Their society is dysfunctional, and everyday life is a circus — which citizens of The Federation laugh at every Saturday morning.
- Exaggerated: 'Civilization' on Earth is on the verge of collapse due to the monumental incompetence of humanity until the Rayluon swoop down and save them from themselves with their vastly superior intellect; even the stupidest Rayluon would make Albert Einstein look like a chimpanzee in a zoo. But then it turns out that the Rayluon are actually, by far, the stupidest species in The Federation, with the next dumbest species making them look like insects.

- All of the aliens are either Transhuman Aliens with an artificially augmented intellect, or super-intelligent robots, while humanity is still technologically 'primitive'.

- Subverted: Xythax initially assumes that humans are this, until they realize that the idiotic behavior is restricted to only one backwater colony in a massive human empire, either due to cultivation of an anti-science/anti-intellectual society, or deliberate isolation of sufficiently stupid morons.
- Double Subverted: Then it's revealed that humans elsewhere aren't much better, it's just that the ones to whom Xythax was first exposed are the worst of the bunch.

- Television commercials that feature 'humans' typically feature trained zoo apes, and are treated as being Too Incompetent to Operate a Blanket. No one has a problem with this (except for the humans, but nobody would take them seriously), because who could tell the difference?
