Villanelle: [bleeding out] How long till we get there?
Driver: Er, maybe ten minutes.
Villanelle: Do you know how to dispose of a body?
Driver: No!

Eve is reeling from her act of violence against Villanelle and doesn't know whether she is alive or dead. A paranoid and severely injured Villanelle manages to get herself to the hospital for treatment. Carolyn approaches Eve with an opportunity.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Eve has lots of questions for Carolyn when she is summoned to work with her again, but is silenced when Carolyn asks, "What really happened in Paris?"
  • Bloody Handprint: There's one next to the staircase Villanelle hides in from the agents of The Twelve.
  • Body Horror: Villanelle inspecting Gabriel's eye wound from the car accident and it isn't a pretty sight.
Villanelle: You look like a pizza.
  • Brutal Honesty: Villanelle's interaction with Gabriel concerning his injuries is mostly this. Justified by Gabriel since he says that doctors and nurses are preventing him from knowing how bad they are when he just wants to know the truth. He also knows that Villanelle isn’t one to mince words and asks her to look under his bandages for this very reason.
  • Bury Your Disabled: Villanelle meets Gabriel, who has been severely injured in the car accident that killed his parents. She kills him due to believing he's better off that way.
  • Comfort Food: Eve buys a bag of candy and devours some to calm her nerves.
  • Deadly Hug: Villanelle gives Gabriel a hug just before snapping his neck.
  • Eye Scream: Gabriel lost an eye from his near-fatal car accident.
  • The Food Poisoning Incident: Eve fakes being ill from eating a bad oyster as an excuse for why she abruptly left her bags at the airport checkout to go to the bathrooms.
  • Inappropriate Hunger: Eve was taken aback by the smell of the corpse in the morgue then was suddenly surprised that she wanted to eat a burger. Justified by the medical examiner when she said that the smell of formaldehyde makes someone crave for meat.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: Villanelle has hearts in her eyes as she talks about how Eve stabbed her.
Villanelle: A woman stabbed me. I know. It surprised me too. But she did it to show me how much she cared about me.
  • Mercy Kill: Villanelle kills Gabriel after he says he doesn't want to live like this and wishes he died in the car crash. So… sort of? But he's only a twelve-year-old, and he says it while crying, so it's fair to say it's he didn't really mean it—more an expression of pain than a sincere wish.
  • Mistaken for Junkie: A women sits next to Eve and sees her gently stabbing her hand with a pen. The woman tries to console Eve who misinterprets the gesture as knowing what she did to Villanelle. Turns out she just assumed Eve was a junkie struggling to stay sober.
  • Mood Whiplash: It seems Villanelle's moment of consoling Gabriel is sincere but a second later she snaps his neck and tucks his body back into bed.
  • Post-Stress Overeating: Eve eats some candy to lower her stress, then makes a big dinner with chicken and a lot of vegetables.
  • Self-Harm: Eve continually stabs herself in the hand with a pen after believing she's killed Villanelle.
  • Shower of Angst: Eve's hour-long bath.
  • These Hands Have Killed: Downplayed. Eve has a moment of this when she's bathing, staring at her hands and appearing to zone out.
  • Time Skip: Averted. It picks up 30 seconds after the previous episode ended.
  • Worst Aid: Villanelle uses a homeless man's vodka to sterilize her stomach wound.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Both Eve and Villanelle resort to this. Eve says tells train security that she had a bad oyster, which was why she had to leave her things momentarily, and she is allowed to board the train. Villanelle gets to leave the hospital by telling the orderly she got her results and needed a moment alone, which gives her the opportunity to escape from the hospital.
