- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has several references to King Crimson, including a Stand called King Crimson and a sub-Stand called Epitaph in Golden Wind. Discipline is also directly seen in a record shop in JoJolion, whereas the song "Matte Kudasai" serves as the namesake behind Usagi Aloha'oe's Stand in The JOJOLands.
- Gotlib spoofed the cover of In the Court of the Crimson King with his character Hamster Jovial.
- Christina Ricci tap-dances to "Moonchild" in Buffalo '66.
- "The Court of the Crimson King" was used in Children of Men.
- In The Stinger of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Adam Warlock names Adrian Belew as his favorite artist, "both solo, and his work with King Crimson".
- The Big Bad of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series is usually called the Crimson King. (His actual name, Los', is a Shout-Out to William Blake)
- One of the novels in The Lords of Creation is entitled In the Court of the Crimson Kings.
- In the Doctor Who story "The Mind of Evil", recurring villain the Master listens to "The Devil's Triangle" on the radio, in a Left the Background Music On gag.
- King Crimson's music has been widely covered, especially by progressive metal acts such as Voivod (who covered "21st Century Schizoid Man"), Norway's Shining (ditto), Dream Theater (covered "Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part Two"), Murmur (ditto), and Between the Buried and Me (covered "Three of a Perfect Pair").
- Musicians who have cited King Crimson as an influence include Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Bad Religion (who quoted "21st Century Schizoid Man" in the lyrics of their single "21st Century (Digital Boy)"), Rush, tool, and Moonsorrow.
- Japanese band Acid Mothers Temple have an album called Starless And Bible Black Sabbath.
- Epitaph Records was named in honour of King Crimson's song "Epitaph".
- Reverend Bizarre named their first album, In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend, in tribute to King Crimson's first album.
- Merzbow and Boris' collaborative EP Walrus/Groon is partially named for a King Crimson B-side. Merzbow also sampled "The Great Deceiver" for a track on Spiral Honey.
- Kanye West famously sampled "21st Century Schizoid Man" on his hit "Power".
- ULTRAKILL has several levels named after King Crimson songs, including "COURT OF THE CORPSE KING" and "IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON"
