Shout Out / Urrezko Kaiola

Go To

Urrezko Kaiola contains a whole host of references:

  • Miscellaneous:
    • Abby's early appearances are associated musically with the main theme of Doki Doki Literature Club!. Given that both Abby and Monika from DDLC are sentient Artificial Intelligence who flirt with players, it's a thematically appropriate choice.
    • In chapter 4, right after asking the player what the music that's playing in the quiz level isnote , Zelatatu says, "But first, we need to talk about... never mind."
    • The quiz is full of references, including how many Animorphs books there were, and how many seasons of Ninjago were released before it was cancelled.note
    • In chapter 5, Amets begins to sing The Final Countdown.
  • Team C Studios Adventure (the author's previous work):
    • Lance is a Canon Immigrant from the series, and he looks much the same as he did in Team CStudios Adventure: Exploration. He's still an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain and he still tries to stop the party from taking a boat to progress further.
    • Abby's skills and personality are heavily adapted from Alanna from Exploration, the only major difference between the two being that Alanna is antagonistic. Although that might change for Abby by the end.
    • Alanna's appearance, on the other hand, seems to have heavily influenced Iklusea.
    • Like every single protagonist in that series, Haizea in Urrezko Kaiola gains a Golden Super Mode through Heroic Willpower. With a twist that she's a villain (or at least an Anti-Villain).
  • Five Nights at Freddy's:
    • All of the songs that contain hidden Morse code are the Five Nights fan songs by TheLivingTombstone.
    • The Nightmare Realm in chapter 5 is based upon the Glitch World from Five Nights at Freddy's World, including a warning by a character to "not go more than three layers down."
    • In addition, Kara's third battle in Chapter 5 uses a remix of Stone Cold, the final boss theme from the same game.
    • Lehiakide has a skill called Backup Bash, which inherits its name and Powerful, but Inaccurate nature from Five Nights at Fuckboy's.
  • SiIvaGunner:
    • The theme for the broken islands segment in Chapter 1 (and subsequent segments later on) is The Flintstones theme, and the track title is "Grand Places".
    • The battle theme against clones sent by the other avatars in Chapter 5 is a remix of mm2wood.mid.
  • Super Paper Mario:
    • Chapter 3 contains three remixes of songs from the Super Paper Mario soundtrack.
    • In addition to having a remix of its theme, the Hotel Kaiola bears more than a slight resemblance to Merlee's Mansion, right down to having a Faux Affably Evil shapeshifter in charge of the place.
    • The first two fights against Kara use a remix of Fracktail's theme. Both Kara and Fracktail are Artificial Intelligence characters who guard a dangerous artifact.
  • Touhou Project:
    • Appearance-wise, Izoztutako greatly resembles Cirno.
    • Chapter 4 contains a lot of Touhou remixes, comprising most of that chapter's soundtrack.
      • Chapter 5 contains a few more remixes for good measure.
    • In Ch. 4, you're fighting a bunch of fairy Mooks while airborne, just like most of the mainline Touhou games.
    • A boss of Chapter 5, Iklusea, closely resembles Remilia Scarlet.
  • Danganronpa:
