- The Mitchells vs. the Machines: When Rick Mitchell suggests the family go into hiding until the robot uprising blows over, Katie unfavorably compares it to the Ghostbusters going into hiding themselves and letting the ghosts terrorize New York.
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Luigi shouts "We got one!" when he and Mario get a call for their first plumbing job, referencing the original Ghostbusters.
Anime
- Smile PreCure!: One episode is titled "Real? Fake? We Ain't Afraid of No Ghosts!".
- In Swarming With Hatred, when fighting a monster, Pekorin yells for the team to "Aim for the flat top, peko!".
- Casper: Ray Stantz (portrayed by Dan Aykroyd) is called in by the film's villains to rid a haunted house of its previous ghostly owners. When he is unable to catch them, he says "Who you gonna call? Someone else."
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Wade compares the Master Emerald's ability to turn thoughts into reality to that of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the 1984 film. He confirms it to be true when the Master Emerald-powered Robotnik constructs a giant robot.
- Ash vs. Evil Dead: "There is no Kelly anymore!" from "The Host" is a reference to the 1984 film.
- Castle: Castle gets Beckett to say "I ain't afraid of no ghost", with the theme music playing in the background.
- Doom Patrol: The entirety of "Sex Patrol" is a huge nod and homage to the 1984 film.
- Key & Peele: The Wizard School Sketch is set at "Vincent Clortho Public School".
- MythBusters: During the gasoline trail myth, the narrator takes a page from another group of Busters when talking about how the crew has to avoid crossing gasoline streams.
- Stranger Things:
- The four boys dress as the Ghostbusters on Halloween, and the theme song is heard.
- Dustin's prop ghost trap is used to hold a creature from another dimension, just like its cinematic counterpart.
- A live-action insert of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is titled "Slime Busters". In this episode, Ernie Hudson teams up with Mario and Luigi to capture a slime ghost similar to Slimer. DiC Entertainment produced both Super Show and The Real Ghostbusters.
Music
- Super Ghostbusters by Varskelethor (a.k.a. Vinesauce Joel) is an album based around nonsensical parodies of the Ghostbusters theme.
- Curt Smith of Tears for Fears has confirmed that the index cards flying out of the library drawer in the "Head over Heels" music video was a rip-off from the 1984 film.
- The Dresden Files: Harry jots "Don't cross the streams!" in response to Billy's suggestion that an alternate dice-rolling method is fine, provided everyone uses it.
- Demon's World is a Run-and-Gun arcade game where the players are ersatz versions of the Ghostbusters, who goes around shooting assorted undead and demon enemies with their laser guns (attached to what looks suspiciously like a Proton Pack).
- Hotel Mario: In the cutscene preceding Ludwig's Castle Hotel, Mario proclaims "We ain't afraid of no Koopas!
- In Infinite Craft, "Ghostbuster(s)" is a possible crafting recipe.
- Monster Hunter (PC) have a Big Boo's Haunt level titled, "Who You Gonna Call?". There's another stage titled "He Slimed Me!" containing three green ghosts resembling Slimer.
- Pokémon: According to designer James Turner in a series of now-deleted tweets, the design for Vanilluxe (first introduced in Pokémon Black and White) is meant to evoke American food mascots such as the Pillsbury Doughboy, and the fictional Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.
- The English version of Puyo Puyo Fever has one of Yu's spells be "Who you gonna call?"
- On a related note, Yo-kai Watch Blasters has a Yo-kai named "Whismellowman" that resembles the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, although it was redesigned and renamed to "Whisped Cream" in the West to avoid copyright issues.
- Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures: Kuromi paraphrases Peter Venkman in "Kuromi's Arcade Antics", saying "Let's show this plant how we do things downtown."
- McBusters: The animated web series serves as a mash-up parody of Ghostbusters and the McDonaldland mascots, the three videos being Whole Plot References to Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II and the premise consisting of Ronald McDonald, Mayor McCheese, Hamburglar and Mac Tonight using equipment similar to the proton packs and ghost traps to capture monsters based on the Fry Guys and McNugget Buddies in order to fry them up and serve them as fast food at McDonald's restaurants nationwide.
- 8-Bit Theater: The title of the comic "That was your whole plan. I like it; it was scientific." is a shout out to the first Ghostbusters film.
- The Adventures of Dr. McNinja: There is no Jenny... ONLY ZUUL!
- The Angry Video Game Nerd has a three-part episode where he reviews various video games based on the franchise for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600, Sega Master System, and Sega Genesis.
- In an episode of Console Wars, Pat and Dan see whether the NES or the Sega Master System had the worse video game based on the 1984 film.
- Dragon Ball Z Abridged: Parodied when Nappa comes back as Ghost Nappa, complete with a theme song and logo that spoofs the ones from Ghostbusters.
- Batman: The Brave and the Bold: During "Revenge of the Reach!", the line "There is no Jaime, only The Reach." parodies a similar line from the 1984 film.
- Dennis the Menace features several references to the franchise, as both it and The Real Ghostbusters were produced by the same company, DiC Entertainment:
- One episode of the series is titled "Ghost Blusters".
- In "Dennis the Genius", the green ghost that Dennis creates bears a strong resemblance to Slimer.
- In both of the aforementioned episodes, a sound-alike of the Ghostbusters theme song plays whenever either the disguised Dinkle Gang or the ghost appear.
- Ed, Edd n Eddy: In the episode "A Glass of Warm Ed" Edd, much like Egon Spengler, is "terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought".
- The Fairly OddParents!: In "Pipe Down!", after Timmy loses a game of charades to the Dinklebergs, his outraged father asks him, among other things, "And how is this Ghostbusters II?" as he pretends to row a boat.
- Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: In "Bloooo", Wilt, Coco, and Eduardo mistake a sickly white Bloo for a ghost. At one point, this exchange occurs when Coco picks up a phone:
- Garfield and Friends: In "Ghost of a Chance", to get rid of Diablo, a ghost haunting Jon's house, Garfield considers calling the Ghostbusters, then decides against it because their show was cancelled.note
- The Simpsons:
- In "Tales From The Public Domain"'s retelling of Hamlet, when the ghost of Hamlet's Father (Homer) leaves Hamlet (Bart), he goes through the wall and leaves an Ectoplasm outline like Slimer. And at the end, after Bart complains about the ending to Hamlet, Homer explains that it was made into a great film called Ghostbusters. Cue Dance Party Ending of the Simpsons dancing to the "Ghostbusters" theme song.
- In "Treehouse Of Horror XXXIV", executive producer Matt Selman is credited as "Stay Puft Mattselman Man".
- An episode of Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM) is titled "Ghost Busted". DiC Entertainment produced both this series and The Real Ghostbusters.
- SpongeBob SquarePants:
- In "Pranks a Lot", Mr. Krabs says in both his newspaper interview and his self-protection monologue that, "I ain't afraid of no ghost!"
- In "The Krusty Plate", SpongeBob, while using the Spot-Master 6000 to remove a grease stain off a plate, crosses the beams at the potential risk of ending all life, just as the Ghostbusters crossed the streams to defeat Gozer.
Other
- Mozilla's XUL interface language is pronounced the same as Zuul, so this is hidden in the documentation (and notice the url includes "keymaster/gatekeeper").
