#NotMyRodrickExplanationAs Rodrick is poster child for DOAWK memes and Devon Bostick was beloved in the role, the recasting in The Long Haul movie led to a variety of memes over the backlash, most notably the hashtag #NotMyRodrick (a parody of the hashtag #NotMyPresident) which trended after the announcement.
"Ploopy!" Manny only said it a few times in The Last Straw, but it is used more often than "Bubby" by the fanbase.
Zoo-Wee Mama! ExplanationA line made to serve as the punchline of an in-universe comic series by Greg. Online, it sees use as a general interjection (though of course is seen most in regards to this series).
"Rodrick has filled a condom with Diet Coke, froze it, and bashed Manny over the head with it. Manny has fucking died," as posted by a Frank Heffley parody Twitter account.
The Cheese Touch has become quite popular.
"I'M NOT GAY, GREG," from the 25 Years Later fanfic, where Greg (who came out to Rowley in their youth) tries to visit Rowley in despair when Frank is dying from cancer. When Rowley finds Greg on his doorstep, he says this before slamming the door in his face.
ManosExplanationA series of memes which involve combining Manny with Thanos, sometimes accompanied by the catchphrase "I am inevitable, Bubby" or "Peace was never an option, Bubby."
"Good one, Manny!" ExplanationFrank's response to one of Manny's nonsensical "jokes" in Dog Days. This is followed by another picture of Manny continuing his "joke", by which point the whole family is tired of it. This set of images is often edited so that the initial picture shows a joke at an early point in its life, and the second picture shows the joke after being overextended and run into the ground, such as this one◊, or a particular form of media that has long overstayed its welcome (like Garten of Banban and its many sequels here◊).
"Think again, Shawn!" ExplanationAnother meme template, this one derived from a scene from Rodrick Rules where Greg bluntly tells a kid named Shawn that he'll never be a basketball player because he's too short and fat. Memes in this vein started with Greg giving different reasons why Shawn's dream won't come true, before, then altered Shawn's dialogue so that Greg was correcting Shawn about something else.
"Greg, will you please pass this note to Shelly?" ExplanationYet another meme template, this time with the contents of the note being changed.
During the Black Lives Matter protests throughout June 2020, graffiti of Manny began to appear around the United States. These images would be accompanied by the phrases "ACAB" note All Cops Are Bastards and "The Manny will not be televised."
Blowouts are fucking funny. ExplanationA quote that was used by Reddit user TuanPINGAS in the memes he's made. It spread throughout to the point where the creator banned it from the subreddit.
"WHAT WAS GENERAL GRANT DOING ON THE THERMOSTAT?" ExplanationOne of Frank Heffley's lines from the Rodrick Rules film, which has become memetic due to Steve Zahn's over-the-top delivery of the line.
"I'm sorry women." ExplanationA quote from the first book and the first movie. When Susan finds one of Rodrick's dirty magazines, she asks him several questions about it. The last of the questions she asks is "Do you have anything to say to women for having owned this offensive magazine?" to which Rodrick responds "I'm sorry, women." This line became memetic once fans discovered a hat with that line on it◊ which was being sold as official Diary of a Wimpy Kid merchandise.
"I'M THE LAUGHINGEST LAUGHER THAT EVER LAUGHED! HA HA!"ExplanationAnother of Frank Heffley's lines, this time from the Dog Days film. It has gained notoriety and memetic status for being the absolute hammiest line delivered by Steve Zahn in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid films.
"It's a diaper! It's a diaper!" ExplanationGreg says this in The Long Haul movie after falling into the ball pit and freaking out after his hand gets stuck to a dirty diaper. Much like the movie, it became popular for fans to make just as many "Diaper Hands" jokes as the characters in the movie did.
"Don't call me. Don't come by my house. We're done."ExplanationThis line, spoken by Rowley in the first film when he finds out that Greg is why he got suspended from Safety Patrol, became a popular meme template on TikTok, mainly for Robert Capron's surprisingly serious delivery.
"Wood you wike some hewowin?"ExplanationIn the original panel, Manny says "Wood you wike some chokwits?" to a neighbor when Rodrick is making him sell chocolate bars for a fundraiser. Someone edited it so he tries to sell heroin to the neighbor instead.
"Greg Heffley, can you please come up to the front of the room and do the problem?"ExplanationAn animated scene of Greg messing with a substitute teacher is edited with Greg saying or making various noises.
"♫ And I need you now tonight! And I need you more than ever! ♫"ExplanationIn the first movie, students audition for The Wizard of Oz by (poorly) singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart," until Greg impresses the teacher with his soprano rendition of the aforementioned lyric. Re-uploads of the montage often label the kids according to a specific category, with the writer of the labels saving their favorite item for Greg.
Rowley waving, then staring.ExplanationIn the church scene of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, Greg is wearing his mom's pink shawl after finding out that he sat on Manny's chocolate bar, which made him look like he just soiled himself. When Rowley notices Greg, he excitedly waves, before noticing the shawl, looking at it with a concerned expression on his face. This was promptly memed by the fanbase, using it as a reaction gif (such as "saying hi to a friend but their nuts are hanging out").
"I'm ownwy thwee!"/"He's only three!"ExplanationA line Manny says in Rodrick Rules as an explanation for why he stuffed a cookie into Greg's game console, which according to Greg is the excuse he always uses whenever he gets in trouble. The line is popular in the fanbase as a tongue-in-cheek defense of Manny's actions, especially in relation to fanfiction, where Manny is often subject to extreme Adaptational Villainy.
"ok rowley now hit the second tower"ExplanationA Tweet comparing Nikki, the Girly Girl protagonist of Dork Diaries, with Memetic Psychopath Greg Heffley, which claims that while Nikki is busy worrying about normal preteen girl stuff, Greg is busy bullying Rowley into committing terrorism (including 9/11) and treating it like an Impractical Jokers segment to boost his ego.
The relationship chart made by Greg in The Third Wheel has been edited to feature different people or different statuses.
