Riddles for the Ages in Anime & Manga.
  • 7 Seeds: The Ryugu Shelter arc has a mangaka in its midst, who works on the manga Wonderful Q. The driving question of the manga is the protagonist looking for the answer of "What is 'Q'?". The final chapter of the arc shows Mark picking up a page of the final chapter, revealing that the protagonist found the answer, though the reader is never shown. So... what exactly is Q?
  • Bamboo Blade: Who won the first match between Tamaki and Sakaki? The series ends before we get to see the outcome, though the spinoff, Bamboo Blade C implies that Sakaki won since her team, Banish Academy team goes all the way and won the tournament.
  • In Berserk, perhaps the most enigmatic character is the Beast of Darkness, a sinister Hellhound that lives inside Guts's mind and urges him to do terrible things such as rape and murder his own Love Interest. The initial author Kentaro Miura never made it clear whether the Beast is a distinct being, merely a visual metaphor for Guts's own repressed dark impulses, or something else entirely; because Miura died in 2021 before he could complete his manga, leaving it in the hands of his colleague Kouji Mori, it's unclear whether or not he intended to resolve this and a number of other mysteries.
  • Bleach:
    • Why are all of the Hollows and Arrancar of Hueco Mundo inexplicably Spanish?
    • What does Ichigo's true bankai do? Considering that the series was axed by Shueisha right after Yhwach preemptively destroyed Tensa Zangetsu when Ichigo released it and the manga had to rush to the ending, it's unlikely we'll ever get to see what it's capable of beyond its signature Getsuga Tensho and why Yhwach decided it was such a threat.
    • Byakuya mentions he's only shown his bankai's senkei form to one other opponent prior to Ichigo. He never reveals the circumstances surrounding this occasion.
    • With the common knowledge that Kenpachi Zaraki is the only captain to not have bankai upon the beginning of his tenure, what exactly was Sosuke Aizen's bankai? Why did none of the other captains mention it or factor it into their fights with him. Similar questions can be asked regarding Yoruichi, who is never seen wielding a sword and exclusively fights barehanded.
    • What do Schrifts "K" and "N" stand for? BG9 being a Person of Mass Destruction seems to be independent of whatever his Schrift ability is, as does Robert's Super-Speed.
    • For that matter, what is BG9? Is he a robot, a soul inhabiting a robot body, or something else altogether?
    • Just why exactly did Yhwach bother to capture Tier Harribel, instead of killing her outright? She speculates that Yhwach either had plans for her in his new world or tried to convert her into an enemy and give her Quincy powers, but can't be sure if there may be another reason. Also falls under Aborted Arc as the abrupt end of Bleach led to the purpose of her imprisonment being forever unknown.
  • Chainsaw Man:
    • What was the Devil Kobeni contracted with but kept secret? She never uses its powers at any point, and since she later quits being a devil hunter, the only ones legally allowed to have Devil contracts, the question will likely never be answered.
    • Was is possible for Aki to regain his sanity after becoming the Gun Fiend, or was Denji killing him really the only option?
    • What is the true name of the people who fuse with weapon Devils, and why are they the only concept to survive the Chainsaw Devil erasing their names?
  • In Code Geass, CC tells Lelouch her real name, but the sound is muted the exact moment she says it, preventing the audience from finding out. The same happens when Lelouch repeats it to her.
  • Cowboy Bebop: Did Spike die in the last episode?
  • In Dallos, the titular machine is a big question mark from start to finish. What it is, who made it, and why it was made are never explained.
  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba:
    • Who was that doctor that accidentally transformed Muzan into a demon with that Blue Spider Lily concoction?
    • What exactly are Blue Spider Lilies? Why do they bloom only two to three days a year? Why would a concoction created with them as one of the ingredients cause a human to transform into a demon?
    • The concoction that transformed Muzan seems to be purely science-based, so how is it that demons can perform the mystical Demon Blood Arts?
    • What causes the color changing reaction of Nichirin Blades depending on their wielders?
    • Why exactly does Tengen Uzui's Nichirin Blades cause shockwaves when no others can do the same?
    • How and why do Demon Slayer Marks manifest? Why do they cause people who manifest them to die before they reach the age of 25 (or if they are older than 25, die in a matter of hours)?
    • Why did the 5 Demon Slayers each with a unique heightened ability of one of the five senses have those abilities in the first place? For example, Tanjiro and his heightened sense of smell, along with Zenitsu and his heightened sense of hearing. Genya Shinazugawa's ability of taste is the most peculiar, because he's a human that can eat demon flesh and for a short time, temporarily gain demon physiology AND acquire the unique abilities of the demon whose flesh he consumed. Are these heightened senses just a different power set?
    • Why was Yoriichi Tsugikuni so damn powerful without even trying? It's to the point that no other character in the series ever became as Strong and Skilled as him (including Muzan, who still fears him). You'd think that his twin brother Michikatsu would be in the same boat, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Also, what exactly made Yoriichi so unique that he was exempt from the Demon Slayer Mark curse, living beyond 25 years old?
  • Digimon Adventure:
    • What was the black ball that Piedmon inserted into Gennai's back during Homeostasis's projection into the past? Did it cause Gennai to age into an old man? To this day, no official answers have been given as to what the ball's purpose was, or why it was even emphasized in the first place. Izzy even ponders about it briefly during a CD drama, only to quickly discard the thought over something more important, never referring to the event ever again.
    • What was the first evil being to come from beyond the Wall of Fire? The series' Greater-Scope Villain, Apocalymon, is mentioned to be the second, but we never get a name or any other characteristics for the first.
  • Dissolving Classroom: Is Yuuma an innocent victim of evil forces he cannot control as he claims, or is his sister Chizumi correct and he's a mass murderer refusing to accept responsibility for his actions?
  • Doraemon: In "A World Without Sound", how did Nobita and Doraemon get the "What If?" Box to bring back the world's sound if they couldn't speak to it?
  • Dragon Ball:
    • From the original Dragon Ball, what was Darkness actually?
    • Dragon Ball Z: The name of Freeza's race, despite several new members of it being introduced in various DBZ-related works, has never been revealed. Dragon Ball Xenoverse, which lets you play as one, called them "Changelings" in the beta stages... but then in the live release they were just called "Freeza's race" in character creation. According to Word of God, apparently there is not an entire race of people as strong as Freeza. His family is an abnormally strong mutant offshoot of said race and are much more powerful/evil than its normal members.
    • From Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might, how Turles discovered the Tree of Might (a sacred plant that is implied to be from the higher realms) to begin with, let alone how he obtained its seeds and learned how to cultivate and harvest its fruit, is all anyone's guess. Nothing from the manual or Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gives an answer.
    • Dragon Ball GT: Just what in the world happened to Goku in the last episode, and how did Vegeta, Roshi and Piccolo all know what was going on?
  • Eden of the East: Why was Akira naked in front of the White House in the first place? We do learn why he erased his memories and why he was in front of the White House... but not why he was naked.
  • From Elfen Lied and its anime adaptation:
    • Whose idea was it to treat the Dicloniī as sub-human? Nonethless, it lead to the setting being a Crapsack World.
    • Tomoo, though he is the most hated character in the series, carries many mysteries:
      • There is no known origin for his evil. If Kaede had spared Tomoo instead of letting her vectors explode on him (Though to be honest, she probably had no control over that when she was a kid.), someone could have interrogated him to find a definite answer. We never get any proof about whether Tomoo had Good Parents or Abusive Parents, as not even the website sheds light on his past.
      • We never know if Tomoo's henchmen liked him, as they did revel in the monstrous deeds their boss committed prior to his (and their) demise.
      • Neither is his Heel–Face Turn capacity known. Considering he took morbid glee in torturing Kaede For the Evulz and cranked Kids Are Cruel Up to Eleven, though, it seems grossly unlikely.
      • Since he attended an orphanage, Tomoo must be an orphan. What happened to his parents? (One guess involves Tomoo killing them, given what we see from him on-screen.)
  • Fireworks: The exact origins and workings of the time-reversing bauble are left as a mystery. There is all of one hint — when Nazuna talks about her missing father while in the train, the film suddenly shows a drowned man in the sea holding onto an identical bauble — but what that really means is left up to interpretation.
  • FLCL hardly explains anything about the backstory. What makes Naota such a perfect vehicle for "N.O. channels"? How did Medical Mechanica get their hands on Atomsk in the first place? Was Medical Mechanica really planning to bulldoze the Earth with a giant steam iron as part of some mind-control scheme, or was that just a wild guess by Amarao? And who exactly is Haruko Haruhara?
  • Fullmetal Alchemist:
    • Did Bradley love his wife? He openly admits that he considers himself superior to humanity, but he also says that his wife was the one thing about his life that he himself chose. As he dies, he says that he has no message for her because that's the relationship of a king and his wife.
    • What is Scar's real name? None of the various continuities of the franchise have ever answered that question. The 4koma Theater "reveals" that his true name is Percival Ramdeen Gregory Nicolai Chuck Schozer Leonardo Gabriel Socrates Ming Victor Nostradamus Alastair Patisha Vladimir Stiegler Rasputin Boromir Walla Walla Shadigah Alexander Oliver Abelard Ernesto Zippy Zappy Angel Eyes, but that's almost certainly not canon.
  • Goodnight Punpun: What is Punpun's real name and what does he really look like?
  • Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto: What is Sakamoto's first name?
  • Hoshin Engi:
    • Who did those 9 souls that flew to the Houshindai after Kingou Island blasted Kongrong Mountain belong to?
    • What was Youzen's vision of the future like in the 1999 anime?
  • Hunter × Hunter: The identity and whereabouts of Gon’s mother. While his entire goal revolves around finding his father, Ging, Gon isn’t even the least bit interested in finding her, as he considers Aunt Mito to be his real mother. Even when presented with the chance of hearing a recording of her voice, he refuses to listen. In the 1999 anime she suffered a severe case of Death by Adaptation, so that rules out her whereabouts in that version, but in the manga and 2011 anime it remains unknown. Word of God confirms that she’s not important to the story, so it will likely remain a mystery.
  • Idolmaster: Xenoglossia: Why did Haruka's parents leave her? Since they never appear outside of a flashback, what happened to them?
  • Inuyashiki: The aliens that came to Earth at the beginning of the story are completely irrelevant in the end. The reason for their presence is never explained.
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure:
    • What became of the Red Stone of Aja after Joseph used it in the final battle?
    • Is Mikitaka an alien or just a weird human? On the human side, his powers could be the result of a stand, he is unable to summon the ship he allegedly arrived in, claiming the ship is too far away, and he apparently has a human mother who claims Mikitaka just pretends to be an alien. On the alien side, the Arrow bounced off him rather than pierce him, his body breaks out in hives at the sound of a siren, he seems unable to perceive Josuke's stand, and he claims to have mind-controlled a woman into believing she is his mother.
    • The identity of Josuke's mysterious savior who inspired him to take his hairstyle.
    • What is Toyohiro Kanedaichi's real name, and what does he look like under that mask?
    • Whatever became of Shizuka's parents?
    • Everything related to Diavolo. His mother was in a woman's prison, with all female guards, on an isolated island, for two years before giving birth. In the anime, she also had no signs of pregnancy before suddenly waking up in labor. The infant Diavolo didn't cry or even blink upon birth, and in the anime his eyes briefly change color. He possesses a split personality in the form of Doppio, and when switching between them, his body physically changes. This change in personality and appearance seem unrelated to his Stand, and Chariot Requiem's ability shows that Diavolo and Doppio actually possess separate, distinct souls inhabiting one body.
    • How did DIO knew the recipe for attaining "Heaven"?
    • Who shot Poor Tom?
  • Played with in one of the prequels of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, where Yang Wen-li investigates a mysterious weekly correspondence which asserts that the Alliance war hero Bruce Ashbey was murdered and not killed in action as popularly assumed. He ends up uncovering circumstantial evidence that Ashbey was the recipient of leaked intelligence provided by a massive secret espionage network established by a disaffected Imperial noble. The actual existence of such a network is however never revealed in the story and Yang himself asserts that his hypothesis might never be proven unless both the Alliance and the Empire cease to exist.
  • In Maison Ikkoku, after fourteen volumes and some six years of in-universe time, neither the readers nor the other characters have any real idea of what Mr. Yotsuya does for a living... or, indeed, any knowledge of his life outside the apartment. His one and only day in the limelight is devoted to him evading the other characters' attempts to figure out what he does all day.
  • Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro: Everything related to Akane. Early in the series, Neuro and Yako solve a case involving some yakuza guys and the budding detective couple inherit the office that belonged to them. In one room Yako finds a braid of hair sticking from a walled up corpse. It somehow gains sentience thanks to Neuro's demonic power. Akane seems to know what happened to her but refused to say anything about it and Neuro claims he's going to solve her mystery later as he's not interested at that moment. He never did.
  • Memories: In "Cannon Fodder", it's never revealed who is the enemy the city is fighting against.
  • The Gundam franchise:
    • The original Mobile Suit Gundam:
      • It's never made entirely clear whether or not the Zabi family really did assassinate Char's dad, Zeon Deikun. The official story is that he died of a heart attack (The Origin does show him to have been very stressed and high-strung at the time) but Char himself and most other people who mention his death treat the assassination angle as an Open Secret. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, however, implies that the assassination theory might have been cooked up by Deikun's Old Retainer Jinba Ral both to discredit the Zabi family and to mold Char into a Tyke Bomb against them. In the end, it's one of those enduring mysteries that conspiracy nuts of the Universal Century will debate for centuries, until the ∀ Gundam kills them all.
      • In the "Tomino Memo" (said to be Yoshiyuki Tomino's original 50-episode plan for Mobile Suit Gundam), Dewgin Zabi meets the White Base crew and, recognizing Sayla as Deikun's daughter Artesia, begs her forgiveness for having killed her father and perverted his dream. Of course, one might not buy the whole "original plan" idea; Gundam Sousei puts forth the idea that it's nonsense Tomino threw together to tempt the sponsors so they would fund the compilation movie trilogy.
    • In Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, a few episodes after their breakup, Flay wants to speak to Kira, but he says it'll have to wait, as he's heading to battle. He promises they'll talk after, but they never get a chance to meet face to face again. We never found out what Flay wanted to say as she wasn't in her usual bitch mood and sounded apologetic when she approached Kira.
  • Naruto:
    • Who are Konohamaru's parents? All we know is that they were elite jounins and part of the ANBU Black Ops. His father (and Asuma's brother) is mentioned in passing, unnamed, in a one-shot spin-off, but that's it.
    • What does Tsunade really look like?
    • Who's the father of Hagoromo and Hamura?
  • Negima! Magister Negi Magi: Who is the Master of the Gravekeeper's Palace, and what happened to her? Not even the sequel answers this.
  • Some questions that Neon Genesis Evangelion leave unanswered:
    • What did Gendo say to Ritsuko before he shot her? The line itself is muted, but we hear her reply: "You liar."
    • Which ending (TV or movie) actually happened? Or maybe ''both?''note  Is the TV ending taking place for real, or is it just what Shinji wanted out of Instrumentality? This question has been the subject of a lot of heated debate, as the extreme surrealism of the last episodes and movie borders on incomprehensibility even for people who fully understand what's meant to be going on (at least, so they think). For newcomers and folks who haven't been paying incredibly close attention to the psychological metaphorical minutiae of the show, even coming close to having an answer is a pipe dream.
    • Whose soul is in Unit-00?
    • Who was responsible for the mysterious blackout in "The Day Tokyo 3 Stood Still" that nearly allowed an Angel to invade?
    • Who killed Kaji? Word of God implies it was just a random SEELE or NERV henchman, presumably ordered to do so by Keel Lorenz.
    • Why did Shinji see a Rei hallucination when he first came to Tokyo-3? And then again after the Assimilation Plot had ended?
    • From whom did Kaworu get his looks? Kaworu and Rei are both angelic souls in human clone bodies. Rei is Lilith's soul in a Yui Ikari clone, while Kaworu has the soul of the angel Tabris, whose true form is never seen; it's not known who his prime clone was.
    • Who or what threw that Longinus Spear at Asuka?
    • What were Yui Ikari's plans exactly?
  • One Piece has the mysterious entities living in the Florian Triangle. Although some of the disappearances that have happened in the Florian Triangle can be attributed to Moriah's scheme, the truth is that ships have been disappearing mysteriously in it for a long time before he came on his ship, Thriller Bark, ten years before the series. This mystery is confirmed by an unknown ominous entity larger than Thriller Bark. It was barely seen by Lola through the fog.
  • Parasyte: Thematic implications aside, there is never a true explanation as to what the parasites are exactly, where they come from, or what purpose they serve. Similarly, why certain humans like Kana and Uragami could sense the aliens is also glossed over.
  • Pilot Candidate: Due to the anime's Gecko Ending, these questions will never be answered:
    • Why are the Victim attacking Zion?
    • Why does Teela have an interest in Zero beyond the fact that she seemingly saved his life a few years ago?
    • Who is the mysterious girl that Zero encountered inside Eeva Leena?
    • Who is the person that Dr. Rivould is seen talking to early on?
    • What is the connection between two specific people in Zero's dreams and their possible counterparts in the real world?note
    • Why does Kizna has fox ears? A flashback reveals that she once had human ears, but what the hell happened was never properly explained.
  • Pokémon: The Series:
    • Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny. Maybe they are simply just the female members of extended families who happen to look exactly alike and who all choose the same career and have the same name, but fans have to wonder. All we know is it's prime Fanfic Fuel.
    • What happened between Brock and Prof. Ivy, and why does Brock flatly refuse to talk about it?
    • What was in the GS Ball? Word of God says that it was supposed to be a Celebi, but that got scrapped when they decided to use Celebi in Pokémon 4Ever, so the question remains unanswered.
    • Who is Ash's father? Word of God is that he's alive and that they would bring him in if he would be important to Ash's development. Since Ash's tenure in the anime has ended, this will probably remain unanswered.
    • Who are Tobias' (at least) four other Pokémon besides Darkrai & Latios? And how did Tobias get his hands on those Legendary Pokémon?
    • One pertaining to the ending of Pokémon Heroes: was it Latias that kissed Ash, or Bianca? Interestingly, the final episode of the X/Y saga suggests that it was indeed Latias who kissed Ash (lining up with the general fan consensus) by means of Bilingual Bonus: Serena's flight to Hoenn is the H71 Latias. The Hoenn Pokédex in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire has Mawile listed as the 71st Pokémon, and its Japanese name (Kucheat) is partially taken from the word kuchi (mouth). Therefore, Serena's flight can be read as "Latias, but on/with the mouth", simultaneously applying a Mind Screwdriver to the ending of Heroes and indirectly confirming where exactly Serena kissed Ash.
    • Why is Cilan so afraid of Purrloin?
    • Everything about the backstory of Genesect and the Legend Awakened's Mewtwo is this, due to the film explaining nothing beyond the bare basics of Mewtwo's origin in every canon. Don't ask how it was made when its creators seemingly didn't know about the original, either.
    • Clemont and Bonnie's father being a masked vigilante is never explained once. Not even his kids knowing his true identity is enough for them to question his motives.
    • Exactly what is the full story about the Ash-Greninja in the past? The only explanation it has is that it just... appeared out of nowhere and ended the ninja war before disappearing from the face of the planet, but there is absolutely nothing else about it or if it even had a Trainer that (once again) resembled Ash.
    • At the end of the climax of Team Flare's plot, what happened to Lysandre after the megalith was destroyed by Zygarde's Core Enforcer? Was he killed or did he simply disappear? Steven even asks Malva what became of Lysandre and (in the dub at least) she gives the answer "Who knows?"
    • In the final episode of the Sun and Moon saga, Solgaleo appears and gives Ash and Pikachu a ride through an Ultra Wormhole. We never see the event, but Ash explains to everyone that they saw an Ultra Beast. The Ultra Beast in question is never actually seen, but is implied to be one that has never appeared in the games.
    • Who were the two trainers who got the starter Bulbasaur and Charmander in the series premiere?
    • Where did James get his Weepinbell from that evolved into Victreebell?
    • What is Pikachu's backstory? How did it get into Professor Oak's lab in the first place? "Enter Pikachu!" gives part of the backstory, but question of such things like "why Pikachu hates Pokeballs", "how Pikachu got into Professor Oak's care", and "the source of Pikachu's notable strength and power level" are not answered. It merely gives an idea of how old Pikachu might be (that he was about 4 before episode 1) and that he was a Pichu at one point.
    • Who won the Indigo League? All we see is a silhouette of the winning trainer as well as the second and third place winners, but it’s impossible to determine who they are.
    • On that note, who won the first battle in the series we saw, and what were the names of the two trainers taking part in it? We cut to Ash watching it before we get a conclusive answer and the series never touches on it again.
    • Did Pikachu really talk in I Choose You or was Ash imagining it?
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica:
    • Did Sayaka kill the two men on the train for badmouthing their girlfriends? While other Words of God have given an answer, Gen Urobuchi, the writer of the series, has said that it's supposed to be ambiguous.
    • What are the names, apperances, weapons, and wishes of the Puella Magi who became witches, such as Gertrud, Kirsten, and Elsa Maria? While the movie, at least, did reveal who Charlotte was, Magia Record has only given a name to the girl of one of the witches so far- that being Urhmann, whose name is Inui Itsumi, but it did not reveal what she looked like.
      • Conversely, what are the witches of certain Puella Magi? While Magia Record has helped clarify a good deal of them, there are still others we know nothing of.
      • The PSP game introduces a witch named Itzli, who is said to be "from the end of the galaxy". Was she an alien as a Puella Magi? If so, what does she look like and what planet is she from?
    • Homura's backstory before the events of the series has never been elaborated on. The issues with her heart that put her in the hospital are known, and she had been in a missionary school, but anything else, like her family situation, are complete unknowns.
    • Just what is Kyubey's true form? And what is the name of his home planet and what is it like?
  • Re:CREATORS never explains how exactly Altair managed to come to the real world and use her powers to bring to life other fictional characters, besides a small forgettable bit of Techno Babble at the beginning.
  • The Sad Tale of the Principal Post: The father of the family somehow ends up stuck under the main pillar holding the newly-constructed house up. He eventually dies under the pillar, with no one ever finding out how he got there.
  • Sailor Moon: Where did Queen Serenity, the mother of Princess Serenity, come from? In the manga, Nehellenia claims that she and Serenity are both "immigrants" who originally wandered the galaxy, indicating that Serenity was not native to the moon like her daughter, but this is the only indication of her past.
  • School Days: Was Sekai actually pregnant with Makoto's child? After killing her and cutting her open, Kotonoha says that Sekai was lying as there was nothing there, but it's possible that it may have just been too early in the pregnancy for Kotonoha to actually know.
  • Shaman King: Who was Hao Asakura's original father?
  • Toriko: Did something happened between Komatsu and Nono when he stayed to eat at her restaurant? Whatever it was, it caused his clothes to smell like her.
  • Umi no Misaki never explains the Human Sacrifice tradition the island has. The Dragon God is real, but he doesn't condone it, so why is it done in his name? The people doing the sacrificing don't seem to like it either.
  • ×××HOLiC: What was up with that ghost girl looking out the window at the end of episode 12? Who was she?
  • Yosuga no Sora: At the end of the series, did Sora and Haruka drown in the lake, or did they survive? We never see the outcome, but instead are shown the two of them on a train, but given the surreal-ness of the scene, it's implied to be an afterlife for them.
  • The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise:
    • The original Yu-Gi-Oh!:
      • Who won the Duel between Yugi and Joey at the very end of the Battle City arc? Joey was dueling to get his Red Eyes Black Dragon back, and he's later shown with it, implying he won, but that's another trope entirely.
      • What is the Kaiba brothers' birth surname, and why did they keep the name of their abusive stepfather even after his death?
      • In the manga, what methods did Seto Kaiba do to cheat in his chess game against Gozaburo, who is regarded as the national chess champion in Japan?
      • The specifics of how the characters obtained their cards usually doesn't get brought up, but in most cases that's because the answer isn't particularly relevant or interesting (with the assumption being either "they bought them" or "magic"). However, one particular card falls into neither category and instead ends up an example of this trope: where exactly did Kaiba get the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon card? Bear in mind that, in the original anime, only four copies of Blue-Eyes White Dragon were ever printed; Blue-Eyes Ultimate's summoning condition explicitly requires possessing three copies of BEWD. The story never bothers to address why Pegasus would bother printing support for such a vanishingly rare card (let alone one whose conditions meant it would be absurdly unlikely to ever be played), nor how Kaiba managed to obtain it between his first and second duels with Yugi (especially since he was apparently in the depths of an existential crisis for most of that time). note
    • At the end of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, who won the final duel: Yugi or Jaden?
    • Yugioh 5 DS: What happened to Yusei after everyone parted ways? During his final duel with Jack we see a kind of "Years After" scene about every major character except for Yusei, and Aki implies that she hasn't seen him in the eight years that have since passed. Thus, we get to assume that he didn't reunite with anyone for a very long time.
  • YuYu Hakusho:
    • What are the Toguro brothers' given names? They're both only ever referred to as "Toguro," distinguished only by "Elder" and "Younger" if they're together.
    • What is Yusuke's father's name, why did he and Atsuko split up, and which of them is the one descended from Raizen?
    • Was the assassin that blinded the Demon King Yomi truly hired, as he claims, by Yomi's best friend and one of the series' main heroes, Kurama? Yomi summarily executes the assassin for even suggesting such a thing, but then immediately turns to the implicated person in question and tells him he's not even going to bother asking if it's true, because either way, the experience shocked him out of his period of stagnation and gave him the shot in the arm he needed to rise to become one of the most powerful demons in history, so it all worked out for him in the end.
    • What does "Forever fornever" even mean?
