- Troubled Production: In a 2017 interview for Yakuza 6, series writer Yokoyama briefly touched upon the issues that 4 faced in its production. He specifically mentions how, as a result of spending too much time on Akiyama's section, Tanimura's section had to be rushed and Kiryu's had to be altered to transition more smoothly into the finale.
