Film: Devil
This review contains examples of:
- …But He Sounds Handsome: Satan says Shyamalan faithfully represented his work, and keeps defending the movie's portrayal of the Devil. This is a clue about his real identity.
- Dragged Off to Hell: Shyamal-Amon escaped from Hell after his last appearance. At the end of the review, the Devil takes him back.
- Everybody Lives: Despite seemingly killing characters left and right, only Shyamal-Amon dies, and he was already dead anyway.
- Foreshadowing: Becomes one after the first twist - the toast still fell jelly side down...
- Neck Snap: Happens in the movie, naturally. Rita is seemingly killed this way as well.
- No Dead Body Poops: Referenced after the old woman's death.Critic (as security guard): I'll tell ya, those bowels are gonna be evacuating at any time and I'm not gonna want to be in this elevator then.
- Out-of-Character Alert: The Devil keeps defending his portrayal.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: In-Universe, the cast more or less feels this way about the film: that the set up and idea is fantastic, but throwing in a supernatural element ruins it.
- Twist Ending: The Devil was actually Shyamal-Amon, Santa Christ was the Devil (but only at the end, the rest of the time he was a jerkass), the elevator guy was Evilina, and Rita Repulsa was Cthulhu.Shyamal-Amon: That sounds needlessly complicated. Can I steal that?
- Villainous Rescue: The Devil saves the Critic from Shyamal-Amon in the end.
When he's near, toast falls jelly side down! Also, Rita was actually Cthulhu.
