A Kid's Guide to Mars
The gang goes to Mars to collect information about how it has changed over time. Meanwhile, Face 9000's brother comes to visit.- Big Brother Bully: Inverted. Face's younger brother, Face 9001, is mean to him, argues with him, and always try to show off, to the point of the original Face calling "MOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!" at least two times.
- Insufferable Genius: Face 9001 is smart and makes sure to boast about it every chance he gets.
- It's All About Me: Mindy's self-centered thinking is showcased when she wonders why she isn't on a map.
- Once-Green Mars: This episode teaches about how long ago, Mars had things to support life, such as water.
- One-Shot Character: Face 9001 only appears in this episode and never comes back.
- Parental Favoritism: Face 9001 tries to invoke this. He convinces his brother Face 9000 that 9001 is their mom's favorite child.
- Sibling Rivalry: This episode shows that Face 9000 has a rivalry with Face 9001. Face 9001 is a bonafide little-brother-bully who pesters his brother, is always trying to one-up him, loves to show off, and outright gaslights Face 9000 into believing that he's the unfavorite of the family and that Face 9001 is smarter than him.
- To the Tune of...: Sean and Carrot sing a parody of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" called "Fly, Fly, Fly Your Saucer." Sunspot hates it."Fly, fly, fly your saucer down the Milky Way / Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily / This goes on all day"
- Two Lines, No Waiting: The episode has the main cast go to Mars to update the information on it in Carrot and Celery's guidebook, while the side-plot was Face 9001 visiting and having a rivalry with his brother, Face 9000.
- The Unfavorite: Face 9001 tries to convince Face 9000 that he's the unfavorite, and says that their mother always said that "Your brother knows everything," referring to 9001.
- The Voice: Face's mother is only heard, not shown.
Jet 2
Jet needs to be in two places at once, so he builds a robot version of himself to take his place.- An Aesop: It's not good to stay jealous.
- Animation Bump: The animation is crisper and more colorful than its' sister episode, thanks to it being animated by Digitales as opposed to Hot and Sour.
- Credits Gag: The credits to the episode play the Commander Cressida theme song.
- Friendship Moment: Sean and Sydney apologize to Jet for making him feel left out, and assure that they will always be his friends.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Jet gets jealous of Jet 2 because Sean and Sydney are playing with the robot and not the real Jet.
- Inherently Funny Words: Jet considers 'donut' to be one.
- Robot Buddy: Jet 2 is created to be a robot friend. And this episode won't be the last time he appears.
- Robot Me: Jet makes a robot version of himself named Jet 2 to do menial tasks for him. However, he is rusty, falls apart frequently, and has a limited vocabulary.
- Sentimental Music Cue: Somber piano music starts playing when Jet discovers what jealousy is.
- Something Something Leonard Bernstein: Jet mutters 'something something' when trying to recite the Commander Cressida theme song.
- Two-Timer Date: Jet wants to watch Commander Cressida with Sydney, but also promises to help Sean with something at the same time. Jet tries to remedy the situation by making a robot clone of himself called Jet 2 and having it watch Commander Cressida with Sydney while he helps Sean, but when Sean and Sydney start hanging out with the robot instead of the real Jet, he gets jealous.
- What Is This Feeling?: Jet builds his own robot clone. Then, he feels bad that Sean and Sydney are spending more time with Jet 2 than with the real Jet. Mindy helps him realize that he is experiencing jealousy for the first time.Jet: What does jealous mean? Is that some kind of jelly?Mindy: No, silly. Being jealous is feeling bad about being left out of something fun, or wanting something that somebody else has.Jet: Huh. Maybe I am a little jealous that Sean and Sydney took Jet 2 to the treehouse instead of staying here with me.
