"Oh Chibi-usa! Is this your new friend? Hotaru Tomoe? She's so adorable and delicate and full of light! Not like you at all. You can learn a thing or two from her. Just make sure not to be rude when visiting her place, you got that? And if you cause her any trouble, In the Name of the Moon, I'll punish you!”
Usagi Tsukino

(CWi Episode: "Rini's Risky Friendship")

After learning about Chibi-usa making a new friend, Usagi worms her way into becoming her chaperone for an upcoming house visit only to experience a great disturbance when she sees an old face from her rogue's gallery. And on the night before, Mamoru requests an audience with the Outer Guardians to gain a better understanding of their rationale while encouraging them to work with the Inners.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Hotaru starts to laugh when she witnesses Usagi and Chibi-usa bickering.
  • Back from the Dead: Through reasons unclear, Kaolinite has returned from the dead and is now the personal assistant for the Tomoe residence.
  • Bad Boss: When she finds herself outnumbered again, Mimete orders her Daimon to fight all of the heroes alone; she then yells at the Daimon when she argues that it's too much for her. If that wasn't enough, she resorts to strangling U-Henshuu while leaving her to die via Rainbow Moon Heartache.
  • Bathtub Bonding: Usagi and Chibiusa are shown bathing together in the start and end of the episode.
  • Big Damn Heroes: As Sailor Moon is restrained by U-Henshuu's giant paper and about to be cut, Pluto attacks with Dead Scream while Uranus helps her out.
  • Book Ends: The episode ends with Usagi and Chibi-usa engaging in Bathtub Bonding as they talk about Hotaru.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: Minako, Ami and Makoto discuss with each other on how they helped Chibi-usa with her upcoming friend date. While Minako offered fashion advice and Ami suggested sharing reading material, Makoto wishes she could have made cookies that looked like Chibiusa's friend's face which weirds out the other two.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Uranus and Moon get into another argument about working together while the other Outers battle the Daimon.
  • The Cavalry: The Inner Guardians show up to help battle U-Henshuu. Mercury even goes to check on an unconscious Katakuri.
  • Continuity Nod: Usagi thinks to herself how she and her friends saw Kaolinite fall to her death.
  • Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: Chibi-usa sings the melody of "Otome no Policy" while she and her mother are bathing.
  • Foreshadowing: As she takes in the beauty of Hotaru's room, Chibi-usa states that it looks like something from another world. If only she knew how right she was...
  • Freudian Slip: While lying about having found her new target, Mimete mentions that she's going to go after his autograph instead of his Pure Heart.
  • Hugh Mann: The woman formerly known as Kaolinite now goes by "Kaori". In the Cloverway Dub, she goes from Kaorinite to "Kaori Night".
  • I Know Your True Name: Michiru refers to Mamoru by his past life's name Endymion to show how much she and her Outer friends know about him.
  • Identical Stranger: The bun-head assumes that Kaori is a different woman from the same villain who died while trying to take her Pure Heart.
  • Internal Reveal: Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna transform into Sailor Guardians in front of Mamoru.
  • It's All My Fault: Neptune accepts that it was their fault that the new enemy managed to create their base within the Solar System while they were unawakened. Uranus uses this fact to justify why it must be only them and Pluto to deal with the Death Busters while refusing to let the Inner Guardians work alongside them.
  • Look Behind You: Usagi tricks Rei by thinking that Michael Jackson was in the area so she can steal Chibi-usa from her.
  • Missing Mom: Hotaru mentions that her mom died a long time ago.
  • Mistaken for Romance: The Inner Girls assume that Chibi-usa's new friend is a boy that she's fallen in love with. Which makes sense given her previous candidates when it came to her friend making mission.
  • Mood Whiplash: The guests are fascinated with Hotaru's room which is dark and filled with beautiful glowing lamps. But then the room's mistress falls to the floor after another seizure.
  • Morph Weapon: The Best Selling Daimon can turn her hands into mundane tools to help her fight.
  • Mysterious Protector: Long ago, the Three Outers used to protect Silver Millenium by standing guard against any outside threats that would try to invade and wreak havoc on their Solar System.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Usagi reacts this way when the Bruja Escarlata opens the door.
    • Usagi and Chibiusa are shocked to realize that Ukon Katakuri's autograph session is about to end soon.
  • Paper Master: U-Henshuu uses giant papers to attack Sailor Moon.
  • Passive Aggressive Combat: Kaori's attitude can be seen as this as she makes small but rude remarks towards Hotaru and her guests.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stronger Than They Look: Pluto explains that as Guardians of the Outer Solar System, she and her friends were given greater powers so they can overcome any threats that try to invade their home galaxy.
  • Voice of the Legion: After touching the Cosmic Heart Compact, Hotaru's other self begins to speak stating that she feels herself getting stronger just by it's presence.
  • We Need a Distraction: Usagi has Chibiusa take Hotaru away from the autograph location while she deals with Mimete and her Best Selling Daimon.
  • You Didn't Ask: Chibi-usa smugly states that her new friend wasn't a boy after her mother is surprised to see Hotaru in person.
