Go To

The twenty-eighth episode of the first season of Tiny Toon Adventures.

The Tiny Toons present three sports cartoons.

Short One: "Tennis The Menace"

Montana Max hosts the Wimpydumb Tennis tournament, where the only players he invites are those who have never held a tennis racket. After defeating Furrball, Bookworm, and Hamton, a frustrated Buster goes up against Monty, disguised as the famous Swedish tennis player, Bjorn Bunny.

Short Two: "Bleacher Bummer"

Dizzy Devil and Furrball try to sneak into the ACME stadium so they can see the big baseball game between Acme Looniversity and Perfecto Prep. Arnold, who is working as a security guard, tries to stop them. Meanwhile, Perfecto Prep clobbers Acme Looniversity in the baseball game, through the old magnet-in-the-bat scam. Will Acme Looniversity win the game?

Short Three: "Miniature Goof"

Buster and Babs try to play a game of miniature golf on a course owned by Roderick and Rhubella Rat. After being treated unfairly by the rats, Buster and Babs, disguised as Biff and Buffy Vanderbunny, challenge them to a game of mini-golf to claim ownership of the course.

This episode provides examples of:

Overall:

Tennis The Menace:

  • Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: Babs, in her "Bunny Wawa" persona.
Babs: Tell me, Monty, why have you only invited weawwy wousy wimpy wathwetes?
Monty: Vewy simple, miss Wawa, I WANT TO WIN!
  • Rule of Three: Monty manages to defeat three different opponents: Furrball, Bookworm, and Hamton, before he goes up against Buster.
  • Shout-Out:
    • This short's title is a reference to the comic strip, Dennis the Menace.
    • At one point, Buster imitates Mr. Rogers to teach the viewers the word, "CHEATER".
  • Temporary Bulk Change: Hamton gradually gets fatter as Monty serves him lunch. He ends up becoming so fat, that Gogo Dodo has to carry him away with a motorcart. He's back to his normal weight in a later scene.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: This exchange after Buster gets pelted by many tennis balls:
Buster: This is the last time I do a cartoon without reading the script first!
Monty: I got the writer in my back pocket!
    (Monty pulls out the writer.)

Bleacher Bummer:

  • Accidental Hero: While being chased by Arnold for gatecrashing, Furrball and Dizzy end up exposing the Perfectos were cheating.
  • The Ahnold: Arnold.
  • Anvil on Head: Furrball becomes a victim of this when he catches the anvil Arnold tosses at him and Dizzy.
  • Baseball Episode
  • A Day in the Limelight: The cartoon revolves around Furrball and Dizzy, an unusual and unique matchup.
  • Disqualification-Induced Victory: Towards the end of the short, while being chased by Arnold, Furrball and Dizzy accidentally break the Perfectos' bat, revealing they have been cheating using the "Magnet-in-the-bat" scam, thus resulting in Perfecto Prep being disqualified (with a huge lead) and Acme Looniversity winning the game by default.
  • Porky Pig Pronunciation: From the Trope Namer himself:
Porky: Oh, V-v-v-v-vendor, I'll have an ice c-c... an ice c-c... some peanuts!
  • Suddenly Voiced: At the end of this short, Furrball says, "We love baseball!" as he and Dizzy enjoy their celebratory feast.

Miniature Goof:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: This line from Rhubella when she and Roderick owe Buster and Babs a large sum of money:
"What'll we do? If we lose this last hole, we'll be laughingstocks, outcasts! Worse than that, we'll be poor!"
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: After being unfairly treated by Roderick and Rhubella, Buster goes into an Angrish rant, leading Babs to dose him with a bucket of water.
    Buster: Thanks, I needed that.
  • Mini-Golf Episode
  • Scary Stinging Swarm: At hole 13, Buster distracts Rhubella, causing her to hit a beehive with her golf club, and many bees to attack her and Roderick.
  • Ship Tease: Roderick and Rhubella call Buster and Babs "Mr. No-Money Bunny and his No-Money Bunny Honey".
  • Shout-Out: Buster causes Rhubella to bogey by imitating Humphrey Bogart.
  • This Means War!: Buster and Babs decide to get back at Roderick and Rhubella after being treated unfairly by them.
  • Trash Landing: Buster and Babs get tossed into a dumpster by many angry people after they inadvertently ruin their fancy lunch thanks to Roderick and Rhubella rigging their game.
  • You Dirty Rat!: Roderick and Rhubella. Even though they advertise their golf course having free admission, they still refuse to let Buster and Babs play. Over the second half of the short, they receive their comeuppance.
