Recap / Family Guy S 17 E 11 Trump Guy

Go To

In this Sequel Episode to "Hefty Shades of Gray", The Griffins return to Washington, DC where Peter becomes the press secretary for President Donald Trump.

Examples:

  • Anvilicious: invoked Chris cuts in during the climactic fight to explain that he wrote the scene where both sides of Congress alternate between cheering when Peter punches Trump and vice versa, complaining that America is needlessly divided.
  • Attempted Rape: Trump comes dangerously close to forcing himself on Meg, but the family arrive just in time to see it and witness Trump’s true colors.
  • Berserk Button: Trump, like his real-life counterpart, frequently brags about his apparent billions, even though he has been bankrupted multiple times and has repeatedly refused to release his tax records. Peter provokes their climactic fight by telling Trump to his face that he’s actually cash poor.
  • Cassandra Truth: When Meg initially tells her family how Trump touched her inappropriately, Peter and Lois refuse to believe her, with the latter outright calling her a liar. After they walk in on Trump trying to assault her a second time, Peter is outraged and Lois hugs Meg while apologizing for not believing her to begin with.
  • The Cameo: As Peter and Trump duke it out in a chicken fight, Ernie the Giant Chicken himself appears at the Smithsonian, bonding with his son and blissfully unaware of the fight behind them.
  • Damsel in Distress: Meg becomes this when Trump lusts after her.
  • Dirty Old Man: Trump sexually assaults Meg, who is 18 years old.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Chris, out of all the people, questions why America is "so damn divided."
  • Ephebophile: Trump reveals himself to be one as he touches Meg's vagital area and tries to have his way with her when behind closed doors.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Even though the Griffins have become increasingly cruel to Meg over the years, often to the point of forgetting her existence, they are all furious when they see Trump assaulting her.
  • Gonk: Donald Trump is depicted as a fat, ugly old man who makes Peter's obesity look as cute as Justin Bieber in comparison.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: After Trump calls Peter on trying to claim the moral high ground over him despite doing some pretty terrible things himself, Peter points out that, as President of the United States, Trump is obligated to set a good example to the American people, while nobody should be taking moral guidance from a cartoon character like himself.
  • Incest Subtext: Before introducing Meg to him, Trump’s daughter Ivanka brags that the president is “kind of like [her] boyfriend”, an obvious reference to the infamous real-life interview when Trump claimed he would date Ivanka if she were not his daughter.
  • I Take Offense to That Last One: Trump weathers Peter’s tirade against him until he’s called out for hiding his finances and accused of being broke. That finally provokes him into a fight.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: When Peter calls Trump out on his terrible behavior, Trump responds by pointing out that Peter's in no position to judge him due to his mistreatment of his family and how he gets himself in trouble with the law. Peter is clearly shaken by this and makes a (failed) effort to be a better person.
  • Lecherous Licking: Trump does this to Meg when attempting to rape her.
  • The Loins Sleep Tonight: Peter's appearance on CNN amounts to him admitting he has performance issues.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: When the family sees Trump trying to have his way with Meg, they are appalled as they should be.
  • Self-Deprecation: When Peter calls out Trump's behavior, Trump retorts that Family Guy is itself equally responsible for normalizing offensive jokes about various marginalized groups.
  • Shout-Out: When trying to force himself on Meg, Trump becomes Jabba the Hutt. Even his Vice-President cackles like Salacious Crumb.
  • Take That!: Where, oh where do we begin? There's the Trump Administration, politics as a whole, Bob's Burgers, and even Family Guy itself.
  • Very Special Episode: The episode was advertised as an episode targeted at the Trump administration. When it was aired, it was more about Trump's many, many wrongdoings and why Seth MacFarlane believes he's a bad president.
