Basic Trope: A character's lack of interest in sex and/or romance is used to underscore a their villainous nature.

  • Straight:
    • The Big Bad Evulz sees no point in sex or romance.
    • Evulz is repulsed by sex or romance.
  • Exaggerated: Evulz literally has no idea what sex and romance are.
  • Downplayed:
    • Evulz is demisexual and/or demiromantic.
    • Evulz is an alloromantic asexual.
    • Evulz is aromantic, but allosexual.
    • Alice is an aromantic asexual, which pegs her as Ambiguously Evil.
  • Justified: Evulz is...
    • ...too busy being evil to think about sex and romance.
    • ...harboring a Freudian Excuse that made him averse to the idea of sex and romance.
    • ...The Sociopath, so he can't feel love and his grandiosity makes him think that the need for sex is beneath him.
    • ...from a race of aliens that reproduces asexually.
    • ...a robot.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted:
    • Evulz claims to be asexual, but it turns out that he's a Serial Rapist.
    • Evulz looks disinterested in sex and romance, but then he starts to develop a Villainous Crush, something that surprises him.
    • Evulz claims to not be interested in sex or romance, but that's only because he was hurt once when he tried to love someone. Now he believes that Love Is a Weakness.
    • Heroic Seductress Alice attempts to seduce Evulz, but he rejects it. The team assumes he's asexual, but then he is seen making out with a man.
    • Evulz actually is interested in sex and romance... with himself.
    • Evulz does experience sexual and romantic attraction. He just likes being evil more.
  • Double Subverted:
    • He doesn't specifically enjoy rape for sex. He is just a Sadist who knows Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil, so he uses that to hurt people.
    • He tries to act on it and maybe change his ways, but it still doesn't feel right to him. Leading him to believe that maybe he is aromantic and asexual.
    • This was a lie used to gain sympathy. He really is disinterested in sex and romance.
    • They send Bob in to do the same thing, but that doesn't work either. The man Evulz was with was just someone he was actively manipulating and was strictly doing it for his plans.
  • Parodied: Evulz avoids sex and romance like the plague because he is afraid of cooties.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • Evulz is alloromantic and/or allosexual (meaning he experiences some romantic and sexual attraction respectively).
    • No asexual or aromantic characters are evil.
    • There are asexual and aromantic characters all over the morality spectrum.
    • The topic of asexuality is not mentioned.
    • The work employs No Hugging, No Kissing, so Evulz being asexual is not that notable.
  • Implied: Every time someone flirts with Evulz, he brushes off their advances regardless of gender or attractiveness and seems annoyed at the attempts.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Of course, someone as heartless as you wouldn't know how love feels."
  • Invoked: Evulz is a eunuch.
  • Exploited: Emperor Evulz knows that the resistance to his empire has a Heroic Seductress. As a countermeasure, he makes sure all his henchmen are asexual so they won't be won over by her charms.
  • Defied: "The fact that I don't like sex doesn't make me a monster."
    • Alice is portrayed as asexual because the work has An Aesop that it's okay to hate sex and it is not above criticism. In contrast Emperor Evulz is also asexual but is a Foil to Alice due to his nature as an authoritarian puritanical tyrant who uses asexuality as a tool to justify his hypocrisy for believing that sex is fine when his chosen people do it.
  • Discussed: "Why is it that all aro-ace characters are villains?"
  • Played for Laughs:
  • Played for Drama:
    • Evulz's Start of Darkness involves people ostracizing him for not being into sex or romance. Everyone spread rumors about him and this alienated him further. When he rejects Alice, everyone treats him like a Complete Monster. Eventually, he decides if they'll treat him like a monster, then he might as well prove them right.
    • Alternatively, Alice ends up taking things too far after the rejection and decides to lock him up and rape him until he enjoys sex. All this does is damage Evulz's psyche and make him more bitter and vindictive.
