This page is for the Japanese Manga series “Fly Me to the Moon” (also known as Tonikaku Kawaii/トニカクカワイイ or TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You) by Kenjiro Hata and its animation, not the 2008 animated film of the same name, or the song popularized by Frank Sinatra.

Manga

    Manga
  • In the first chapter, Nasa tells his teacher about "perfect superman" who have surpassed emotions, making a Kinnikuman reference. The reference is not included in the anime.
  • Chapter 3 of the manga is named (in reference to the marriage procedure) "This is simpler than making a contract with Kyuubey, but more serious than becoming a magical girl", in a reference to Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
  • In Chapter 9, Sazae Fuguta, Hana Nono, Homare Kagayaki, Saaya Yakushiji and Hugtan as well as Misae, Shin and Himawari are seen in the bathhouse.
  • In Chapter 10, there's a panel featuring Lum, Shinobu and Ryuunosuke
  • In Chapter 14, Charlotte holds a sword that looks suspiciously identical to the Dragonslayer from Berserk.
  • In Chapter 39, Kaname explains all the innovations made by Nasa to her family's bathhouse and even took the time comparing him to Tony Stark.
  • In the first page of Chapter 48, Koro-sensei from Assassination Classroom can be seen in the background of the teacher's lounge.
  • In Chapter 55, visitors to the haunted mansion include Yumeko Jabami and Mary Saotome from Kakegurui.
  • Also in Chapter 55, the space-themed ride is a clear reference to Star Wars, with the name in similar fonts, the hyperspace jump effect, and a character resembling Princess Leia.
  • One of the theme park rides shown in chapter 56 features a logo very similar to that of One Piece, and is named "Pirate of Jump" (after Shonen Jump, where One Piece is published).

  • Once again in Chapter 56, two robots resembling BB-8 and R2-D2 can be seen in the background.
  • In Chapter 57, two people can be seen who are dressed as Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen. In the same chapter, Taniguchi's shirt has the Vault Boy from Fallout on it.
  • In Chapter 106's cover page, Tsukasa is dressed as Aerith from Final Fantasy VII, and is standing in the latter's church. The chapter itself includes several references to the actual game, such as just stopping short of referring to Aerith by name.
  • In Chapter 129, Aya finds a mystical arrow in the haunted mansion. It looks identical to a Stand Arrow from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
