Super Evil Aquatic Villain Team Up is Go!

Original air date: 10/14/2012 (produced in 2011)

Plankton and Man Ray team up.

"Super Evil Aquatic Villain Team Up is Go!" contains examples of:

  • Bat Signal: Parodied. Plankton and Man Ray invade the Krusty Krab, so SpongeBob goes to the roof and activates the Mermaid Man signal. However, it's the middle of the day, so the light isn't visible. He has to go to them in person instead.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The episode ends with Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, and Squidward laughing at Plankton when he is charged with the bill.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: When SpongeBob tells Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy about Man Ray, they flat out refuse to do anything about it, telling SpongeBob that he has to be his own hero this time. However, they do show up at the very end to arrest Man Ray after he becomes too fat from the krabby patties SpongeBob gave him.
  • Fat Slob: Man Ray turns into this as a result of all the krabby patties he eats.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: SpongeBob manages to sneak into the retirement home by shriveling his body to look like a senior.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Man Ray is shown working a part time job at a supermarket.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: Mr. Krabs charges Plankton for all the krabby patties Man Ray ate.
  • Shout-Out: The title is possibly a reference to Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!
  • Villain Team-Up: Plankton recruits Man Ray for this purpose, which doesn't work out all that well for Plankton.

Chum Fricassee

Original air date: 10/21/2012 (produced in 2011)

Squidward starts working at the Chum Bucket and turns it into an overnight success that shuns the Krusty Krab.

"Chum Fricassee" contains examples of:

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Squidward becomes even more arrogant when he becomes a celebrity from making chum fricassee, and starts ordering Plankton to make the chum faster causing it to become undercooked and poisoning the customers.
  • An Aesop: Don't undercook food, especially if it's being served to others.
  • Agony of the Feet: Squidward's grandma stomps her walker on Squidward's foot a couple of times.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: After the customers in the Chum Bucket start rioting, they throw the trashcans across the room, throw their plates of chum at the walls, and one person pulls all the napkins out of the napkin dispenser.
    Plankton: Not the napkins!
  • Bad Boss: Mr. Krabs literally tells Squidward he doesn’t value him at all and at the end, he uses him as a doormat.
  • Brick Joke: Early in the episode, Squidward complains about Mr. Krabs being too cheap to buy a doormat. At the end, Squidward's "promotion" is him being the new doormat.
  • The Chew Toy: The fact that even his own grandmother doesn't want him to be happy shows just how much of a Butt-Monkey Squidward is. To be fair though, he was taking shortcuts.
  • Easily Condemned: All it takes is Grandma Tentacles exposing him for undercooking the chum to cause the previously adoring customers to turn on Squidward and burn down the restaurant.
  • Gruesome Grandparent: Squidward’s grandmother is pretty awful. Not only does she publicly humiliate her grandson for cooking her recipe wrong, but she actually encourages the enraged customers to burn down Le Chum Bucket, destroying his fame.
  • Guilt by Association Gag: Even though it was Squidward's decision to serve the chum when it wasn't finished, it's Plankton's restaurant that ends up being burned to the ground.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Squidward’s grandmother is definitely not a nice old lady, but she was right that Squidward should've just waited for the chum to finish cooking.
  • Line-of-Sight Name: Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob disguise themselves to get into the Chum Bucket. When Karen asks for their names, Mr. Krabs is about to say his real name until he sees a wrapper on the floor and introduces himself as "Sir Krumbled O'Wrapper".
  • Never My Fault: When Grandma Tentacles confronts Squidward over cooking her chum recipe wrong, he initially tries to pin it on Plankton. However, he’s having none of it, and reminds Squidward that he told him he didn’t care if the chum was ready or not.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Mr. Krabs telling Squidward he doesn't value him at all is what prompts Squidward to accept Plankton's offer to work for him.
  • No Sympathy: Squidward's grandmother shows no remorse for costing him his fame, and even feels he got what he deserved at the end.
  • Shout-Out: While the Chum Bucket is being destroyed, a fish shouts, "I'm mad as heck and I'm not gonna take it anymore!"
  • Tempting Fate: After the Chum Fricasee becomes a hit, Mr. Krabs says "Well, at least our loyal clientele haven't jumped on the chum wagon." before everyone left. Even lampshaded by SpongeBob.
  • The Unreveal: How Grandma Tentacles figured out that Squidward was undercooking the chum is never explained.
  • Unstoppable Rage: The customers burn the Chum Bucket to the ground after they found out they were eating undercooked chum.
  • Waking Non Sequitur: When Plankton falls asleep waiting for the Squidward to cook the chum, Squidward sets the plate down in front of him and Plankton wakes up, shouting, "Who took my blue blankie?"
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: For Squidward and Plankton. Thanks to the chum fricassee, the Chum Bucket was finally becoming successful. Unfortunately, it ends when Squidward's grandmother shows up and reveals that Squidward was undercooking the chum, then telling the angry customers to riot, causing Squidward to lose his fanbase and the Chum Bucket to be burned to the ground.
