  • Ask Her Lustrousness, Yellow Diamond: Steven pulls these in order to try and get Yellow to play video games with him.
  • Calvin & Hobbes: The Series references this:
"My client has eyes. [...] Yes, eyes. The innocent eyes of a puppy."
  • The Dashverse: Rarity does this in Hot Heads, Cold Hearts, and Nerves of Steel to convince Shining Armor to let her make modifications to his uniform. He caves immediately.
    • Rainbow Dash apparently did this to him all the time when she was a filly.
  • Discussed in dC/dt≠0, as Flurry doesn't understand why Twilight doesn't use them, after all, they always work for her, and Momma uses them on Daddy! Errant also makes use of them, with the advantages of Voluntary Shapeshifting.
  • Death is forced to take a vacation: Pinkie is very good at these, even getting Fall Harvest to agree to visit Ponyville, which he was hoping to avoid, with them.
  • Sherlock Holmes in the Deliver Us from Evil Series, to the point where Mrs. Hudson suspects that neither his mother nor any other susceptible female with whom he'd come in contact had ever been able to resist those big gray eyes.
  • Diamond's pet kitty in the Diamond and Dazzle MLP fancomic learned this from the time he spent as a puppy. Has used them on Diamond and Spike to get cake and candy, respectively.
  • In Echoes of Yesterday, Taylor doesn't want to go shopping for clothes, but Kara literally puppy-stares her into a trip to the local mall.
"Oh come on Taylor, please?" I kid you not, this girl who was at least three years older than me, clasped her hands together and gave me the puppy dog eyes, quivering lip included.
I stared at her, wide eyed, "You… you're being serious right now?"
    No response.
I folded my arms, "It'll take more than puppy eyes to change my mind Kara."
    Again, no response.
I made an effort to avoid her stare, "I said no, not gonna happen!"
    More silence.
I made one daring look over my shoulder, and threw my hands up in surrender, "Gah! Fine! Just stop with the look, you're embarrassing both of us!"
  • Erin in For Good - she's the only main character to have brown eyes, and she uses them to great effect with her brother and her not-boyfriend.
  • In the Animaniacs fanfic Family, it's revealed that Wakko had taught Dot this trick and she uses it to her advantage. Wakko uses this once on Yakko, but he doesn’t fall for it and instead asks him if he has gas.
  • Five Nights At Freddy's: Lost Souls: Chica, Bonnie and Foxy do this to Freddy when he attempts to tell Cody and Bridget they can't come back. Much to everyone's joy, it works.
  • In the The Loud House fanfic Gal Pals, in the 20th chapter, when Lincoln has to visit Dr. Lopez for his problems, but refuses to do so because he's shy, Dana tries this on him, coupled with Baby Talk, to convince him to go. He still refuses, leading all of the girls to do it. And when Lincoln refuses again, Haiku plays Moonlight Sonata. This combination finally makes Lincoln give up to the gals and accept to go, much to their joy.
  • From the Hetalia: Axis Powers fanfic Gankona, Unnachgiebig, Unità: Italy used these on Germany and Japan as he was trying to convince them to not murder Austria for the hundreds of years of abuse he had dished out on Italy.
  • The Great Alicorn Hunt: Chapter 5 gives us a well-executed example.
'''Footnote 1:''' The dour moon princess had complained that "it looked like some ancient pagan fertility ritual." Till both Rarity and Fluttershy had given her a double-barreled dose of the Sad Puppy Dog Eyes. The flowers stayed.
  • Hero Chat:: Marinette describes Manon having Kitty Eyes, which lets her talk the former into making more Akuma dolls and are said to be impossible to resist. Chloé finds that hard to believe as she built a resistance to Adrien's kitty eyes. Nino and Luka both argue that Adrien's kitty eyes are hard to resist.
Danger Noodle: Having seen Adrien's "kitten eyes" yeah no.
Hero In A Half-Shell: It's so sad and adorable you just want to hug him!
  • HERZ: In chapter 4, Asuka didn't want Akiko to keep a stuffed toy. So Akiko used the puppy dog look on her father, and Shinji used it on Asuka. She relented.
Shinji found himself caught between the two most important females in his life. His gaze darted to and from his wife and daughter. He settled on playing the sad puppy dog to Asuka. Faced with two pleading looks, Asuka relented.
  • in If Wishes Were Ponies, ponies are able to weaponize this trope and use it to maximum effect.
If there ever was a cue for the diabetes-inducing Cuteness of Doom look that the fillies had perfected, Harry thought that was it. The three fillies turned to their respective elders with their moist, wide-eyed faces, trembling lower lips, hopefully canted ears, with one hoof ever-so-slightly-lifted as if about to reach out, begging. Even that cold-hearted monster King Sombra would have caved to their cuteness.
    • Later, in Chapter 42 by Twilight. Castor muses on the trope's effectiveness.
And, right there, Castor realized the human race was doomed. Only the most heartless, vicious criminals would be able to resist those puppy-dog eyes and posture. Humanity’s only hope was that the ponies never realized their hidden power.
  • In Infinity Train: Knight of the Orange Lily, Specter's Split Personality Easter (just roll with it) somehow manages to pull this off when the White Gestalt is in the Shock Street Car to convince them to enter something called "Shockro's House of Shocks".
Gladion: How does a lightning maniac have convincing puppy dog eyes?
    • In the Desert Racetrack Car, London tells Tokio to use his cuteness in order to form a distraction. Tokio begrudgingly agrees and performs a pair of these on Hog Roader to the point the burly warthog racer can't help but just comment how cute Tokio looks.
  • In the J-WITCH Series, Hay Lin and Jade team up to give these to Uncle in order to convince him to come on the group's cruise trip.
  • In Kitty Noire and Vedalia, Rose has a convincing kitty pout that becomes more potent after she gets the Cat Miraculous, which works especially well on her best friend and eventual girlfriend Juleka. It also lets Rose talk Plagg into wearing a bow... that and her dad owns a cheese shop.
  • Miyoko in Kyon: Big Damn Hero when she asks Kyon to go see a movie together.
  • In Lovehammer, puppy eyes are used to great effect by Hotaru, especially on Cain.
  • In My Huntsman Academia, Pyrrha, Weiss, and Nora resort to this to get Izuku to cave in to visiting a puppy (which they named Lulu) he sent to the shelter after taking care of her for a night in their dorm room. Izuku's own eyes are also described as "big and squishy" by Nora and even Glynda finds herself disarmed when he accidentally uses them on her.
  • In Lost Latte Latte gives Kabaton to convince him to share his pancakes with her, he doesn't fall for it and throws a fork at her, telling her to leave him alone.
  • Naru-Hina Chronicles:
    • Yuko from Anko's Angels has used those eyes a few times:
      • She uses these, along with some guilt tripping, to convince Sakura to become friends with her. This causes Miho to comment "I can't believe she suckered her with the look.", which is then followed by Kei saying that's how Yuko convinced Miho to let the Genki Girl feel her up.
      • She makes this kind of eyes when Tayuya calls her a whore, all while saying "I'm not a whore, I just have a playful demeanour."
    • In Chapter 136, Tenten makes this kind of eyes when she tries to make Neji drop the subject of her bachelorette party.

  • RainbowDoubleDash's Lunaverse: Dinky Doo has an especially powerful and nigh-unresistable version of these. In one non-canon story, they even work on an insane Celestia.
  • The Red Dragon's Saber: Asia uses this technique to persuade Rias to let her stay with Issei despite being human and a member of the Church. Akeno makes fun of Rias for caving in.
  • Harry and Archie in The Rigel Black Chronicles have thoroughly practised The Look, designed to evoke the instinctive reaction to babies and kittens, and Harry makes use of it several times at Hogwarts to great effect — even if the target is forewarned. She later gets some advice from the Lady of the Rogue on some more mature and sultry expressions to use as she develops.
  • RWBY: Epic of Remnant: Ruby Rose does this look when Weiss Schnee is yelling at her for blowing up her luggage. Shirou points it out, then Weiss relents when she sees Ruby's face.
  • In this Sailor Moon fanart, Chibi-Chibi pulls these on Sailor Uranus so that she could steal cookies (again).
  • The Settlers: Rise of an Empire: A favourite trick of Sophie, Marcus' younger sister. She calls it her "cutesy face". It doesn't work on Sabatt.
  • Splint: In Chapter 42, Rukhash tries this trick to convince the reluctant Hedon to go hunting with her early in the morning. The Ranger is creeped out by the orcess' "please face", but agrees to come along anyway.
  • In this Steven Universe fanart, Yellow Pearl does this in order to get Yellow Diamond to give her a raise.
    Yellow Diamond: (Stupid, adorable Pearl...)
  • From the Tamers Forever Series, we have Takato's secret weapon; the U.P.D.E. "Ultimate Puppy Dog Eyes. TM (Now with more glimmering!)
  • In the sequel to the The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess fic Til the Sun Grows Cold and the Stars Grow Old, Rusl notes that "Shad's puppy-dog pout" was practically legendary.
  • Tough Love: As she's being forced to leave the house, Bella gives her father a look that reminds him of a beagle he'd owned once — "sad, soulful eyes turned toward Heaven and a tragic expression that said he was making her life impossibly hard, but that she forgave him anyway."
  • Turnabout Storm:
    • Pinkie Pie after Phoenix Wright tells her that their investigation does not involve finding oatmeal, much to her disappointment.
    • Apple Bloom uses them when begging Twilight to let her be her assistant in her investigation.
  • In The Witch of the Everfree, Applejack pulls them on Sunset when she's on the verge of refusing to help find the Great White Wolf.
    • Rarity pulls them too, trying to draw a story out of Sunset after she offhandedly mentions having met a griffon ambassador.
  • In X-Men: The Early Years, Cyclops teaches Jean Grey the "puppy eyes" pleading technique, and she uses it on Beast right away:
Scott Summers: It's a weapon that women have been using against men since the beginning of time. Get all teary eyed on him and in about two minutes Hank McCoy will be eating out of your hand. He'll do anything you ask him to do. It works on just about every man on the planet, Red.
