Recap / The Loud House S 3 E 15 Absent Minded Be Stella My Heart

Go To

Absent Minded: Clyde discovers he didn't earn a junior administrator job, but can't give up the perks that come along with it.

Be Stella My Heart: When the new girl starts hanging around Lincoln and his friends, they begin to suspect she likes one of them.

"Absent Minded"

  • Big "NO!": Clyde does this when he finds an entry in his diary that states he didn't go to school that day.
  • Cassandra Truth: When Clyde tries to confess he doesn't have a perfect attendance record to Principal Huggins, the latter thinks Clyde is simply being too modest.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Coach Pacowski and Nurse Patti are still together following the events of "Teachers Union".
    • Lincoln and Clyde go to Coach Pacowski's houseboat.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Clyde.
  • Delayed Reaction: When flipping through his diary, Clyde comes across an entry that states he didn't go to school that day. It takes a while before this realization hits him.
  • Dramatic Stutter: When Clyde hears that part of being junior administrator includes getting to read the morning announcements:
    Clyde: M-M-Morning announcements?!
Principal Huggins: Well, if you're going to stutter like that, you can't do it.
  • Foreshadowing: When Norm stumbles upon Lincoln and Clyde cleaning the restroom, he mentions that he hasn't gone in there since the great flood of 2012. It's later revealed that was the reason Clyde missed school.
  • Imagine Spot: Clyde has one in which he, as an adult, becomes the new principal of Royal Woods Elementary, is married to Lori, and summons Lincoln's son to his office.
  • Maintain the Lie: When Clyde, against his earlier decision to confess, decides to keep his supposedly not earned perfect attendance plaque, he and Lincoln have to prevent anyone from finding out the truth. To this end, they try to bribe anyone who possibly overheard Clyde confess that he doesn't have a perfect attendance into keeping silent by doing chores for them.
  • Rule of Three: Clyde thinking that somebody heard him say that he missed a day of school. This is lampshaded by Lincoln when Clyde attempts to say it a fourth time.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: In the end, Clyde's worries turn out to have been for naught. The real reason he missed a day of school was because the school had to close due to a flooded toilet.

"Be Stella My Heart"

  • Aesop Amnesia: Lincoln apparently forgets about the lesson he learned in "White Hare" about being himself as he dresses properly to try to impress Stella so she will choose him as her boyfriend.
  • Ascended Extra: This is Stella's first physical appearance.
  • Ash Face: All five boys end up with these after Zach accidentally drops a vial of explosive chemicals during science class.
  • Backing Away Slowly: Stella approaches the group wanting to work on a lab project in Science. The boys freak out, causing a dropped set of chemicals which explodes. Stella just watched this looking utterly confused and dumbfounded, and awkwardly backs away with the same expression.
  • Big Ball of Violence: Between Lincoln and his friends during gym class.
  • Dodge Ball Is Hell: Lincoln and his friends find themselves on the receiving end of this again, mainly because, due to their feud over Stella, they refuse to use the snake formation, and thus have no defense, and they target each other instead of the other team. They all end up at the nurse's office.
  • Feud Episode: Between Lincoln and his four friends when they mistakenly believe Stella has a crush on one of them, but can't figure out whom. It leads to feelings of jealousy, competition, and eventually a big brawl for her affection between the five.
  • Given Name Reveal: It's revealed that the new girl's name is Stella.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: Of Rusty’s mouth the first time Stella approaches the boys.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: Clyde tries to adjust to not wearing glasses in order to improve his chances with Stella. It fails since he’s obviously Blind Without 'Em.
  • Just Friends: It turns out Stella didn't have a romantic interest with Lincoln and his guy friends at all; she only just wanted to be friends with them.
  • Mistaken for Romance: Stella is just trying to be friends with the boys, but they interpret her actions as her having a crush on one of them.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lincoln and his friends realize their feud went too far when Nurse Patti calls them out on ditching the snake formation during dodgeball. This occurs again when Stella tells why she really talked to them one-on-one.
  • Never My Fault: When the boys realize how ridiculous their feud was, they come to the conclusion that Stella is to blame for what happened. However, Stella proves them wrong.
  • Perverted Sniffing: When the boys are discussing how attractive Stella is, Rusty brings up that he likes how her hair smells. This causes the other boys to look shocked at him, and Rusty himself thinks that was too far.
  • Running Gag: Clyde, after ditching his glasses, tries to talk to his friends, but doesn't realize that he's facing away from them until one of them turns him in the right direction.
  • Sequel Episode: To "White Hare". Stella, the girl Lincoln tried to impress in that episode, returns and plays a major role in the plot.
  • Squick: invoked When Rusty admits that he likes the way Stella’s hair smells, the others give him looks of surprise and disgust.
  • Twinkle Smile: Zach after he has his teeth whitened to impress Stella.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Girl Jordan, as usual. When Lincoln falls and spills food all over him right in front of Girl Jordan in the lunchroom, she barely looks up from her tray as she’s eating.
