The new My Little Pony cartoon took a weird turn.
Star's best friend from Mewni, Flying Princess Pony Head, stops by for a night out. Star drags Marco along, ecstatic at the thought of her Earth-bestie and Mewni-bestie meeting. But Pony Head doesn't exactly approve of Marco, and has a dark secret of her own that might make things rough...

Despite Pony Head's horrible treatment of him, Marco comes to her aid along with Star when she is threatened by goons. Touched, Pony Head gives Star her Dimensional Scissors and attempts to draw the goons away. Her father, King Pony Head, appears. He reveals that because of her unruly behavior, she was being sent to St. Olga's Reform School For Wayward Princesses, and she was trying to have one last night of fun before she had to go. She acknowledges Marco as a friend and leaves with the goons and her father. Star notes that with the scissors, she and Marco can now travel to any world.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: Two, actually:
    • First, even if you are good friends with two people, you shouldn't expect them to always automatically get along with each other, or warm up to each other with enough time.
    • Second, you shouldn't just let a friend's cruel behavior slide and hope they'll get better on their own. You need to let them know what they did was wrong, and if their behavior gets too extreme, you may even have to end the friendship altogether.
  • Blatant Lies: When fleeing the Amethyst Arcade, Pony Head assures Star that Marco "went on ahead... um, yes, he wanted to save us a good spot in the mosh pit. Yes, that is the course of events."
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: The goons from St. Olga's torture Marco by... turning the light they're using for Perp Sweating on and off really fast.
    Marco: That is really annoying!
  • Crowd Surfing: Star and Pony Head indulge in being carried by the crowd in "The Scum Bucket" underwater nightclub.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Pony Head threatens Marco with her horn and nearly knocks him off the Bounce Lounge platform merely because Star referred to him as her "bestie".
  • Distinction Without a Difference: King Pony Head tells his daughter not to worry so much about St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses.
King Pony Head: It's reform school, cupcake, not jail. Although, admittedly, it is a lot like jail.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: At the Bounce Lounge, Pony Head starts riding around on another patron, who looks rather distressed as she tells him "You LIKE that! You know you do!"
  • Elite Mooks: The guards of St. Olga's are scarily competent and relentless.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Granted, it was her fault that the St. Olga's guards caught Marco and were interrogating him, but Pony Head nevertheless fits the trope by giving her Dimensional Scissors to Star and leading the guards away from Marco, ultimately getting caught.
  • Insult Backfire: Marco while jousting with Pony Head says "Your mother is a horse!"
  • Jaw Drop: Marco's reaction to seeing King Pony Head for the first time.
  • "Just Joking" Justification: Pony Head openly insults Marco on first meeting him, then brushes it off with this.
Pony Head: I hate your face! Plus you're ugly! (chuckles) Just kidding. That's a joke!
  • Last-Second Word Swap: Marco, attempting to trash talk, slings "your mother's a horse!" at Pony Head. Pony Head follows up with "Ah, ok, and your point would be?", lampshading how lame Marco is.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: "Marco's Super-Awesome Nachos".
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Star referring to Marco as her "bestie" kicks off the plot, since it triggers Pony Head's Yandere's tendencies. Star realizes this but still thinks she can save the situation by making Marco and Pony Head bond. It doesn't work.
  • Noodle Incident: Star refers to Pony Head having been "possessive" before.
  • Perp Sweating: The thugs from St. Olga's try this on Marco by repeatedly clicking a desk lamp on and off.
  • Photo-Booth Montage: Star, Marco, and Pony Head have one. Then Star lets her two besties have one by themselves, and between each shot Pony Head dishes out some threats to Marco.
  • The Power of Friendship: Star calling out Pony Head leads to the latter returning to save Marco from the St. Olga's guards, at the cost of getting caught and sent to St. Olga's.
  • Put on a Bus: Poor Pony Head...
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The goons from St. Olgas are this.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Marco does this when Pony Head first appears.
  • Shout-Out: The square people at the Amethyst Arcade fall and stack themselves a la Tetris.
  • There's No Place Like Home: At the end, when Star tells him they can go anywhere they want in the universe, Marco replies that he knows just the place. Next scene they're on the couch at Marco's place, watching TV and stuffing their faces with nachos.
  • Unwanted Assistance: Marco's on the cusp of freeing himself from being tied to a chair, only for Star to come in and try to help him anyway (despite his protests). The result? Marco gets covered in snakes.
  • Visual Pun: Pony Head quips that the Amethyst Arcade is "full of squares". Cue a cut to a crowd of nerdy square-shaped people groaning at that comment.
  • Yandere: Pony Head is the platonic sort, wanting to be Star's only "bestie". She nearly murders Marco once.
  • Your Mom: When challenging Pony Head in Lance Lance Revolution, Marco taunts her with "Your mother's a horse!"
