Beep Has the Blues

Beep the rover is feeling sad because her sister, Boop, is sick. The gang flies to Mars to solve the problem.
  • Alien Non-Interference Clause: Celery reminds Jet of the Prime Directive: "don't freak out the locals." They don't want to be spotted on Mars via Boop's camera eyes.
  • Binocular Shot: Used when Sydney spots tire tracks on Mars, leading to Boop's location.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Jet isn't taking his secret identity seriously at all, and even thinks it would be funny to dance in front of the rover cameras.
  • Comedic Work, Serious Scene: The show is usually goofy and light-hearted, but this episode is rather sad and one scene in particular stands out as being quite serious. The kids find that their rover pal Beep doesn't feel like playing. Via video call, they find out that she has a sister on Mars named Boop, who is really sick, and the two of them are unsure about their future. This is the reason for Beep's sadness. Everyone is properly worried about the situation, even the happy-go-lucky Jet. This scene adds depth to the show because it demonstrates that robots have feelings too; it makes you feel sorry for a pair of rovers.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Dr. Rafferty has an early cameo in this episode, where she analyzes Boop's camera on Mars, and is incredulous when she sees a footprint on the surface and it disappears. Her proper debut is in "Visit to Mom's Office."
  • Inherently Funny Words: Celery thinks "binoculars" is a wonderful Earth word.
  • Just a Kid: Sean is unsure if he and the others can help save Boop, since they are just kids.
  • Shout-Out: After cleaning the dust off Boop's panels, Jet moonwalks. Well, he is on Mars, so it would be a Marswalk.
  • Shown Their Work: Rovers can and do get sick from having dust on their panels. Two real-life Mars rover died because of dusty panels; Spirit and Opportunity.
  • Title Drop: Jet says the episode's titles when he figures out that Beep has, well, the blues.
  • To the Tune of...: "Beep's a Rovin' Superstar!" has the same tune as "Night of a Bazillion Stars."

Chore Day

Jet doesn't want to do his chores, and finds that his friends have to do chores too. However, by applying science, they make the chores fun.
  • Hover Bike: This episode introduces the hover scooters (or "ka-flooples"), which are basically scooters that have a large platform, no wheels, and can hover. Jet doesn't want to test them out at first, but ends up enjoying it. The hover scooters will be seen in later episodes.
  • Friendship Moment: Sean, Sydney, and Mindy set out to help Jet with his own chore, since he helped them with theirs.
Mindy: When you're on Earth, that's what friends are for.
  • Irony: Jet starts the episode hating chores. After having fun with the other kids' chores, he ends up loving them...except his own chore of testing out the hover scooters, which he, of course, ends up enjoying.
Jet: Whether a job is work or fun, it's all in the way you look at it.
  • Kids Hate Chores: Jet doesn't want to do his chores because he thinks they're boring, and would rather play around with his friends. As it turns out, all his friends have to do chores as well — Sydney has to fold the laundry, Sean has to water the plants, and Mindy has to clean up her toys — but they find ways to make the chores fun and get them done quicker by applying science. In the end, Jet's chore was to test out the hover scooters, and he ends up having a lot of fun with it.
  • Pocket Dial: After Jet demonstrates a trick with an egg and sheet, Face 9000 pops up out of nowhere, startling Jet. Jet wonders if he pocket dialed him.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Jet being bummed out over having to test out the hover-scooters.
    Jet: Worst. Chore. Ever.
  • Ship Tease: Sydney gives Jet a loving look after he says his "all in the way you look at it" quote, and later calls him a "great man."
  • Trickster Mentor: Face 9000 keeps popping up whenever the kids are doing their chores to tell them that they are using force, and then keeps disappearing before he can explain what force is. At the end of the episode, the kids confront him about this, and he admits that he kept popping up because he was procrastinating on doing his own chore - cleaning out his memory chip.
  • Worst. Whatever. Ever!: Jet calls his chore of testing out the hover scooters the "Worst. Chore. Ever."
