Trivia / Jeff Dunham

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: He was loved by Comedy Central back in the late-2000s. They even produced his first at least 7 specials and a season of a TV series. His Christmas special is even ran on repeat on Christmas Day all day, though they have yet to upgrade it to the HD version for some reason after 12 years.
  • Banned in China: According to Jeff, Achmed the Dead Terrorist can't even be mentioned by name on any show he performs in Malaysia. But that's okay, he found a way around it.
  • Creator Backlash: In 2018, Jeff released a video revealing that Achmed's predecessor was a skeletal Osama bin Laden, remarking that just after 9/11 all anyone in the United States wanted to hear was the sentence "Osama bin Laden is dead". At the very beginning of the video, a line of text says that he has no idea what he was thinking when he decided that was a good idea.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Most likely due to Jeff's divorce from his now ex-wife, the Amazon Prime streaming version of Spark of Insanity cuts the Cold Open of him in bed with his wife, Peanut, Walter, and José. Luckily, you can find Blu-Rays and DVDs that have it, but still.
  • The Merch: Jeff sells a doll version of himself called Little Jeff, along with an instructional DVD on ventriloquism. He's also performed with this doll (in Unhinged in Hollywood, for example) and gives it a sarcastic and disgusted personality—like Peanut, Little Jeff is completely aware of his nature as a ventriloquist's dummy, and can't believe Dunham has the audacity to sell him for $75.
    Little Jeff: What a rip-off!
  • Prop Recycling: In All By Myselves, Jeff tells the story of how he had Achmed's head cast by a Hollywood special effects artist. When Jeff went to pick it up the artist mentioned that he would need big eyes to fill the sockets and handed a pair he had lying around to Jeff. Jeff couldn't put his finger on where they were from. The Artist said he had them lying around since he finished work on Mars Attacks! It's true—go on and take a look at Achmed in the page photo, we'll wait. You'll never see him quite the same way again.
