Release: October 15, 2013

Film: Sharknado

This review contains examples of:

  • And That's Terrible: The Critic and the Snob call out Nova's personal reason for hating sharks, comparing it to someone claiming to find more reasons to hate Osama bin Laden (more so than when he triggered 9/11) because he didn't feed his cat.
  • Artistic License – Physics: The Critic and the Snob call this out a lot throughout the film, from using small bombs to destroy tornadoes to causing a pool to explode by simply putting some gasoline over the water. It's so bad they even do a parody of Mythbusters around the science.
  • Awesome Mc Cool Name: The Snob believes this is the only reason why this bad movie is so popular.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: After the Snob asks for the Critic's help with reviewing the movie, the Critic asks why. Snob just replies its in the script.
  • Call-Back: The Critic reuses the Foamy Mouth Guy from his The Last Airbender review to "cheer" Tara Reid's name at the opening credits.
  • Crossover: With The Cinema Snob.
  • Double Standard: At the end of the video, The Critic and the Snob bring in the girl from their Mythbusters parody to come up with titles to market to women. She explains that when creating titles that appeal to the female demographic, they can invoke all sorts of things like being cute, dark, or badass just to name a few. Critic and Snob both realize that when marketing towards males, they can be manly, but that's it.
  • Gondor Calls for Aid: Played with. The Snob states that he needs the Critic's help with reviewing this movie. When the Critic expresses skepticism over his need, the Snob just comments that he was just going along with the script the Critic gave him.
  • Implied Love Interest: Both the Critic and the Snob point out how poorly this is done as it is quite clear that Fin has no interest in Nova despite the latter's advances. That and the fact she literally knows nothing about his personal life, let alone the fact that he had an ex-wife, son and daughter.
Critic: So are we not in a relationship or really not in a relationship?
  • Made of Explodium: The Critic and the Snob discuss how gasoline is akin to nitroglycerine in action movies. They exemplify it by cutting to Malcolm about to fill up his car, which suddenly explodes for no reason.
  • Sniper Pistol: Critic and Snob are shocked on how Baz was able to shoot a shark out of the sky with a pistol from a good distance away.
  • Shout-Out
    • Upon seeing Nova kill a shark with a cue stick, the Critic imitates Horatio Caine and coldly claims "I call it... a deadball shot" before he and the Snob wear glasses at the cue of the Big "YES!" of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again".
  • Take That!: A pretty brutal one toward Mythbusters.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Invoked by the two. The characters are standing outside of a lot filled with cars from movies when they need a vehicle. Instead of using any known vehicle from any movie they take a heavy duty Hummer. They complain over how awesome it would have been had they picked ECTO-1 or KITT.

"Aw, Shepard!"
