Likewise, Plankton's plan to hypnotize the people of Bikini Bottom into liking chum is similar to his plan of using mind control to take over Bikini Bottom.
- The final reprise of "Bikini Bottom Day" ends with the cast playing their band instruments terribly.
- When the volcano cuts off all cable access in Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob tells a worried Patrick that they can just pass the time with "Imaginaaation!", complete with the hand gesture.
- When Patrick realizes that the sardines are starting to praise him for his "words of wisdom", he remarks, "Finally someone understands, the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma".
- Pearl's reluctance to run the Krusty Krab reflects the "Bossy Boots" episode where Pearl tried to sabotage her career as manager of the Krusty Krab because she would rather hang out with her friends.
- During "Best Day Ever", SpongeBob points at Squidward to cue him into the song. This time, though, Squidward happily joins in.
- When Plankton and Karen hatch a plan to use the Avalanche Maker 3000 to stop SpongeBob and Sandy, Plankton exclaims, "It's evil, it's diabolical, it's LEMON-SCENTED!"

- It's up to SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy to save Bikini Bottom from peril, much like in SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, where they were the three playable characters in the game.
