Mario's back to funk on friday night

After Daddy Dearest had his soul exorcised from his body since his last encounter with the SMG4 crew, a devastated Mommy Mearest wants revenge. She puts a curse on the crew members that forces them to dance forever. The only way to reverse it is to defeat her and the monsters she rounded up in another dance-off.

This blooper provides examples of:

  • Avenging the Villain: Mommy Mearest wants revenge on the Glitchy Gang for what they did to her husband after the last "If Mario was in...Friday Night Funkin'", cursing them into endless dancing.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Hal Monitor ends his battle with Tankman by firing a bullet into the latter's head, killing him.
  • The Bus Came Back: This marks the first major appearances of Hal Monitor and Belle Fontiere in 2021, both of whom have disappeared for a long time.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Instead of Funkin', Pico strafes Luigi with his gun before Swagmaster intervenes.
  • Dark Lord on Life Support: Daddy Dearest is confined to a wheelchair and can only speak a TTS system like Stephen Hawking.
  • Dragon Ascendant: In the first Friday Night Funkin' episode, Mommy Mearest was just a minor villain summoned by Daddy Dearest, her husband, to thwart Mario and Boyfriend. Here, Mommy takes over to avenge Daddy.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Mommy Mearest is devastated to find that her husband is comatose following his defeat, and when she too is defeated later, they share a Golden Moment together.
  • Everything Has Rhythm: Hal and Tankman engage in a gun fight rather than rapping at each other, but they still shoot in sync with the song.
  • Groin Attack: When it looks like Senpai is about to snap after losing the rap battle, Saiko cuts it short with a swift kick in the balls.
  • Involuntary Dance: What Mommy Mearest makes everyone do, forcing them to move to music from Friday Night Funkin'.
  • Killed Offscreen: After Daddy Dearest leaves with Mommy Mearest on his floating wheel-chair, a caption reveals that they were shot down for invading the Mushroom Kingdom's airspace.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Tankman and Hal Monitor don't bother with a rap battle and instead engage in a shootout.
  • Only in It for the Money: Belle outright says this when asked why she's helping Mommy.
Tari: Belle! What are you doing here?
Belle: Hey, she's paying good money.
  • Sequel Episode: A followup of "If Mario Was In.... Friday Night Funkin", where Daddy Dearest is left incapacitated by Mario, prompting Mommy Mearest to put a curse on Mario and his friends. It also gives more of the Glitchy Gang a chance at rapping after not showing up in the previous episode.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: After Mommy Mearest's curse is broken, Daddy Dearest uses a mechanical arm to pick her up and takes her away, saying that revenge is pointless and they still have each other.
  • Shields Are Useless: Tankman's "shield" is merely a pillow with a picture of an anime figure on it, which he holds in front of his head. It works just as well as you'd think, and the fight ends with him getting a bullet in between his eyes.
  • Shout-Out: Saiko says "What the funky fresh hell is this?", referencing the Funky Fource from Sunset Paradise.
  • Temporarily a Villain: Despite her Heel–Face Turn, Belle sides with the bad guys in this episode because Mommy Mearest was "paying good money".
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After getting kicked around by Saiko all episode (and pretty much all their screentime together), Whimpu finally gains her approval by offering her a bucket of KFC chicken wings over Senpai's offering of chocolate.
