The team must take drastic steps, just to stay afloat. We’re nearly caught up, now. Merle writes his story. Magnus breaks his bonds. Taako plans a very good day.
Tropes
- Break the Cutie / Took a Level in Badass: Both apply to Lucretia. After all six of her teammates died early, she spends an entire year alone, constantly on the run, and learning to fix the broken ship before the Hunger arrives. She succeeds, but this determination leads to her going against the team later on. As Griffin puts it:Griffin: She became fierce and confident and decisive. She wouldn't go on to found the Bureau of Balance for decades still, but this, this horrible lonely year, this is when Lucretia became Madame Director.
- Came Back Strong: Lup and Barry perform a spell that transforms them into Emotion Eater liches. Taako worries that it went horribly wrong, but then Lup's spectral skeleton form dabs and sinks back into her body just fine.
- Seven Deadly Sins: The IPRE crash-land onto a planet where four stone judges proceed to judge all of them (minus Lucretia, who escaped) for their past and future crimes, naming the Seven Deadly Sins as their main faults.
