Rave Warriors

    Haru

Haru Glory

Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki (JP), Ayako Kawasumi (JP - child), Yuri Lowenthal (EN)

The Rave Master himself, a boy from small-town Garage Island who was chosen to use the holy power of the Rave Stones to destroy the evil Dark Brings and bring peace to the world. He is kind and pure-hearted to an absolute fault, always following the advice of his big sister, Cattleya. He calls upon the power of Rave through his sword, the Ten Powersnote , which can assume a total of ten different forms with their own unique powers.

Ten Powers Sword (Ten Commandments)

  • Dual Wielding: Blue Crimson splits Haru's sword into a pair, though it's still just one form.
  • Dub Name Change: Its original Japanese name is the "Ten Commandments", which was changed to "Ten Powers Sword" in the English manga, and "Decaforce Sword" in the anime dub.
  • Fire/Ice Duo: Blue Crimson, which harnesses the powers of ice and fire, respectively.
  • Fragile Speedster: Silfarion turns Haru into this, giving him Super-Speed that lets him slash the opponent seven times within a single moment, but also making himself and his attacks much lighter.
  • Having a Blast: Explosion is capable of doing Exactly What It Says on the Tin: create explosions when swung.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: Ravelt, the Ten Powers' final and ultimate form, can only be accessed not only after Haru learns the previous nine forms, but also when Musica and Niebel reforge the sword with Etherion-imbued ore and a drop of silver from the Silver Ray. Shiba also has his own version of the sword's ultimate form, Star Raver.
  • Morph Weapon: The Ten Powers is otherwise known as the Ten Form Sword, which changes into ten different forms depending on Rave's power.
  • Necessary Drawback: A few of the sword's forms have disadvantages to balance out their powers: Explosion deals great damage to enemies, but also damages the user if mishandled; Silfarion sacrifices power for speed; and Gravity Core can cut through extremely hard materials, but is incredibly heavy.
  • Power Nullifier: Eisenmeteor and Rune Save have this ability, to different degrees: the former can slice through magical defenses, and the latter can temporarily seal Elie's Etherion powers.
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: Eisenmeteor is the sword's ordinary form when not channeling Rave, and is by all rights just a regular metal blade that anyone can carry. Ravelt replaces it once Haru acquires it.

    Elie

Elie

Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (JP), Michelle Ruff (EN)

An amnesiac girl who joins Haru on his travels in the hopes of recovering her lost memories. She is cheerful and spunky, and has a penchant for gambling. She fights with a pair of Tonfa Blasters, but her true power is the ultimate magic known as Etherion, which was sealed within her for unknown reasons. More mysteriously, she bears an uncanny resemblance to Resha Valentine, the creator of the Rave Stones who supposedly died fifty years ago.

    Plue

Plue

Voiced by: Yukiji (JP - anime), Saori Goto (JP - Fairy Tail x Rave), Mona Marshall (EN)

The Rave Bearer, a dog(?) of unknown age and gender who faithfully guides the Rave Master on his search for the holy stones. He doesn't do much as far as guiding them, but he does occasionally help either Haru or Elie when they're in a tight spot.

    Musica

Hamrio Musica

Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo (JP), Doug Erholtz (EN)

The street-smart leader of the Silver Rhythm Gang, and the sole surviving relative of the legendary blacksmith Galein Musica, his grandfather. He is a Silverclaimer, an alchemist who can manipulate silver, which makes him one of the more capable fighters of the Rave Warriors.

    Griff

Griffon Kato

Voiced by: Katsuya Shiga (JP), Tom Kenny (EN - anime), Randy Montgomery (EN - games)

A strange blue jellyfish-like something-or-other, known as "Griff" for short. He is recruited by Elie to escort the Rave Warriors on their journey, and ends up sticking around with the group. He is most loyal to Plue, who met him before finding Haru. Griff is supposedly an expert cartographer, and has a hobby for peeping on Elie.

Tanchimo

Voiced by: Soichiro Tanaka (JP)

Griff's trusty horse(?) who pulls the Rave Warrior's cart.

  • Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit": He is a horse because he pulls a cart and eats carrots. The fact that he looks like a purple, head-wagging rabbit with frog lips who runs like an emu is just a technicality, honest.

    Let

Let Dahaka

Voiced by: Takehiro Murozono (JP), Doug Stone (EN)

A member of the Dragon Race, a tribe of demi-human "sentinoids" with the power of dragons. He initially opposes Haru as one of Demon Card's Five Palace Guardians, purely out of interest for a challenging fight rather than out of any loyalty to the organization, but soon changes sides after being impressed by Haru's pure heart and desire to protect the world.

  • Middle Name Basis: As revealed in his battle against Uta, "Let" is actually his middle name. His full name is Jaava Let Dahaka, the Dragon King.

    Julia

Julia Line Dragoon

Voiced by: Kyoko Namekawa (JP - Fairy Tail x Rave)

Let's aggressively violent yet deeply loving girlfriend, also a member of the Dragon Race. Initially believed to have been killed by Jegan to spite Let, Julia actually had her death faked by Jegan so he could keep her all to himself, leaving her trapped in the form of a dragon under his control. Once freed by Let, she returns to normal and joins Haru's team.

    Ruby

Ruby

Voiced by: Yukiji (JP - anime), Shiori Izawa (JP - Fairy Tail x Rave), Bob Glouberman (EN)

A penguin sentinoid who inherited a large sum of money and giant floating casino from his late father, Pawl. He is interested in rare and unusual treasures, including the Rave Stones, and ends up sponsoring Haru's group when they help stop him from funding Pumpkin Doryu's criminal organization. He becomes the Rave Warriors' first safe magic user after Sieg reveals he has the gift, but he's generally rather useless.

    Belnika

Belnika

A sweet, somewhat timid girl who underwent experiments in order to artificially gain the power of Etherion. While the attempt failed, she managed to acquire some powerful magic nonetheless. She is initially duped into working for Hardner of the Blue Gardians before meeting Haru, who exposes Hardner's evil and sways her to his side.

  • Heel Realization: She's fully convinced by the Blue Guardians' Number Two that she's helping them fight for world peace until she sees the Rave Master himself fighting to oppose them, which quickly leads her to discover she's on the wrong side.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: She is easily duped into thinking the Blue Guardians are good guys to the point of overlooking their Obviously Evil actions, and nearly convinces herself with circumstancial evidence that Haru must be evil for invading their fortress. While it only takes recognizing Haru as the Rave Master for her to realize her mistake about him, she still doesn't fully grasp the villains' true intentions until Hardner flat-out tells her.

Others

    Shuda

Shuda

Voiced by: Toshihiko Seki (JP), Crispin Freeman (EN)

Dark Bring: Full Metal, Valsyar Flame, Ballettänzer Zeffrea

A bounty hunter turned general of Demon Card who has a tedious friendship with Haru's father, Gale Glory. He joined Demon Card to

  • An Arm and a Leg: He chooses to cut off his left arm rather than let Haru save him (though he survives anyway). Near the end of the manga, he's about to cut off his right after having found himself in the near-exact same position again, until Haru gives him a new reason to live.
  • Artificial Limbs: He gets a prosthetic replacement for the arm he cut off during his battle with Haru.
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: This affects both his Dark Brings: "Valsyar Flame" is meant to be "Waltzer Flame", and "Ballettänzer Zeffrea" is "Ballettänzer Flare".
  • Bounty Hunter: Before joining Demon Card, Shuda was one of many bounty hunters on the prowl for Gale Glory, which is how they first met.
  • Brought Down to Badass: His second Dark Bring is destroyed when he tries to use it against Lucia, but his skill with the sword is so great that he's still as capable of a fighter as he ever was, being one of the few to defeat one of the Four Great Demon Lords in the Final Battle and survive without being brought Back from the Dead.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: He becomes one of Haru's allies after losing and surviving his Disney Villain Death, though not to the point where he officially joins his team.
  • Discard and Draw: He goes through a total of three Dark Brings across the series, giving his first to one of his underlings because he was receiving a better one, and replacing it with a third when that gets destroyed.
  • Disney Villain Death: Subverted. He lets himself fall from his airship after his second battle with Haru, but he lives. Somehow.
  • Dub Name Change: His Ballettänzer Zeffrea is called "Geocon Flare" in the dub.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: His original Dark Bring is Full Metal, but he's never seen using it since he hands it off to Feber.
  • Fiery Redhead: A Hot-Blooded redhead with fire powers to match.
  • Four-Star Badass: He is a general in the Demon Card, and he proves his mettle by giving Haru a tough Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: He fights side-by-side with the main heroes during the Final Battle.
  • Having a Blast: His third and final Dark Bring, Ballettänzer Zeffrea, lets him create an explosion at any point in the world so long as he knows the coordinates. He also isn't afraid to use it on himself when Haru thinks getting close enough to him will psyche him out of doing it.
  • I Gave My Word: He continues to stick by Haru after being defeated because Gale made him swear to protect his son.
  • Playing with Fire: He specializes in fire-based Dark Brings: his Valsyar Flame sets things on fire that can't be put out unless totally submerged in water, while his Ballettänzer Zeffrea is more of the Having a Blast variety.
  • Gratuitous German: Both his Dark Brings have German words in their names: "Valsyar" comes from "Waltzer", meaning "waltz", and "Ballettänzer" means "ballerina".
  • No One Should Survive That!: The guy survives a fall at over 1,000 feet with an arm lopped off. To this day, there is no indicator for how this is possible.
