Recap / I Carly S 05 Ep 11 I Lost My Head In Vegas

Go To

iLost My Head in Vegas is the 11th episode in the 5th season of iCarly.

When Sam's mother is arrested in Vegas, Sam recruits the iCarlys to help bail her out, but the bail fee is expensive, so they must sell things in a pawn shop if they wish to free her.

Tropes:

  • Big "NO!": Carly and Sam scream one in unison when one of the cashiers eats their potato chip shaped like Texas.
  • Chekhov's Gun: A bottle of juice that Michelle Obama drank from and signed in iMeet the First Lady is traded at the pawn shop, which initially gives the iCarlys enough money to bail Sam's mother out.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: Gibby sells his pants to a pawn shop worker despite the fact they already had enough money to bail out Sam's mom, leaving him in his clover-printed boxers for a good chunk of the episode.
  • Hope Spot: The iCarlys initially get enough money to bail Sam's mother out, but then Gibby gets conned by spending it all on a "moon rock" that actually came from the Pawn Shop driveway.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When Sam tells Spencer to drive like a man, Spencer replies that he already is. He then puts chapstick on and asks the others if he should have his eyebrows waxed.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Sam had every right to be mad that Gibby lost the bail money through such an easy con.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: When Gibby says that he has been showering at 45 mph, Freddie says, "Don’t you mean 45 miles per 'shower?'" Carly and Sam cringe and mutter in disapproval over what he just said.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Gibby loses the initial money the iCarlys raised in a "moon rock" scam, initially backing them into a corner.
  • No Ending: The episode ends with the iCarlys back in the RV, but Spencer is showering, so it's likely they failed to make it in time to post Pam's bail before midnight.
  • Noodle Incident: Gibby gives us three in one scene:
    • His uncle threw a pair of jeans at him (and we're never told why) and he decided to keep them.
    • He has "accidents" involving his pants often enough that Sam (when he shows up pants-less) asks him if it happened again.
    • He is not allowed to take pictures without his pants anymore. Though that could be a Call-Back to the Jimmy Fallon incident in "i Shock America"...
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Played for Laughs when the incident that got Pam arrested is explained:
Sam: She went to a Celine Dion concert...
Carly: That doesn't sound like something your mom would do.
Same: ...and she thought Celine was lip syncing, so my mom ran on stage and yanked out her hair extensions.
      Carly
': That sounds like something your mom would do.
    • Played for Drama with Sam, who (despite having a rocky relationship with her mother) is genuinely concerned about Pam and does everything she can to bail her out, even going to Vegas and pawning off some of iCarly's prized possessions (namely the Texas potato chip and the bottle of the First Lady's DNA).
  • A Rare Sentence: "Wanna drink some of the First Lady's DNA?"
  • Special Guest: Pawn Stars.
  • Viva Las Vegas!: The iCarlys go to Las Vegas and attempt to bail Sam's mom out of jail.
  • Wham Episode: Gibby no longer has his head replica.
  • When the Clock Strikes Twelve: Pam has to be bailed out before midnight, or she'll be kept in jail until Monday.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Carly's potato chip shaped like Texas is immediately devoured, and Gibby ends up trading away all the money from Michelle Obama's bottle for a fake moon rock. Also, Freddie was about to get $3000 for a vintage computer system, but it shorts out and breaks down, and he only gets $4.
