Season 4

     Chapter 1: More than Human
Annabelle and Kyoko of the Wyrd Sisters meet Delilah, leader of the LA Thin-Bloods. Trouble happens when Annabelle's sire, Carver arrives for a meeting, as well as Aurora, Scourge of the Camarilla.

  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: Nelli G becomes Baron of Hollywood.
  • Bar Fight: Carver starts one in the night club to give him a way of sneaking out.
  • Birds of a Feather: Delilah, Kyoko, and Annabelle quickly became huge friends.
  • Brutally Honest: Carver takes this tactic with his arguments, which works well for him.
  • Continuity Nod: Aurora alludes to the fact the Sabbat originally were Anarchs themselves before they became the blood soaked sect they were.
  • Dark Secret: Thin Bloods can become "normal" vampires via diablerie. Carver argues this is something they should consider if they want power.
  • Dramatic Irony: Delilah doesn't know that Annabelle's group is the one that killed her brother and is seeking information from her on it.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: All three of the Kindred women make it clear how much they dislike Carver despite being on the same side. He takes it in stride.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Carver freely admits to being one of these.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Annabelle is frustrated that everything Carver says is correct.
  • Hidden Depths: Carver is actually a Noddist scholar and has a copy of the Book of Nod on him.
  • Knight of Cerebus: When Aurora arrives looking for information on her brother and Carver.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Delilah can endure the sun. Kyoko and Annabelle are stunned by this.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • Aurora explains that she's become a genuine believer in the Camarilla because of this. The existence of planes, tanks, and other modern technology means she thinks vampires need to stay under the radar.
    • Carver appeals to Delilah on this basis, arguing that she should engage in it versus wide-eyed idealism.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: How Annabelle feels about working with Carver.
  • Vampires Own Nightclubs: Delilah owns a slightly shabbier one than Victor's, though it has a huge aquarium.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Aurora enjoys a dance at the club and engages in friendly banter with Annabelle despite how terrified the latter is of her.
  • Wham Line: Isaac Abrams give one.
    "I have to go."

     Chapter 2: Darkness Divide
Jasper, Eva, Kyoko and Greg explore the Labyrinth.

  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Kyoko acts like this to Eva and Jasper.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: Ib dragoons Gregory into helping her on a stakeout.
  • Artifact of Doom: The Black Mirror that took six months for Hester to fix instead of a couple of days.
  • Comically Serious: Jasper and Eva play this role to Kyoko.
  • Continuity Nod: Strauss is capable of making Gargoyles. He's made one to replace the one killed/defected in Bloodlines.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The Gargoyle kicks the coterie's ass and forces them into retreat.
  • The Dragon: Strauss has left a gargoyle to guard the Labyrinth and keep Anarchs out of it.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: How Gregory feels traveling through the magic mirror. The others are less effected, being dead.
  • GenreShift: This is an old fashioned D&D-esque Dungeon crawl with traps, monsters, and weird magic.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The group thinks Jasper was trying to pull one of these. He was actually trying to lead the Gargoyle away from his haven.
  • Moment Killer: Kyoko shows up and utterly ruins Jasper and Eva's date.
  • Not Quite the Right Thing:
    • Jasper lets Eva feed on him and becomes murderously hungry as a result.
    • Kyoko and Gregory try to help Eva, only to get electrocuted in the process.
  • Occam's Razor: Gregory asks why they don't just drive to the Labyrinth.
  • Out Of Context Problem: A gargoyle shows up in the middle of the Labyrinth.
  • Team Mom: Hester makes sure that Kyoko will be back two hours before sunrise. Jasper is genuinely confused by this infantalizing of her.
"She's not your mom is she? You are an adult, right?"
  • Technology Marches On: In-universe. Jasper and Eva aren't terribly old vampires but are utterly confused at the idea of magazines being outdated.
  • Your Costume Needs Work: A employee of Hester's shop comments on Eva and Jasper's outfits for "Gorefest."

Chapter 3: Voice of the Dead

    • Annabelle confesses she's arranged a trap for Carver and Aurora.
    • Jasper finds out Chloe is alive and X's ghoul from Annabelle but not that she's Archangel.
    • Gary Golden finds out about the sleeping Nosferatu in the Labyrinth.
  • Running Gag: Victor is attempting to set up a super-powerful lighting system as a trap against Aurora.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: Victor argues that this is what would have happened if Eva and Jasper had fought Strauss.
  • Snark-to-Snark Combat: Victor and Velvet engage in some of these over whether she's an enemy.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Not quite reaching the level of Face–Heel Turn, Velvet Velour has begun hanging around Cammies.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Chloe turns out to have been very selective in her presentation of facts to Annabelle about her ghouldom.

  • Dramatic Irony: The vamily trusts Jeanette but doesn't trust Therese.

  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: Annabelle, of all people, indicates that hunting the Thin Bloods is likely to lead to this.
  • Slobs Versus Snobs: Garrick takes time to take several digs at Temple's club. Baron Temple gives as good as he got.
  • Snark-to-Snark Combat: Garrick and Baron Temple have a conversation barely on the side of civil.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: Victor gets a copy of the Book of Nod from Fiorenza.

  • Bastard Bastard: Suzanne says that Eva is dangerous because she was Embraced without permission, is a drug addict, and a danger to all of them.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Nelli G is rude and sarcastic to Vannevar, which he only barely manages to keep from frenzying over. This despite the fact he's about two hundred years older than her.
  • The Caligula: Vannevar is at his absolute worst here. Which makes it all the more shocking when he's cured of his insanity by Katya.
  • Dating Catwoman: It turns out Nelli G and Suzanne have been seeing each other socially behind their respective factions' back.

  • Fantastic Racism: Even the Caitiff of Los Angeles look down on the Duskborn.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Jasper gives Annabelle one of these after pointing out she hasn't suffered nearly as much as she thinks versus other Kindred. The fact it's headed by pretty much the only occasion in which Alex Ward/Jasper raises his voice - outright screaming that Annabelle had alleviated part of her "suffering" by making Mark a ghoulnote  - makes it quite a powerful blow in the otherwise relative quiet that is the average LA By Night episode.
Jasper: Yeah, YOU MADE HIM A FUCKING GHOUL!! That was your goddamned decision! You didn't make any fucking decisions except that one. Every decision that's been put in front of you has been made for you.
  • Pet the Dog: It's revealed Victor and Jasper helped a bunch of human trafficking victims escape from a shipping container. Victor even gave them a free ride at Griffith college.

  • I'm a Humanitarian: X decides that since Nelli G and Jasper are both diablerists, it's not so bad.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: As insufferable as she is, Fiona is right that it has never occurred to Victor that Nelli might have issues with him riding around in her dead abuser's limo.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Nines Rodriguez proves to be one of these, giving Victor a lot of reasonable advice.
  • Running Gag: Jasper constantly getting mistaken for a horror magazine model continues here.
  • Sanity Slippage: X, despite being Malkavian, suffers a lot of this.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Nines gives a gentle one to Victor, saying that all of his successes and relatively small losses have given him an unearned sense of invulnerability.
    • Fiona gives one to Nelli G over the fact that she's still following a male vampire's lead (Victor in this case).
  • Shipper on Deck: Hester supports Jasper and Eva.
  • Vampires Own Nightclubs: Nines owns a dive bar that exists despite the rest of the neighborhood being gentrified.
  • Vision Quest: X undergoes one of these that he brings Jasper along with.
