Blue Bloods is a series of novels about "teenage" vampires in New York high society who are forced to do battle with the Croatans — the mortal enemies of the Blue Bloods. The series is written by Melissa De La Cruz

Books in the series:

  • Blue Bloods
  • Masquerade
  • Revelations
  • The Van Alen Legacy
  • Misguided Angel
  • Lost In Time
  • Gates Of Paradise

Blue Bloods Novels contain examples of:

  • A Fête Worse than Death: The dinner party in Rio. Most of the council is killed. Mimi Force and the Llewelleyns are among the few survivors.
  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy - Caligula was Lucifer, which actually kind of makes sense. Also Valerius and Agrippina were the Ancient Rome versions of Jack and Mimi.
  • Big Man on Campus - Jack Force. Oliver even refers to him as the BMOC in one conversation with Schuyler.
  • Blonde Brunette Red Head: Mimi, Schuyler, and Bliss respectively. Finn, Schuyler's paternal half-sister could fit the blonde category as well.
  • Crazy Survivalist: The Blue Blood community seems to view Lawrence Van Alen as one. Charles Force in particular sneers that Lawrence would have them hiding in caves again.
  • Dances and Balls: The Blue Bloods throw them all the time, but the Four Hundred Ball held in New York deserves special mention. The muggles call it the Patrician Ball.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Jack Force is Abbadon, the Dark Angel of the Apocalypse. The Werewolves or Hounds of Hell that helped defeat Lucifer in the first Great War. When Bliss goes to find them, they turn out to be pretty decent. Also the witch that Oliver meets.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Mimi Force. She is jealous of Schuyler for having Jack's affection and of Bliss when Bliss begins to outshine her socially. Mimi is also jealous of Gabrielle, and the crush that Jack has had on her for centuries.
  • Improbable Age: Mimi Force starts serving in the council at age 17, and also joins the Venators at the same age. But is mostly due to the fact that she is from a founder family and there have been heavy losses.
  • Hollywood Genetics - Leaving aside the weirdness of the vampire's take on in vitro fertilization (we just keep on using the same DNA again and again and somehow it works!) it's totally impossible for twins to be Not Blood Siblings.
  • The Mole: Nan Cutler, member and later Regent of the Blue Blood Council is secretly a Silver Blood.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Mimi indirectly tries to get Schuyler killed at least once. Schuyler has a brief fantasy of letting the Silver Bloods take Mimi.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Jack Force's actual name is Benjamin Hamilton Force. He got nicknamed Blackjack in childhood due to temper tantrums and it stuck. Mimi's full name is Madeleine Alexis Force. No one calls her Madeleine unless is in an official context, like during her trial.
  • Playful Hacker: Kingsley Martin is known to regularly hack into his files and change things.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Dylan Ward is killed as the sacrifice to release the Levithian. Lawrence Van Alen also dies in that attack.
  • Reincarnation Romance: The Blue Bloods that were bonded in heaven. Subverted in the cases of Allegra and Charles. Allegra rejected their bond, which deeply embittered Charles. Jack also forsook his bond to Mimi out of love for Allegra's daughter Schuyler.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Mimi wants to kill Jack for breaking their bond. Even though they are at war and they need his power to face the enemy and she is in love with Kingsley.
