Konstantin: Leave her alone. She is a parasite, Eve. She gets into your brain, she eats you up, to make space for herself. Like that book with the hungry worm and all that food. Pickles, tomatoes…
Eve: The Hungry Caterpillar?
Konstantin: Yes. That's her.

Villanelle's circumstances are looking bleak; Eve makes a dangerous deal with an old acquaintance.

Tropes in this episode:

  • All Love Is Unrequited: While in disguise, Villanelle sympathizes with Gemma as they both want someone who is already taken—Gemma wants Niko while Villanelle wants Eve.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's not made clear if the apple Eve sees in Niko's classroom was indeed left there by Villanelle or not. The episode seems to imply it's just a coincidence and Eve was Right for the Wrong Reasons—Villanelle really was there, but the apple is not a clue.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Villanelle looks as if she's going to stab Konstantin. Turns out it was only a hug.
  • Betty and Veronica: Eve (the Betty) and Emma (the Veronica) over her husband Niko (the Archie). Also, Niko (the Betty) and Villanelle (the Veronica) over Eve (the Archie).
  • Blatant Lies:
    • Villanelle telling Raymond she didn’t spend any money.
    • Villanelle telling Konstantin she liked Raymond.
  • Big "NO!": Eve, after they just narrowly miss Villanelle.
  • The Dreaded: Raymond, Villanelle’s new handler, is described as this by Konstantin. He handles errant assassins who are on the verge of being eliminated by the organization who employs Villanelle. He’s indeed so dangerous that he’s considered as someone to be wary of even by effective contract killers, and it reflects their precarious situation as a liability for an all-powerful organization like The Twelve adding more danger in an inherently risky profession. Of course, Villanelle is flippant and continues to taunt Raymond even saddling him with credit card bills for her expensive purchases.
  • False False Alarm: Eve pulls the fire alarm in the school to seek out Villanelle.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Hugo makes a Double Entendre about Villanelle possibly working with The Ghost. Eve is not amused.
Hugo: Maybe they're working together. Girl on girl.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Eve downs a mini hotel liquor bottle after Villanelle escapes.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: Just as Eve seduces Niko in an empty classroom, Eve spots a red apple sitting on a desk and believes it is from Villanelle.
  • It's All About Me: Niko accuses Eve of acting like this.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Because Eve is pursuing "a new girl" The Ghost instead of her, Villanelle decides to try to sabotage Eve's marriage by manipulating Gemma into having an affair with Niko.
  • Lethal Chef: Eve makes breakfast for Niko, and while he agrees it's a nice geasture he's reluctant to actually eat it.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Villanelle. She not only calls Niko’s school and files a complaint of inappropriate behavior with a student, but she sneaks into a staff party dressed as a bohemian art teacher and tries persuading a flirtatious colleague to pursue an affair with Mr. Polastri.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Eve in a blue dress.
  • Meadow Run: Villanelle slow-mo runs toward Konstantin, a knife in her hand—a knife she was carrying because she feared it would be someone else. When she reaches him, she give him a huge bear hug.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Eve believes Emma wants her husband Niko.
  • Missed Him by That Much: Just when Eve and her team think they finally caught Villanelle, Villanelle escapes through a window.
  • Rule of Symbolism: The apple Eve finds on a classroom table.
  • Sadistic Choice: Villanelle gives one to Emma while in disguise, it's either seduce the wants and break up his marriage or die as an old lady with cats.
  • Separated by the Wall: Villanelle and Eve, briefly by hotel doors.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Eve, when Kenny does not comply with her wishes.
Kenny: Then lose her this time.
    Eve: NO!
  • Suspiciously Apropos Music: Much to Villanelle’s dismay, the lyrics to Roxette's "Listen to Your Heart" actually apply to her when she became jealous over Eve investigating the new assassin, especially with its lyrics about regret and a love lost.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Villanelle makes one through a phone call to the school framing Niko of inappropriate behavior.
