Go To

Fabian tasks the Agency to retrieve an item from a bank vault before opening, offering to return control of the company over to them as well as six months' worth of budget if they succeed.

Tropes

  • Brick Joke: Ray makes up a fake name for Archer on the spot when trying to cover for him when he is posted by a real security guard. However, he lacks creativity and just calls him Mr. Bank. Archer pokes fun at this. Later it is revealed that the bank's president is actually named Mr. Bank.
  • The Bus Came Back: Cheryl returns after storming off in Laws of Attraction. And she's brought explosives; lots of explosives.
  • The Chessmaster: Fabian has been using the team this whole time for his own agenda, got them to destabilize a country via blackmail and, to top it all off, has made it look like they've been behind everything he's been doing for the last six months.
  • Disability Immunity: Archer's tinnitus renders the sonic attack that Krieger accidentally sets off ineffective, while everyone else writhes in pain.
Archer: Is it really that bad? I still just mostly hear my ears ringing. Thanks tinnitus!
  • Dissimile: Fabian tells the Agency about a hypothetical adorable baby monkey in the safety deposit box they are supposed to be stealing from the bank by the next day. They all know that's not true, but Cyril requested him to do so to handwave the concept of bank robbing.
  • Everyone Has Standards: The elderly security guard may be riddled with conspiracy theories, but she puts up with her job because she would be rendered homeless without it.
  • Exact Words: Fabian keeps his word in returning ownership of the Agency to the gang. They learn in the end that includes everything they have done since he never absorbed it to the IIA at all.
  • Godzilla Threshold: With everyone trapped in one way or another, Archer and Pam finally call Cheryl and have her come help them. Subverted as Pam had left Cheryl plenty of messages before.
  • Ironic Echo: Ray insists that the episode's mission will be "easy peasy". As Archer expects, it's not going to be "easy" or "peasy".
  • Lady of War: Cheryl possesses an elegant air about her as she unflinchingly sets off the explosives she somehow preemptively placed, even flashing her fur coat to brandish a detonator before blasting away the approaching SWAT team.
  • Mugged for Disguise: Ray knocks out a security guard and takes his uniform.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The file the Agency gives to Fabian was apparently used to blackmail a world leader, forcing her to destabilize her country. What's more it turns out the contract to return control of the Agency was back dated six months, suggesting everything Fabian had them doing wasn't exactly for the greater good.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: The bank manager who lets Cheryl in isn't fooled by her wealthy socialite disguise. However, she actually is a wealthy socialite, and he just thinks she is crazy, barely putting up with her because she is rich.
    • The security guard Ray befriended wasn't fooled by his and Archer's attempts to pretend to be bank employees. However, she goes along with it anyway for her own amusement.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Cheryl says one as she tosses her veil and poses before brandishing her detonator and blasting away the SWAT team.
    "And now...we begin!"
  • Read the Fine Print: At the end of the episode Cyril discovers the paperwork returning control of the Agency back to them was back dated six months, meaning they are solely accountable for all the missions they did for the IIA and Fabian, at least on paper. It is unclear if the six months of budget Fabian promised them has expired or if they still have funding.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Pam and Alessia become primary polyamorous partners
  • The Scapegoat: The contract Fabian gave them that returned control of the Agency back to them was back dated six months ago, likely to pin the blame for everything they have done on the Agency and keep IIA's hands clean.
  • Self-Serving Memory: Cheryl is upset that no one tried to call her after she was humiliatingly fired as boss of the Agency. However, she was never the boss, she quit in protest, and Pam left her a bunch of messages.
  • Simple Solution Won't Work: When Cyril is unable to unlock the internal container for the safety deposit box Lana simply yells at him to take the container with them. However, it is welded in place, rendering him unable to do so.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: When the others are quick to blame Fabian for the SWAT team showing up, Archer goes along with it, not wanting to admit he tripped the under the desk alarm while looking for alcohol and/or the override passwords.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Cheryl acquired skills in the use of explosives off screen, becoming a much more competent spy, as appose to simply setting everything on fire. She even set explosives in advance to cover their escape somehow. She is still crazy though, yet Archer is quite alarmed by Cheryl's newfound skills. "Who are you?"
  • Villainous Rescue: Alessia steals a getaway vehicle and waits for them outside the bank because she had been sleeping with Pam and it was getting serious.
  • Villain Respect: If his words are to be believed, Fabian has come to respect the members of the Agency. However, the feeling is not mutual as Archer threw a pastry at him before they left. Of course, even honoring his word turns out to be a double cross.
