Creative Differences: Hayao Miyazaki, who worked on the show as a storyboarder and animator, did not like Takahata's direction with the anime and left 15 episodes into production.

In the European Portuguese dub for the anime, the main character is named "Ana Silvestre". She's voiced by Emília Silvestre in the dub.
In the French dub, Gilbert Blythe is voiced by Gilbert Lachance.
Died During Production: Marilla's Japanese voice actress died shortly before the anime's ending.
Foreign Dub as Basis: According to this article, the English dub for Akage no Anne used the German dub as their basis, complete with dubbing the German dub's opening and ending themes. All other European dubs of the series were also based on the German dub.
Keep Circulating the Tapes: While the original Japanese version is extremely easy to find, the South African produced English dub was lost to the public for years (in fact, the videos on YouTube of said dub are region-locked if you live in the US and Canada). Fortunately, they are available on some upload sites.
No Export for You: The 1979 anime series, while very popular in Japan and most of Europe and Latin America, has never had an English release in America or, even more shockingly, in Canada, despite the international renown Isao Takahata amassed in the succeeding years (of course, like Future Boy Conan, this is a Nippon Animation series, made before Studio Ghibli even existed). It's possible this may have been due to the popularity of the '80s CBC version. There is an English dub of the show, but it never made it to North America. The only way for Canadian viewers to see the show (legally) was in French, starting with a 1989 broadcast on Radio-Canada.
Rina Hidaka took over the role of Anne from World Masterpiece Theater mainstay Eiko Yamada for 2009's Konnichiwa Anne: Before Green Gables. Yamada's involvement in Before Green Gables was limited to narration for a series preview.
In the Persian dub, Nasrallah Madqalchi voiced the narrator. However, when the series was being re-broadcast, Javid Azad took over as the narrator even though the rest of the cast stayed the same.
The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The first few episodes were edited by Isao Takahata into a Compilation Movie back in 1989, intended for a theatrical release. The film would ultimately never see the light of day until 2010 when Studio Ghibli picked up the rights for a limited theatrical release and a home video release.
Tourist Bump: While the original book was already well-regarded in Japan after it was first translated and released there, the anime is widely credited for inspiring numerous Japanese tourists to visit Prince Edward Island, where the story is set.
Uncredited Role: Only four actors were named in the South African English dub, with the rest being unnamed because of a policy SABC enforced to not credit actors in their dubbing productions.
The anime series, regarded by many as a classic in its own right, was popular enough for Anne herself to be featured in the studio's own official English logo, alongside Rascal the Raccoon.
