Recap / Phineas And Ferb Fireside Girl Jamboree

Go To

After failing to get tickets to the Paisley Sideburn Brothers concert, Candace discovers she can still get tickets by joining the Fireside Girls, which she attempts to do by trying to get 50 patches in a single day. Meanwhile, Perry must stop Doofenshmirtz, who plans to use his Metal-Destructinator to destroy the bridge between the Fireside Girls cupcake factory and the mainland, hoping it'll help him lose some weight.

Tropes

  • Aspect Montage: A brief one is shown as Candace runs to Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. to deliver the last cupcake box.
  • Badass Adorable: Candace when she wrestles an alligator in a sewer to earn her "Wrestling an Alligator in a Sewer" patch.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Ferb says "Where's Perry?" after Candace drags Phineas off to take her to the Fireside Girls lodge. Also, when Candace delivers the last box of cupcakes to Dr. Doofenshmirtz:
Doofenshmirtz: Aren't you a little old to be a Fireside Girl?
    Candace: Yes, yes I am.
  • Continuity Nod: "Go, Go Candace" is a rewrite of "Go, Go Phineas" from "The Fast and the Phineas".
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: It's not until the end that Isabella gets the chance to explain to Candace that Fireside Girls are allowed to bring guests to the concert.
  • Embarrassing Middle Name: Phineas confirms that Candace's full legal name is Candace Gertrude Flynn, much to Candace's annoyance.
  • Everybody Do the Endless Loop: Isabella and Phineas' dancing at the concert is a nonstop loop of the same dance moves.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: In reference to the safety spiel at the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland, Phineas says, "Sigan sentados por favor", which essentially means "Remain seated please", when Candace is seated onto the rollercoaster delivery system. (Although the actual spiel says, "Remain seated please. Permanecer sentados por favor.") This is also a Mythology Gag to the pilot version of "Rollercoaster".
  • Gravity Is a Harsh Mistress: When Perry goes through the teleporter, Major Monogram tells him that they accidentally teleported him three feet too far to the right. Perry immediately starts to fall.
  • Helping Granny Cross the Street: Exaggerated when Candace is told by Phineas to help 15 senior citizens cross the street all at once. Candace thought he was giving her a math problem at first.
  • Loophole Abuse:
    • After Isabella nominates Candace to become a Fireside Girl but the initiation ceremony is not until next week when the concert is long over, Mrs. Feyersied reveals there is another way and instructs Isabella to read Article 9, Section Charlie, Footnote 6, which states the leader will induct the new member early if they earn fifty patches on the same day.
    • In the end when Candace forgets to set the last marker before her time ran out, Mrs. Feyersied gives yet another loophole and presents Candace with a special patch for breaking the all-time record; this grants her full status as a Fireside Girl and wins her concert ticket.
  • Merit Badges for Everything: Candace earns patches in such topics as "senior service", mountain climbing, ice-cream juggling, alligator wrestling, and cupcake delivery. Unfortunately, there is no patch for "persistence".
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: After falling from Major Monogram's teleportation error, Perry manages to use his grappling hook to get inside the building, and he even manages to avoid Doofenshmirtz's trap. Major Monogram then tells him that they fixed the coordinates on the teleporter; unfortunately, that gets him stuck in the trap.
Doofenshmirtz: I don't know what just happened, but I like it.
  • No, You: Candace tries to get into the Fireside Girls' website, only to be told "You have exceeded your login attempts".
Candace: No, you've exceeded your login attempts!
  • Opening Shout-Out:
    • One of the patches is a "Discovering Something That Doesn't Exist" patch, which Candace earns after discovering the unicorn-turtle from the theme song.
    • The "Who puts a picture frame on a window?" gag is a reference to the Mustache Vandalism moment in the theme.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Isabella tries to tell Candace that she doesn't need to become a member of the Fireside Girls to go to the concert, but Candace interrupts her, leading to her attempt to earn 50 patches in one day. It's not until the end that Candace sees Phineas and Ferb are also at the concert that Isabella reveals Fireside Girls are allowed to bring guests.
  • Punny Name: The founder of the Fireside Girls is named Eliza M. Feyersied.
  • Sewer Gator: One of the patches Candace must earn is the "Wrestling an Alligator in a Sewer Patch".
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Zig-Zagged. Candace completes the cupcake delivery but forgot to put the 50th marker before the time runs out, therefore she only managed to get 49 patches. However, since she broke the record for most patches earned in one day, Mrs. Feyersied gives her an additional special patch, completing the "50 patches in a day" requirement to become a Fireside Girl and allowing her to get the ticket. But then it turns out that the Fireside Girls can invite their friends to the concert (which Isabella did by inviting Phineas and Ferb), so Candace didn't even need to join the Fireside Girls to begin with.
  • Special Guest: Late TV and film veteran Cloris Leachman, who also voices Doofenshmirtz's mother, voices Eliza M. Feyersied.
  • Stand-In Portrait: Candace discovers what looks like a portrait of Eliza M. Feyersied, founder of the Fireside Girls, is actually Mrs. Feyersied herself.
  • That's Gotta Hurt: In The Stinger, when the episode finally shows who won the fight between Candace and the sewer alligator:
Phineas: That's gonna leave a mark.
    Ferb: Yes. On the alligator.
  • Transformation Ray: Doofenshmirtz's Metal-Destructinator works by transforming metal into broccoli.
  • Unfinished, Untested, Used Anyway: The O.W.C.A.'s teleportation device hasn't been approved for use on humans, so Perry is the first one to use it.
  • Unplugged Version: When Candace races to Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. to make her cupcake delivery, an acoustic guitar version of "Go, Candace, Go!" plays. Although the rhythm of the guitar makes it sound almost exactly like the intro to Simon & Garfunkel's "Here's to You, Mrs. Robinson".
  • Wrestler of Beasts: One of the patches Candance gets is for wrestling an alligator in a sewer.
