Trivia / Resident Evil 4 (Remake)

Go To

  • Author's Saving Throw: The developers revealed in various interviews, and later confirmed in the "Chainsaw Demo", that non-combat quick time events would be scrapped in the remake, acknowledging that they were a frequent complaint in the original Resident Evil 4.
  • Approval of God: Shinji Mikami reportedly enjoyed the remake.
  • Content Leak:
    • The game's existence was leaked two years prior to its June 2022 reveal by Dusk Golem, mere days after the Resident Evil 3 (Remake) had been released and only two months before Resident Evil Village had even been revealed, and was also present in the Capcom data leaks later that year. Further leaks resulted in it being one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming of the early 2020s.
    • Physical copies leaked two weeks before the release date. Some video clips were posted online days later.
  • Dawson Casting: Then roughly 30/31-year-old Genevieve Buechner and 24/25-year-old Ella Freya respectively lend their voice and likeness to the 20-year-old Ashley Graham.
  • Dummied Out:
  • Fake American: With the exception of Leon, the new voice cast is entirely consists of Canadian actors playing their characters with American accents.
  • Meme Acknowledgement:
  • Missing Trailer Scene: The reveal trailer featured a scene of Ashley seemingly making an escape attempt and fleeing through the woods. This isn't seen in the final game; like in the original, Ashley is first seen in-person when Leon rescues her from the church.
  • No Port For You: The game wasn't released for the Xbox One.
  • The Other Darrin: As with previous remakes of the series, the original cast was completely replaced with new actors:
  • Parody Assistance: Capcom would release three spoof trailers of a fictional World Masterpiece Theater entry with Nippon Animation's help as a way to promote the game.
  • Refitted for Sequel: An unused concept for Resident Evil Village was to have Ada present in the story having infiltrated the region using a local disguise, which in that case would have been a Plague Doctor suit. This idea would come to fruition in this game with the Separate Ways DLC in its intro showing that Ada infiltrated the Los Illuminados castle by disguising herself as one of the cult's nuns with their full-face covering white robes.
  • Role Reprise: Lily Gao reprises her role as Ada Wong, following her portrayal of the character in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. In turn, she replaces Jolene Andersen, who voiced Ada in the Resident Evil 2 (Remake).
  • Trolling Creator:
    • In the original game, the dog that helps you fight El Gigante appears caught in a bear trap very early on, almost immediately after the first Ganado encounter. In the same place in the remake, you instead find a dog's corpse in the bear trap - but it's not the same dog. The dog that you can save has instead been relocated to the village chief's house.
    • In the village, there is a tower near the town hall that is subject of several strategies by climbing up the ladder and fighting off climbing Ganados to survive the village battle scene. In the remake, old-time players attempting to repeat this strategy will be inconvenienced by the fact that the floor gives way to Leon, and he has to fight the villagers at the ground floor again.
