  • King Crimson's music has been widely covered, especially by progressive metal acts such as Voivod (who covered "21st Century Schizoid Man"), Norway's Shining (ditto), Dream Theater (covered "Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part Two"), Murmur (ditto), and Between the Buried and Me (covered "Three of a Perfect Pair").
  • Musicians who have cited King Crimson as an influence include Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Bad Religion (who quoted "21st Century Schizoid Man" in the lyrics of their single "21st Century (Digital Boy)"), Rush, tool, and Moonsorrow.
  • Japanese band Acid Mothers Temple have an album called Starless And Bible Black Sabbath.
  • Epitaph Records was named in honour of King Crimson's song "Epitaph".
  • Reverend Bizarre named their first album, In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend, in tribute to King Crimson's first album.
  • Merzbow and Boris' collaborative EP Walrus/Groon is partially named for a King Crimson B-side. Merzbow also sampled "The Great Deceiver" for a track on Spiral Honey.
  • Kanye West famously sampled "21st Century Schizoid Man" on his hit "Power".
