- Absurdly Short Production Time: Gaiden only had about six months of development time. Though given their penchant for working on multiple projects simultaneously, it shouldn't come as a surprise that familiar assets and isms pop up (e.g., the Mortal Reversal being lifted directly from Lost Judgment).

- Akame's actress and face model First Summer Uika is a singer, which plays into Akame's backstory as well as her very impressive karaoke performance of Like A Butterfly.
- Celebrity Voice Actor: Kim Jae-wook, a South Korean actor/singer, as Homare Nishitani III. He mentioned in various Sega video interviews that the game's his first job for voice acting in Japan.
- Darkhorse Casting: At the time of his casting, Tyler Yamabe, the English Dub voice of Homare Nishitani III, has a portfolio largely made up of Narration for various eSports Organizations as opposed to the more extensive resumes held by some of the video game and television veterans that make up the rest of the cast.
- The Other Darrin: In the English dub:
- Yong Yea replaces Darryl Kurylo as Kazuma Kiryu.
- Tim Friedlander replaces Roger Craig Smith as Daigo Dojima.
- Preview Piggybacking: Although treated as a full, mainline entry, it features a demo of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to give players an early taste of that game.
- Promoted Fanboy:
- Yong Yea admitted on his Youtube channel that he's a longtime fan of the Like a Dragon series and idolizes Kazuma Kiryu in particular, considering it a huge honor to be given the opportunity to voice the man himself.
- Having won a promotional audition contest, Kson On Air, a streamer and Virtual Youtuber signed on with VShojo, is featured in the game as one of the hostesses Kiryu can chat up. Kson has been a megafan of the Like a Dragon series for years, and has an unabashed crush on Kiryu, herself.
- First Summer Uika, a singer, actress, and TV/radio personality, first became a fan with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and without telling her agency, auditioned to be a hostess in the same audition contest Kson attended. Unknown to Uika, she was already being considered for the role of Akame in Gaiden, which she gladly accepted.
- Screwed by the Lawyers: Daytona USA 2 has been retitled “Sega Racing Classic 2”, likely to avoid legal issues surrounding the Daytona license.
- Word of God: During a promotional event for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the game's writer and the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama has confirmed the popular fan theory that Hanawa is actually Yu Morinaga, who has actually survived his off-screen death in Yakuza 5.

- Prior to playing Kihei Hanawa, Hiroki Tochi previously voiced Yu Morinaga in Yakuza 5, and by extension, Matsubara Chuji in Like a Dragon: Ishin!. Word of God reveals that's because Hanawa is Morinaga.
- Before playing Boss, Ikkyu Juku previously voiced the owner of Bar Siren in Lost Judgment.

- Before taking up the mantle of Kazuma Kiryu, Yong Yea previously voiced Yasutaka Shirakaba in The Kaito Files.

- Kirk Thornton previously voiced Kaoru Ichinose in Judgment, Toki in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, and the Pocket Circuit Fighter in Yakuza: Like a Dragon before playing the Head Priest here.
- Haruka's new English voice actress is Xanthe Huynh, who previously voiced Linnote in Lost Paradise, as well as Kyoko Amasawa in Lost Judgment.
