Lighthearted discussions at ungodly hours.

Sleep Deprived, or Sleep Deprived Podcast, is a podcast that delves into various subjects in the middle of the night. The podcast's first episode was released on July 22, 2017 on jschlatt's original YouTube channel. This would be the case for the next 4 episodes until Episode 6 which was uploaded to the newly created Sleep Deprived YouTube channel a little over a year later on August 10, 2018. The podcast can also be listened to on Spotify here.

The original members of the podcast were jschlatt and mikasacus, but the duo would quickly expand into a small group with the additions of Aztrosist in Episode 3 and Apandah in the following episode. They, along with any Special Guests that happen to be present, would have discussions on a variety of topics.

Along with their typical podcast videos, Sleep Deprived has posted videos where they play various games and owns their own Minecraft SMP server, SDMP.

    Games played by Sleep Deprived:

Sleep Deprived contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • When Mika claims to not have a script for Episode 8, he proposes to read off his credit card information instead. He reads the first numbers as 711 before transitioning into an advertisement about 7-Eleven being available on JetBlue planes.
    • Despite the title and thumbnail of Episode 48 making Jack Manifold's presence as a Special Guest clear, he's referred to as HasanAbi at the start of the episode and is only revealed as Jack two minutes in.
  • Beat: In Episode 3, Jschlatt says he intentionally adds these when editing the episodes to make the already awkward silence even more awkward.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Among other myriad things, Mika believes he can somehow fit an entire tennis court into a standard civilian airplane.
  • Cliffhanger: In Episode 16, Jschlatt promises to talk about why he hates Discord in the next episode. This was the beggining of a recurring bit in which one of the other podcast members remind Jschlatt that he had promised to talk about why he hates Discord, only for Jschlatt to make an excuses for why he doesn't want to talk about it and procrastinate it for the next episode. This culminated with Episode 25, titled "Why Schlatt hates discord"... which was almost entirely silent.
  • Flat "What": Jschlatt has this reaction following Mika's insane explanation of what he thinks an airplane is in Episode 2. This is mostly because Jschlatt tuned out halfway through.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Mika avoids any and all swear words, which sometimes results in conflict with the rest of the pod, who have no problem cussing. Several episodes involve Jschlatt, Apandah, and Aztro trying to get Mika to swear, usually to no avail.
  • Hive Mind: Apandah has this perception towards every woman in the world named Samantha, claiming they all lie and are evil. He makes an exception for the Samantha that watches the podcast and follows its twitter.
  • Idiot Ball: During a Mario Party Superstars video, the predicted winner of a game would receive an item, which in this case, is Apandah receiving a plunder chest. The issue was that he was already carrying three items and had to discard either one of two Skeleton Keys or a golden pipe. Logically, one of the Skeleton Keys would've had to go, but instead, Apandah tosses his golden pipe. Even with the excuse that he thought he was taking one of Schlatt's items, everyone wasted no time in calling him out for royally screwing himself over.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Aztro says that she would become a cannibal in Episode 6 in response to Mika asking her about her vegetarian habits. She then asks to move onto the next subject.
  • Inconsistent Episode Lengths: Each episode will usually last from 20 to 45 minutes.
    • The first episode was six minutes long, mainly because Mika had to leave early and Jschlatt couldn't do an entire podcast episode by himself.
    • Episode 53 only lasts for 11 minutes.
  • In It for Life: Played for Laughs with Aztro joining the podcast.
Aztrosist: I didn't sign the agreement!
Jschlatt: You're coming back every time now.
    Aztrosist: Oh god.
  • Insomnia Episode: This is basically every Sleep Deprived episode. The first episode even has a note at the beginning that points out that Jschlatt and Mika were recording the episode at 2 AM. In later episodes, the members will sometimes bring up that they're recording at 2 AM.
    • In episode 30, Ted Nivison exclaims, "...this is the Sleep Deprived podcast, I thought this was a respectable podcast, which by the way is getting recorded at ———-". He follows this by saying that he feels "well rested", alluding to the idea that the podcast is NOT recorded at ungodly hours but rather during daylight hours.
  • Interrupted by the End: Jschlatt invokes this in Episode 9 when Mika begins talking about Wonderwall trivia by shouting "And that's the end of the podcast episode".
  • Kiai: Episode 9 has nearly everyone imitate a tennis match by doing nothing but these.
  • Laughing Mad: The members discussed this when trying to determine if Aztro was actually doing the trope in response to a one-liner Apandah made. They were so unsure that they had to repeat the clip of Aztro laughing.
Mika: Well I think I know who's playing the Joker in the next Batman movie.
  • Only Sane Man: Jschlatt is the least chaotic of the four members of the podcast and usually has to put up with his co-hosts' antics most of the time. Not that this will stop him from contributing to the chaos.
  • No Sense of Direction: Mika displays this in full-force with the bridges he builds in Skyblock. Despite the island Mika is building a bridge to being in clear view, he builds them to be almost completely comprised of twists and turns that make them needlessly long instead of a straight bridge that consumes less resources and is faster to travel on.
Jschlatt: If you give Mika any more cobblestone, he will make a loop-de-loop before he gets to the tree, I swear to god.
  • Rule of Three: It was probably an unintentional example when Episode 3 of the podcast introduced its third member, having three people present for the episode.
  • Running Gag: One or more of the members bringing up airplanes in some manner. This mostly stemmed off of Mika believing they were continuing off Episode 2 where they talked about airplanes as the main subject and Aztrosist believing the podcast was entirely about airplanes when he joined in Episode 3. Even the episode descriptions are subject to this.
    • Another running gag is the "Hillary Clinton globule".
    • In their gaming videos, they tend to end them by saying 'baba booey'.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: In Episode 5, Mika briefly leaves the podcast the moment the current subject changed to talking about Hentai. He even rejoins the podcast while Apandah is retelling a scene and promptly leaves.
  • Special Guest: At the time of this writing, Sleep Deprived has had guest appearances from Slimecicle, Matt Watson, Ted Nivison, Nopeify, Pyrocynical, ConnorEatsPants, Jack Manifold and Nothin' But Lag.
  • Tempting Fate: In Episode 5, Mika makes up a "story" (actually calling two other members of the podcast disrespectful) with a moral of treating everyone with dignity and respect and to never refer to people as animals. Aztrosist immediately tells Mika he's a dog of a man.
