Go To

"Hurl, Interrupted":

  • "Brave the Ride" Plot: The episode centers on Lynn being too afraid to ride the Whipped Scream roller coaster out of fear of throwing up.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lynn.
  • Hidden Depths: This episode reveals that Lynn is afraid of vomiting, due to an experience she had when she was younger.
  • I Have This Friend: Lynn attempts this trope on Clyde when asking him for advice on how to handle her fear of barfing. He's quick to point out he has no time for hypotheticals, so she cuts to the chase instead.
  • Innocently Insensitive: When Paula admits to being afraid of roller coasters, Margo and Maddie laugh and tease her for it, giving Lynn another reason why she doesn't want to admit how she feels. When Lynn does admit the truth, Margo and Maddie assure her that they don't think of her as a coward, and even apologize to Paula for how they treated her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lynn successfully manages to get Dairy Land to close so she won't have to go on the Whipped Scream, but learns that the ride will be torn down the next day to make room for a hotel, thereby forever ruining the chance for her friends to enjoy it.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Lynn is able to choose not to go on the roller coaster, but all the cheese she ate while stalling, and then riding a cow like a bucking bronco causes her to throw up anyway. However, she realizes it wasn't as bad as she remembers and it makes her confident enough to ride the roller coaster.
  • Shout-Out: The episode title refers to Girl, Interrupted.
  • Springtime for Hitler: One of Lynn's attempts to keep from going on the roller coaster is to throw her drink at the controls to stop the ride. It seems to work at first, but the ride turns back on and is now even faster.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: When Lynn goes to Clyde for advice, Clyde suggests that she just admit her fear to her friends. Lynn immediately laughs this off, not wanting to be seen as a "wimp".
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Lynn eating a bunch of cheese while stalling from going on the roller coaster and riding a cow that tries to shake her off gives her a severe case of indigestion.

"Diamonds Are For Never":

  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lola and Mr. Grouse.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Mr. Grouse and Lola go from rivals to Teeth-Clenched Teamwork to full-on friends by the end of the episode. This makes Lola the second Loud to form a friendship with Grouse after Lynn Jr.
  • Funny Background Event: When Lola and Mr. Grouse are outside the Loud's home, arguing over who took the diamond, a pizza can be seen on the roof of Mr. Grouse's house.
  • Genre Savvy: Lynn knows the animal hat trick has a fake bottom with a secret compartment containing Walt.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: As Lola spies on Mr. Grouse guarding the diamond, he leaves the room. Lola complains that leaving it unguarded isn't responsible.
  • Pet the Dog: When Mr. Grouse and Lola fight over who gets to keep the diamond they found, Flip, a greedy con man, helps them come up with a compromise so they can both keep it.
    • Mr. Grouse at the end decides to use part of the share of money Lola gave him to treat the both of them to ice cream.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Mr. Grouse ends up winning money for the gem, but Lynn Sr. takes all of it to pay for the damages to his house that happened in the struggle to cash it in.
  • Rapid Hair Growth: Lisa puts Lily in a device that makes the latter's hair grow into the same color and style as the former, which Lisa states is for the purpose of Lily taking her place in first grade. Even when Lisa walks away, Lily's hair continues to grow.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: To ensure neither one of them keeps the diamond for his or her self, Lola and Mr. Grouse agree to keep the diamond in a special case under lock and key. The next morning, the diamond goes missing, and both Lola and Mr. Grouse accuse the other of stealing it when their back was turned, proceeding to trash each other's house to find it. When Lincoln finds out, he reveals that the diamond was still in the case the whole time; the case was one he used for his magic shows, and it had a fake bottom to hide what was inside it.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The pizza seen on Mr. Grouse's roof could be a reference to the infamous scene from the Breaking Bad episode "Caballo Sin Nombre," where Walt tosses a pizza onto the roof of his house out of anger.
    • The episode title is a reference to Diamonds Are Forever.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Massive property damage isn’t free to repair, so when Mr. Grouse and Lola make big money off their diamond, Lynn Sr happily and unapologetically snatches Mr. Grouse’s half of the money away, saying it will be enough to pay for the damages Grouse caused to the Loud House. But this works out, cause Lola gives Grouse her half of the money so that he can pay for the damages to his own house.
  • Swallow the Key: Mr. Grouse does this to the key to the diamond case.
Mr. Grouse: No worry. It won't be in there long. I eat a lot of fiber.
    Lola: Ew.
  • This Is My Side: Mr. Grouse and Lola decide Royal Woods isn't big enough for the two of them, and decide to split a map and each take half the town.
