• Beam Me Up, Scotty!: The trailer contains the tag line "well behaved women don't make history" when the famous quote is "well behaved women seldom make history".
• Dawson Casting:
  • Christina Ricci at 37 plays Zelda starting at 17. CGI is used to de-age her. Justified since she intends to play Zelda across several decades too.
  • Likewise David Hoflin at 38 plays Scott at 22, but of course will play him across his life.
• Fake American: David Hoflin is a Swedish-born Australian, playing the Minnesota native F Scott Fitzgerald.
• Follow the Leader: After the series was announced, two other biopics about Zelda were greenlit; one starring Jennifer Lawrence and one with Scarlett Johansson.
• Playing Against Type: Christina Ricci has joked that at the age of 37, this is her first romantic lead - having got famous for playing Creepy Children, Haunted Heroine or Fille Fatale roles.
• Promoted Fanboy: Christina Ricci says she read Therese Anne Fowler's book about Zelda, asked her agent who had the rights so she could audition and when she discovered no one did - decided to produce it herself.
• Separated-at-Birth Casting: David Hoflin has an uncanny resemblance to the real F Scott Fitzgerald.
• What Could Have Been: Amazon said they renewed the series based on a "great pitch" for Season 2, but then changed their minds and cancelled it. Pre-production had already begun when it was cancelled.
