Recap / SMG4's Mario Bloopers: MARIOS OKAY

Go To

Mario goes a bit coo COO crazy

After being trapped by the Zero-possessed Axol, Mario, SMG4 and SMG3 find themselves in a strange dimension…

  • Big Damn Heroes: SMG1 and 2 are the ones to help Mario, SMG4, and SMG3 break out of the mind torture.
  • Blatant Lies: See the title.
  • Brick Joke: Mario still needs to piss.
  • Character Development: When SMG3 and SMG4 are first instructed to use their power by holding hands, they are initially disgusted to do so and only did it because they had to. The next time they did that, however, they were more willing to do so.
  • Cliffhanger: The SMGs escape back to reality, only to find Ax0l standing atop Peach’s castle, surrounded by the Guardian Pods and Mario’s floating, unconscious body.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: Early on in the episode, SMG3 tries convince himself and everyone else that they're in a coma and nothing they're seeing is real. Turns out that they were consciously trapped in SMG0's mind torture simulation, so he wasn't very far off.
  • Embarrassing Superpower: Played with in that the power itself is incredible but the activation method is thoroughly embarrassing. SMG4 and SMG3 can use the power of memes to change the universe around them but only when they hold hands. As mortal enemies, neither is happy with this arrangement.
  • Foreshadowing: The blue square and the yellow ball look quite similar to two familiar characters...
  • Gone Horribly Right: SMG3 and SMG4 tried to make Mario grow with meme energy so that they could escape the USB but passed out in the process. They escape anyway, because the uneven channeling caused Mario to explode, but the resulting explosion made Mario unconscious, allowing Ax0l to get his hands on him.
  • Holding Hands: How the SMGs use their superpowers. SMG3 and SMG4 are initially disgusted by this.
  • Madness Mantra: The title is this, repeating a total of seven times. And clearly, it's Mario trying to reassure himself that he's going to be alright. In the episode itself, though...
  • Make My Monster Grow: SMGs can make their avatars absorb memes to make them grow. SMG3 and SMG4 try this on Mario to escape SMG3's USB, but…
  • Never Trust a Title: Clearly, Mario is not okay. Especially during the ending.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: For the second time in a row, the credits are completely silent after something terrible happens.
  • Not Quite Dead: SMG1 and SMG2 make a spectacular return.
  • Not So Above It All: Up to this point, SMG0 was depicted as a mindless destroyer of worlds, then we see it spinning to "You Spin Me Round" as a form of torture to the Marios.
  • Rewatch Bonus: Zero's eye didn't merely smash into a random block on accident: It was actually SMG1. No wonder it was so easy to escape…
  • Shout-Out: The empty room from SB-129 appears.
    oww my ass
    oww my ass
    oww my ass
    oww my ass
  • Slasher Smile: Ax0l gives one to the SMGs once it's revealed that he had found all of the Guardian Pods and had captured Mario.
  • Status Quo Is God: Peach's castle, which was destroyed two episodes ago, is good as new. Funny considering this is an arc…
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: SMG1 and SMG2 instruct SMG3 and SMG4 to make Mario grow with their meme powers. However, SMG3 and SMG4 had only just discovered their powers, so they end up fainting from inexperience.
  • Surreal Horror / Surreal Humor: The episode is full of it.
  • The Reveal:
    • SMG1 and SMG2 are alive.
    • SMGs are called "meme guardians."
    • Zero's name is indeed SMG0.
  • Wham Episode: SMG1 and 2 are revealed to be alive, but SMG0 has found all of the Guardian Pods for his plan.

"Alone" to "Oww my ass"

The moment where Squidward is left in a White Void Room in SpongeBob SquarePants is referenced directly in the SMG4 episode "MARIO'S OKAY". Only replace "Alone" with "Oww my ass".

How well does it match the trope?
