Protagonists

    Anu

Dr. Anuradha Dhar, .PhD

Better-er of Worlds (You!)

A scientist working for Atlas who's on the verge of creating a device that replicates the power of a Siren but without casualties. After freeing some jabbermen and an experiment that still isn't finished, she gets fired from Atlas by her boss. She's also Octavio's adopted sister.
  • Dream Sequence: While she's being operated at Tediore's table, she begins having visions and conversations with something trapped inside of the Green Shard. The sequence has her on the body of a jabberman during her tiredness-induced mistreatment of Phuong, then on Octavio's body reliving her splitting with Octavio.
  • Establishing Character Moment: She's introduced freeing some jabbermen as a sign of protest towards experimentation with animals. By the end of the chapter, this has nasty consequences for her.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Responsible Sibling to Octavio's Foolish Sibling. For starters, at the beginning of the story she's working for Atlas. This gets deconstructed as the story progresses.
  • Insistent Terminology: It's a device, not a gun. This causes her problems with her boss.
  • Percussive Maintenance: How she manages to make her device work. A screen showcasing the device in question is shown, and you smack it, trying to find the sweet spots.
  • Secret Test of Character: Her Dream Sequence puts her on the receiving end of one. She needs to accept the flaws of her past in order to become one with the Shard.

    Octavio

Octavio Wallace-Dhar

Future Mogul (Also You!)

Anu's adopted brother. Aspirant to fame and fortune.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Gets distracted by shiny tech and high-class stuff easily. During the assault on Tediore ship's bridge, he gets distracted too many times to count by Caldwell's custom, Eridium-powered ECHOnet device]].
  • Establishing Character Moment: Gets the credits part of the intro, walking from the street, saluting several people.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Foolish Sibling to Anu's Responsible Sibling. For starters, at the beginning of the story she's working for Atlas. This gets deconstructed as the story progresses.

    Fran

Francine Miskowicz

Froyo Queen (Also You!)

The owner of Fran's Frogurt, Rhys' favorite Frogurt shop which was decimated during Maliwan's invasion of Promethea.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: Didn't survive the crash of Tediore's ship, as seen when Anu and Octavio deliver flowers to her memorial tomb.
  • An Ice Person: Has a freezing ray on her personal vehicle.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Not that Sponsor Bot deserved what he got, but after Fran is reminded of her debt, she enters into rage mode and breaks Sponsor Bot's screen. She's seen regretting her actions soon afterwards.
  • Rage Breaking Point: During her introduction segment, she breaks Sponsor Bot after one too many rage-inducing comments.

Supporting characters

    Phuong

Your partner in crim... Science!

Anu's co-worker on Atlas who helps her with her experiments. After Tediore invades Atlas's ship, she helps Anu to escape into Promethea.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's unclear if she survived Tediore's attack on Atlas's ship. Afterwards she only appears in a flashback during Anu's conversations with the Shard.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She can't help but be a bit of a dick regarding Anu's antics.

    TIMM-E

Eager, Willing. Ergonomic.

Rhys's personal robotic assistant. Doubles as a chair.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Introduced overhearing a conversation between Anu and Phuong. Afterwards he notices Anu that Rhys was displeased with her antics and plans to fire her.

    Papa Girardi
A cook who's also an acquaintance of Octavio. Speaks with something resembling an Italian accent.

    Radon
A demolitions expert midget. Also acquaintance of Octavio.
  • Establishing Character Moment: During Octavio's introduction segment, he contacts him via ECHOnet offering him to go eat some tacos. Just as he's finishing a demolition job. The explosion can be heard through the device.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: He carries several grenades with him and is seen throwing them with gusto.

    L0U13

Killer. Friend.

An assasination bot who's hard-wired to kill. Speaks with a british-like accent.
  • Catchphrase: After a suggestion from Octavio, he picks this after his assasinations:
    "You just got L-0-U-1-3'd."
  • Consummate Professional: He's hardwired to kill the victims from his contracts. This mission takes precedence over everything.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Surprises Octavio by hiding in a dark alley. Then they discuss Forge's Dirty Thirty and how worthwhile is to get into that list.
  • Exposition Fairy: Explains important things about Promethea and Tediore as well as assessing how close Fran, Anu and Octavio are as a team.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Puts himself in harms way to protect Octavio from Tediore fire, getting his head chopped in the process. He then gets blown up by a grenade just as the door to the bridge is closed.

    Sponsor Bot
A Tediore appliance that helps Fran get her anger in check... or induces it.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Starts talking after Fran fails to open her Frogurt store, congratulating her on reaching 90 days without being enraged.

    Lor
See the Atlas page (under Lorelei) for tropes.

    Rhys Strongfork

The "Cool" CEO (Not you!)

See the Atlas page for tropes.

    Diamond Danielle

Real Thief. Not an idiot.

A hitwoman, also an acquaintance of Octavio.

Antagonists

    Susan Caldwell
The current CEO of Tediore, and a ruthless businesswomen.
  • Bad Boss: Treats her employees with total disdain. While in the case of the grunts is a bit understandable (there are too many screw ups from their part to count), she also treats her better personnel (such as her scientists and doctors) like trash.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Contacts Rhys just as he is about to fire Anu with a request.

    Bivington Bradwick
An entrepreneur who's associated with Tediore.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Is name-dropped as part of Forge's Dirty Thirty during Octavio's introductory chapter. Octavio meets him halfway through the story during Caldwell's exploitation of his wishes to be famous.

    Jameson Harwen
L0U13's first victim in the story.
  • Kick the Dog: The reason L0U13's contracted to kill him is because he kicked his neighbor's Skag pet.

    Hank
A punk who bullies Fran into giving him free Frogurt in exchange for protection.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: When Fran questions him about Maliwan's ray destroying her store, he says he isn't to be blamed for the whims of the corporate overlords. Quite hard to disagree.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Has a grand total of one scene, and almost 10 minutes in the game's nearly 9-hour length. However, weren't for his death and Reba's posterior discovery, Fran wouldn't have had a price on her head from both Tediore and Rita.
