as Black Speech.
