"GIRLS NIGHT!!!!"
April and Sunita search New York for Sunita's stolen cloaking brooch.

This episode includes examples of:

  • Absurd Phobia: While stuck in the Turtle Tank, Raph says he’s “tankophobic”.
  • Bait-and-Switch: After April fakes her way through a newscast, the head honcho of the crew seems like she's angry, only for her to praise April's performance.
  • Big Red Button: Raphael finds one in the tank and, of course, immediately presses it before Donnie can stop him. It puts the entire tank into lockdown mode for 24 hours, trapping them all inside.
Raphael: Hey, you know Raph loves giant buttons!
  • Black Market: The Brooch District
  • Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: In a Freeze-Frame Bonus, the labels on the hot sauce April feeds Meat Sweats are “Spicy Sombrero: Pepper Sauce”, “Habanero Hermanas Hot Sauce”, “Super Suriano Extra Hot Chili Sauce”, “Fire Ants: Peri-Peri Sauce”, “Avila Hot Sauce”, and “Ghost Pepper: Super Hot Sauce”.
  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: Meat Sweats, a giant monstrous pig, uses a huge meat tenderizer as a weapon, befitting his occupation as a chef.
  • Cabin Fever: The boys start going crazy from being stuck in the tank: Raphael is beating at the walls, Donnie is furiously trying to reprogram the system, Mikey is roasting marshmallows over a candle, Leonardo is laying in a Troubled Fetal Position on the floor, and Splinter is running around in just his underwear.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The show Sunita was watching at the beginning of the episode about barbecue comes into play at the end when she and April lure Meat Sweats into its studio and a hungry crowd descends upon him.
  • Crowd Surfing: April and Sunita do this at DIGG’s concert.
Sunita: I’m floating on a sea of fingers!
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Splinter acts like one in the beginning of the episode in order to ratchet up the intensity of the turtles’ upcoming survival training.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: The whole time the turtles and Splinter are trapped in the tank, April assumes they went on a camping trip like they said they would. She references it several times throughout the episode, only for the scene to cut back to them losing their minds in the Turtle Tank that’s still sitting in the garage.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Sunita tells her that, despite the trouble they’ve gotten into, the night’s been way more fun than watching her barbecue show, April realizes how she can use that show to take down Meat Sweats.
  • Faint in Shock: Sunita uses her slime abilities to scare a security guard so badly that he passes out, allowing her and April to sneak right past him.
  • Fire-Breathing Diner: Meats Sweats falls victim to this when April serves him some spicy food.
  • Food Fight: April and Sunita throw appetizers at Meat Sweats to try to keep him at bay. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t do much.
  • Girl's Night Out Episode: This episode has April and Sunita hunting down Sunita's stolen cloaking brooch while the turtles and Splinter's B-plot is them stuck in a 24-hour lockdown in the Turtle Tank.
April & Sunita: [in unison] GIRLS NIGHT!!!!!!
  • Here We Go Again!: When the turtles are finally free from the tank, April accidentally locks them in the garage by pressing yet another Big Red Button. She and Sunita then declare another girl's night.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: The reason why Meat Sweats steals Sunita’s cloaking broach is because he wants to return to his old life as a TV chef.
  • I'll Never Tell You What I'm Telling You!: When April inquires about Sunita's brooch, the vendor she's speaking to claims he won't tell her anything while giving a very specific description of the buyer.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Sunita watches a show that appears to be nothing, but putting sauce on a roasting pig.
  • Infernal Background: One appears behind April when she shows Meat Sweats how much hot sauce she put into the dish she fed him.
  • It's All My Fault: April blames herself for Sunita getting robbed of her brooch. Sunita agrees that going to the concert caused the theft to happen along with the rest of that night’s trouble, but she states that it made it a very exciting night.
  • It's the Best Whatever, Ever!:
April & Sunita: [in unison] BEST GIRLS NIGHT EVER!!!
  • Lazy Alias: To bluff the news team, April introduces herself as April O'Nimbus.
  • Literal Metaphor: Meat Sweats claims that Guy Flambé is a bit tied up and then clarifies that he's being literal. Guy is then shown stuffed in a cabinet, tied up with an apple in his mouth.
  • Niche Network: Sunita is apparently a big fan of the Barbecue Channel.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The name of the host of the Show Within a Show Kondescending Kitchen that Meat Sweats is trying to replace is Guy Flambé. He also happens to have spiky bleached hair, sunglasses, and a flame-patterned shirt.
  • Pun-Based Title: A play on the phrase “cloak and dagger” and the episode’s villain, Rupert Swaggart.
  • Put on a Bus: Raph accidentally locks himself and his family in the turtle tank for 24 hours, removing them from the episode's main plot.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Meat Sweats states this when explaining how he looks human again to the (In-Universe) audience. In fact, he says this phrase almost verbatim:
Meat Sweats: The details of my demise were greatly exaggerated.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: April says “wink, wink” out loud while trying to convince a brooch dealer to tell her where Sunita’s cloaking brooch is.
  • Shout-Out: As April and Sunita are running through the television studio they pass through different sets and appear to encounter Julia Child and Bob Ross.
  • Squeaky Eyes: Splinter just audibly blinks at Mikey when he mistakes their outdoor survival training for a camping trip.
  • Tempting Fate: When Sunita starts expressing doubt about the mission, April asks her if she really thinks she'd get them into trouble. Cue them stumbling into a newscast.
  • Transformation Trinket: When Sunita gets her cloaking brooch stolen at a concert, she and April have to search New York City to get it back.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Leo assumes this pose at one point while trapped in the Turtle Tank.
  • Villain of the Week: Rupert Swaggart, aka Meat Sweats, a mutant Pig Man.
  • What Does This Button Do?: Twice in this episode do characters press buttons, activating a twenty-four hour lock. Raph triggers the first one, which traps him, his brothers, and Splinter in the Turtle Tank. April triggers the second one, which traps the guys in the garage.

"Jupiter Jim ahoy!"

The Turtles meet their favorite sci-fi movie star, Jupiter Jim.

This episode includes examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: Jupiter Jim’s victims are very much still conscious despite being paralyzed and put on display, as a frozen Red Fox begs Raphael and Donatello for help after catching their attention.
  • Arc Words: "Jupiter Jim ahoy!"
  • Bear Hug: Marcus gives Leonardo a particularly bone-breaking one using his mech suit when the two decide to make peace with each other.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The turtles make peace with Marcus and released his victims, but he's still free with no guarantee that he'll stop kidnapping people. Also, Donnie's comic is no longer in mint condition.
  • Changing Clothes Is a Free Action: In a Chair Reveal, Marcus shows that he’s changed into his Jupiter Jim costume mere minutes after letting the turtles into his apartment.
Raphael: Wait a minute, did he just change into a Jupiter Jim costume?
  • Chekhov's Gun: Donnie's comic. It reveals the cure for Jupiter Jim's paralyzing technique.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Donny is busy explaining to Raphael that he didn’t really see the display of Jupiter Jim’s sidekick blinking and that it was just an optical illusion, when it blinks again and he freaks out.
  • Fan Boy: The turtles spend a good amount of time fanboying over Jupiter Jim.
  • Fan Convention: In this episode, the turtles attend Galaxy Con to get an autograph from their idol.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: A variation. At Galaxy Con, the turtles barely have to disguise themselves as they fit in perfectly with all the other cosplayers.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down:
Donatello: Now, if the masses puncture the mylar, save the comic, leave me behind.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: When Leo expresses joy over meeting his all-time favorite actor/role model/father figure i.e. Marcus, an annoyed Splinter reminds him that he’s standing right in front of him.
  • I'm Your Biggest Fan: The turtles are this for Jupiter Jim.
  • Karma Houdini: Marcus faces no consequences for serial kidnapping.
  • Lost in Character: Marcus is stuck in his Jupiter Jim persona and kidnaps fans, forcing them into costumes and miniature sets and freezing them in place.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Splinter calls Jupiter Jim “Jupiter Jerk”.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: The comic book briefly becomes realistic when Donnie sadly examines a barely noticeable crease in the corner.
  • Pressure Point: Marcus uses the Jupiter Jim Nerve Pinch to paralyze Leonardo.
  • Properly Paranoid: As they hang with Marcus, Raph slowly starts getting suspicious of his behavior. His suspicions are proven right when it's revealed Marcus has been kidnapping people.
  • Sanity Ball: Raphael is the only one of the turtles who can see through his hero worship of Jupiter Jim long enough to notice his strange behavior.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: The turtles make “pew pew” noises and Donnie says "finger lasers" a lot while they role play with Marcus Moncrief.
  • Serious Business: Donnie takes the mint condition of his Jupiter Jim comic book very seriously, so much so that he hesitates to break its seal even to save Leo and Mikey.
Donatello: Can’t we just get new brothers?!
  • Skewed Priorities: Donnie, fanboy that his is, is initially overly reluctant to expose his mint-condition comic to open air, even though reading it will give them the answer to beating Marcus.
  • Starstruck Speechless: Leo is so tongue-tied around Jupiter Jim that he accidentally calls him “Jimiter Jup”.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: Leo plays on Marcus' delusions in order to talk him down.
  • Tempting Fate: Seeing that Jupiter Jim has Raphael in his grasp, Leonardo tells him that he’ll never catch the rest of them…right before Mikey and Donnie get snatched up as well.
  • Too Dumb to Live: When Marcus paralyzes Leo, Mikey cares more that a paralyzing technique from a movie is real and asks to be next.
  • Villain of the Week: Marcus Moncrief, aka Jupiter Jim, a washed-up B-movie star who’s determined to keep his sci-fi role alive.
  • Wall of Weapons: Marcus has one in his apartment that showcases all the different weapons from the Jupiter Jim franchise.
Donatello: Gentlemen, if you need me I will be living inside this cabinet.
