Go To

With the Robo-Legends having swallowed the bait, the Legends are in for a fight against their doppelgangers and Evil Gideon.

Tropes Featured in this Episode:

  • Are These Wires Important?: Zari resorts to this when she's unable to shut down Evil-Gideon properly.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Astra snaps at Gideon several times to stay in the manor when she volunteers to be helpful, because she is worried sick about her after seeing her nearly shot by Robo-Behrad. Astra feels responsible for her because she's the one who conjured Gideon in this form. After Gideon does manage to save the day, the two make up with a hug.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Behrad enters the Waverider, it initially seems like Robo-Spooner and Robo-Gary have recognized him by listening to the comms.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Gary of all people pushes Robo-Astra and Robo-Ava right out of the mansion into hell.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: Behrad and Astra finally have theirs.
  • Cat Fight: Between Zari and Robo-Zari.
  • Chekhov's Gag: The reminder that the Waverider has only one bathroom, which becomes important to the Legends' takeover.
  • Coming in Hot: After Zari disables Evil Gideon, the Waverider makes a crash landing.
  • Compensating for Something: When real Nate sees how ridiculously muscular his robot counterpart is, he claims robo-Nate is overcompensating. Gary immediately points out that, judging by the shape of Robo-Nate's pants, this is not the case.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Sadly, the Time Authority and all other time travelers are no match for the Robo-Legends whatsoever.
  • Dead Person Impersonation:
    • Behrad poses as his robot counterpart after robo-Behrad has been destroyed.
    • After Evil Gideon is already destroyed, the real Gideon poses as her through the comms, commanding Robo-Nate and Robo-Sara to shut down.
  • Dies Wide Open: When killed by the Robo-Legends, Thawne's eyes are open.
  • Fence Painting: Nate tricks his robot doppelganger into taking the burden of guarding the fixed point by calling it a privilege.
  • Giving Radio to the Romans: Gwyn's revised Operation Ruckus is to introduce various modern innovations to 1914 like a singing bass, a VR game, Star Wars facts, etc.
  • Guile Hero: All of the Legends display some impressive manipulation techniques.
    • Behrad convincingly poses as his robotic counterpart and even manages to make Robo-Astra and Robo-Ava drink one of his beverages, which causes them to run right through the Bathroom-Portal, where Gary takes care of them.
    • Spooner tricks Robo-Gary and Robo-Spooner into killing each other.
    • Gideon poses as Evil Gideon, making Robo-Nate and Robo-Sara shut down. And then Nate plays on Robo-Nate's ego, tricking him into taking up Thawne's spot as the Fixer instead of Sara.
  • Hidden Depths: Since Gwyn is a veteran soldier, Sara puts him in charge of putting together a plan to stop Evil Gideon. And it actually works for the most part.
  • Human Pincushion: Robo-Sara stabs Eobard Thawne to death.
  • Immediate Sequel: Naturally, the episode picks up right after the last one ended.
  • Impersonating the Evil Twin: First Behrad does this with regards to his robot doppelganger, and then it escalates from there.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • The Legends finally learn that Rogue Gideon created Robo copies of them.
    • Sara tells the team about her promise to Thawne.
  • Irony: Astra is stricken with worry after seeing Gideon nearly die in their first confrontation with the Robo Legends. It's Robo-Astra that ends up giving Gideon a fatal blow after they seemingly defeated them all.
  • It's All My Fault: Gwyn blames himself for thinking that disabling Evil Gideon will also automatically disable the Robo-Legends, which doesn't happen.
  • Literal Metaphor: Robo-Ava declaring "What the hell?" upon opening the Mansion's door and being greeted by hellfire, before Gary throws her and Robo-Astra into the fire. Gary even lampshades the apt wording.
  • Mirror Match: Zari fights Robo-Zari.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Gideon, after inadvertently motivating the Time Authority and all the other time travelers to take up arms against the Robo-Legends.
  • Mutual Kill: Robo-Gary is tricked into thinking Robo-Spooner is the real one and devours her. Robo-Spooner warned him beforehand not to or else she'll detonate the grenade she was holding, which blows Robo-Gary up.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: The Fixed Point patrons decide to help the Legends by attacking the Robo-Legends...and they all die horribly.
  • No One Gets Left Behind: When Sara plans on staying behind to stop the remaining Robo-Legends and carry on Thawne's mission as the Fixer, Spooner, Gwyn and Nate refuse to leave her behind.
  • No-Sell: Robo-Nate ignores Sara's punches, who hurts her own hand in the process.
  • Out of Focus: Due to getting injured at the beginning of the episode, Ava barely appears.
  • Overly Long Gag: The Wimp Fight between the two Zaris.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Despite being made of metal, the Robo-Legends are capable not only of eating but of suffering human digestive issues. Behrad successfully uses this to drive Robo-Astra and Robo-Ava into a trap.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Robo-Nate inadvertently starts talking with a Arnold Schwarzenegger-like accent after receiving a hit to the head. And after his voice returns to normal, he has a line that the Legends are cockroaches, and he's the exterminator/"ex-Terminator".
    • Among the aberrations the Legends create to draw out their robotic counterparts, the Legends make a graffiti saying "Darth Vader is Luke's father!".
  • So Proud of You: Astra to Gideon, after saving the day.
  • Spot the Impostor: Evil Gideon quickly recognizes Zari posing as her robotic counterpart after a brief exchange.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Sara takes time to mourn Thawne. Then again, this might be the most sympathetic version of the evil speedster post-Season 1 of The Flash.
  • Take Up My Sword: With his dying breath, Thawne leaves his time bracelet to Sara.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: Sara at first attempts to reason with Robo-Sara and Robo-Nate, to no avail.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Spooner manages to convince Robo-Gary into thinking that Robo-Spooner is the real deal. This causes him to eat her, despite her telling him that she has a grenade. Consequently, he explodes right after devouring her.
  • Torso with a View: Robo-Nate punches a hole right through the chest of the alien time traveler.
  • Trojan Horse: After killing Robo-Behrad, the Legends send the real Behrad to the Waverider, with the key to their pocket dimension. They then start replacing the Robo-Legends one by one.
  • Wham Shot: The day is seemingly saved, Gideon runs to the mansion to tell Ava and Gary the wonderful news...and then she is suddenly stabbed In the Back by a Not Quite Dead Robo-Astra.
  • Wimp Fight: As mentioned above, Zari vs. Robo-Zari, to ludicrous results. What started as single hits devolves into an air-slapping, hair-pulling extravaganza complete with strangulation attempts on both sides as dramatic music plays on. Interestingly, the ridiculousness is anchored by Gary and Astra's serious attempts to intervene; and it's unclear if Robo-Zari really is as lacking in combat skills as she appears, or if she was simply matching Zari's technique to avoid giving herself away.
