Tropes

  • Batman Gambit: While it initially seems like he's just petulantly lying out of pride, Leo seems to have actually thought through his deal with Big Mama, including the part where she double-crosses him.
  • Big Damn Heroes: April saves Donnie thanks to a good use of a crane.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Leo's reaction upon realizing Splinter dated Big Mama.
  • Brain Bleach: Leo is quite disturbed to hear about Splinter's love life with Big Mama and he begs his father to stop once details about the former relationship are discussed.
  • Brick Joke: April mockingly repeats a question people have told her on why she has a crane license. When Leo meets up with them, he brings up her crane license.
  • Came Back Wrong: The Foot Clan suspect something wrong with the Shredder as he has become much more feral. Splinter believes this is not the same Shredder he had heard tales about.
  • Crazy-Prepared: April apparently has a crane license in the case she has to use it to wreck shit up.
April: (mockingly while she's off saving Donnie) "Why do you have a crane license April?" Because THIS!
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: The heroes put some effort in fighting the berserker Shredder, but it proves too powerful for them. Its Power Incontinence, randomly warping away before it could finish, saves the turtles from becoming soup. Thanks to Leo in the end, Big Mama restrains the Shredder Armor.
  • Dope Slap: Splinter gives Leo one for trying to act like they won at the start of the episode.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Draxum is shocked to learn that the Foot Clan was just using him.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Lou never thought anything was off with Big Mama even though their living room was covered in cobwebs.
  • Lying Finger Cross: While Big Mama helps Splinter and the Turtles capture the feral Shredder, she secretly forms a last-minute adjustment to her plan of banishing him as initially promised.
  • Negative Space Wedgie: As stated above, Shredder keeps teleporting away before it can finish off the turtles. Big Mama states that this is because its quantum energy is unstable.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: The gang, minus Splinter, all pass out once the day is won. Understandable since, as April points out, they've been fighting the Shredder for three days nonstop.
  • Pre Ass Kicking Oneliner: Mikey, Raph and Donnie each have their own variations when they fight Shredder.
    • Mikey: "Whip-o-rama!" (hurls freight ship at Shredder)
    • Raph: "Power punches ahoy!" (uses a Hard Light form to punch Shredder)
    • Donnie: "Eat science!" (unleashes an army's worth of tech)
  • Something Only They Would Say: Splinter has the guard tell Big Mama that her "snuggle muffin beef cake" wishes to see her. When Big Mama arrives and asks how Splinter knows that phrase, he sweeps her off her feet and it's then she realizes who he is.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Big Mama helps the heroes restrain Shredder, but secretly makes plans for the demon armor.
  • Record Needle Scratch: When the the Foot recruit notices the Shredder is resurrected, she cuts herself off mid-rant to one of these.
  • Seen It All: Leo knows his brothers so well that he correctly guess exactly how things went while he and Splinter were gone. Raph even remarks on his accuracy.
  • The Reveal: Splinter (as Lou Jitsu) was in love with Big Mama.
  • Tickle Torture: Nothing the turtles do can hurt the Shredder. Fortunately, they learn that he's ticklish and use that to stall him. Unfortunately, he starts attacking again after being distracted by some fireworks.
  • Took a Level in Badass: All the turtles gain levels of badassery in this episode.
    • Mikey: Uses his kusari-fundo to hurl a freight ship at Shredder, to the point that Raph and Donnie are in awe. To give you an example, a freight ship on average is 100,000 Tons!
    • Raph: Uses his Hard Light form to knock Shredder around.
    • Donnie: Unleashes all his tech in a Zerg Rush.
    • Leo: Uses his smooth-talking skills to make a deal with Big Mama and get what he wants and have her fulfill her end of the bargain, before expertly showing off his improved odachi skills.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: With his power drained and the Shredder on the loose, Draxum flees the scene via portal.
