Jack: I'm just a visitor, but I'm guessing a body in a phone box is not an everyday London occurrence!

After meeting both Chief Ripley and her Administrative Assistant Ingrid Bjorn, Ingrid informs you about a recent wave of violence and terrorism all over Europe, so they send you to Westminster in London, England, so you can meet up with your new partner Jack Archer. There, you find the body of none other than Prince Albert, heir to the throne, dead on a phone booth.

Tropes:

  • Absurd Phobia: Jack is afraid of pigeons, hence why he panics when you pick up one as a clue.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: After you return to the theater to look for Brother Klaus, this happens.
Jack: Hello? Is there anyone there?! Honestly, <Player's Name>, I don't think there's anyone here, Dupont must've-
Brother Klaus: Who dares disturb me?!
Jack: Oh my God! <Player's Name>, save me!
  • "Begone" Bribe: In the theater, Rupert gives you money to go watch a show and leave him alone.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Dupont comes to your rescue when Rupert attempts to arrest you, citing a law that claims international police officers are allowed until sunset to finish their work should they be arrested, which gives you enough time to arrest the killer.
    • After solving the murder, Rupert tries to have you arrested anyway, only for Queen Mary to step in and stop him for good.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Brother Klaus berates you for interrupting his dinner of moldy crackers and cold tea.
  • Blackmail: Enid was blackmailed by an unknown entity to kill Prince Albert or else both of them plus her family would die.
  • Booby Trap: Prince Albert was killed with a poisoned phone speaker that was triggered after he picked up the phone inside of the booth.
  • The Bore: According to Jack, Armand Dupont, The Bureau's historian, could put him to sleep in a heavy metal concert.
  • British Stuffiness: Archibald is so unemotional that his British Stiff Upper Lip dictates that he doesn't fuss over something as trivial as murder, unlike Americans.
  • Brits Love Tea: Lampshaded when Jack is told that one of the killer's attributes is that they drink tea.
Jack: Isn't that what EVERYONE in Britain drinks all the time?!
  • Clashing Cousins: Count Rupert recalls how Prince Albert poured hot tea over his head, trained his pony to rear up an drop him, and made all the servants call him Poo-pert when they were younger.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Brother Klaus is nothing less than insane, claiming that he has seen the fall of mankind, the destruction of souls, the Antichrist, etc. Jack says they'll talk to him when he's less crazy.
  • Clueless Mystery: Like in the first case of Grimsborough and all the mobile exclusive tutorial cases, while the player is given the physical evidence to solve the murder in "The Murder of Amanda Love", it's never explained why ambassador Douglas Patterson killed Amanda Love.
  • Cool Old Lady: Queen Mary is a little stern and bossy, but she's also amicable and stops her grandson for arresting you after you solve Albert's murder.
  • Curse Cut Short: Jack calls the carrier pigeon a "son-of-a-" before getting interrupted by the player.
  • Debut Queue: In the mobile-exclusive "The Murder of Amanda Love" tutorial, only Ingrid, Jack, and Angela are introduced, with the rest of the team properly appearing in the case itself.
  • Explosive Results: Lars is introduced after his lithium bicarbonate experiment blows up on his face.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing:
    • Jack says how funny it would be if the Queen of England turned out to be a suspect seconds before her royal guard tells you she wishes to speak with you, putting her on the suspect list.
    • Later, Jack says they should tread carefully with royalty since Count Rupert and The Queen are suspects since there's no telling what they might do. Cue Rupert storming the headquarters and ordering his guards to arrest you.
  • Foreshadowing: When you interrogate Enid for the first time, she seems to be taking Prince Albert's death the hardest despite only being a royal maid, crying rivers and such. You later learn they were in a Secret Relationship.
  • Gratuitous French: Dupont tends to throw French words and phrases on his normal speech.
  • Humble Hero: Angela claims that a Nobel Prize isn't that much of a big deal after Jack praises her for it.
  • Job Song: During his first analysis, Lars appears singing one of his own metal band songs.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Prince Albert wanted to stop being a prince, something he wrote on his diary and led to The Queen reading it.
  • Loony Laws: Dupont manages to save you from (now a Prince) Rupert and his guards by citing a law, noting that Britain has hundreds of fascinating ancient laws such as only being allowed to throw paper airplanes on weekends, or giving pregnant women the right to pee in your hat.
  • The Man Behind the Man: An unknown organization (which Brother Klaus belongs to) blackmailed Enid into murdering Albert of else she and her family would be killed too, writing the instructions in the torn page of an ancient manuscript that you travel to France to look for.
  • Mandatory Unretirement: Judge Adaku says the Bureau has dragged him out of his retirement in the Bahamas to run the court again.
  • Morally Bankrupt Banker: Archibald Gilchrist, the CEO of the European bank, had planned to demolish a children's hospital to make way for another branch of his banking company and some shopping malls, which led to Prince Albert speaking against him.
  • Off with His Head!: Subverted: Judge Adaku tells Enid that the penalty for killing a member of the royal family is beheading, but since they're on an international law she'll get 10 years of prison instead.
  • Pesky Pigeons: One of the clues you collect is a carrier pigeon with a message stuffed on its back, with Jack calling it a "disease-ridden, mangy old pigeon."
  • Race Against the Clock: Rupert only gives you until sunset to arrest Prince Albert's killer or else he'll have you thrown in the dungeons.
  • Rapid-Fire Interrupting: Enid during her introduction.
Jack: You're not in trouble, Miss Grimshaw. We wanted to ask you about Prince Albert's murder. It's just-
Enid: Can I get you some tea? I usually have a fresh pot on around now.
    Jack: Miss Grimshaw. We've gotta-
Enid: Perhaps some cake. Maybe I could find some cake-
  • Royal Brat: Count Rupert becomes this after he acquires the title of Prince, attempting to arrest you just because Jack called him out of his immaturity.
  • Royal "We": Queen Mary speaks like this, even when addressing her own family.
  • Secret Relationship: Prince Albert and Enid Grimshaw, one of the royal maids, were secretly dating.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Slashed Throat: Amanda Love, the victim of the mobile-exclusive tutorial case, is killed this way.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Prince Rupert begins to follow you during the last portion of the investigation, intending to arrest you as soon as the sun sets.
Jack: For a Prince, you seem to be spending a lot of time following us. Haven't you got crowds to wave at or a servant to beat?!
  • Stiff Upper Lip: When Jack remarks how Archibald doesn't look that upset about Prince Albert's death, he attributes it to his British stiff upper lip.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Lars claims he can't help you with analyzing a substance since his babysitter just called to tell him one of his daughters just tried to hot-wire his motorbike.
  • United Europe: During the Additional Investigation, you learn about a Referendum that will be taking place in a few weeks, which deals with uniting all of Europe under one government. Archibald supports it and he even has paid Prince Rupert a million euros so he does too.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Most of your suspects claim that everyone adored and respected Prince Albert, which makes it harder to find anyone who would've wanted him dead.
  • You Have No Idea Who You're Dealing With: When stopping Archibald for interrogation, he grumpily asks if you don't know who he is.
    Jack: The Monopoly guy?
