They're Spoiled Sweet and they're about to warm the Schitt out of your heart.

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • Johnny and Moira are still an active and loving couple, with an active sex life. It's wonderful to see a middle aged couple who still do all sorts of athletic shit, at lease off screen.
  • Stevie's gradual integration as a member of the Rose family, starting when David reassures her at her aunt's funeral that he will always make sure she's remembered and she does great things with her life. Followed up by both of them admitting that they are each other's only friend.
  • In response to dealing with Stevie in distress after she and David spend the night together, Johnny's response is to drop all of his concerns and make sure she's okay, including offering to call the police. That she's distressed at having been caught sleeping with Johnny's son is the last thing on his radar; he just wants to make sure she's safe.
  • Johnny and Moira show up at the Schitt's luau in their unfashionable garb, Johnny in an all-white suit, Moira with one of her wigs. Roland comments on Johnny's suit, Jocelyn on Moira's wig... they're getting to know each other. They learn their limits, they learn to fit in. They're becoming a family. Then Roland pulls out a joint and Jocelyn fires up the cheese fountain while Johnny passes Moira a pile of smoke through a kiss.
  • Special mention needs to go to Johnny unveiling the Rosebud motel in front of Stevie when she worries that he'll leave her behind. Not only does he never do that, he and Moira come to consider her as another of their kids.
  • At the end of Moira's surprise party, Johnny gives the side-eye to Jocelyn and Roland as the latter is slow-dancing with his hands firmly planted on his wife's behind — only for Moira to lovingly grab Johnny as well, showing that they too are indeed Happily Married.
  • Roland asks David for help picking out some clothes for Jocelyn as a sexy surprise for their Meryl Streep roleplay. Despite David feeling like a Fish out of Water the whole time and suspecting Roland is mocking him, Roland delivers a sincere appreciation of the skills David has that he lacks.
  • In "Moira's Nudes" of Season 2, Moira is trying very, very hard to find nude photographs of her younger self all over the internet, positive that there has to be at least one out there. It at first seems like Moira is trying to protect her image, only for her to confess to Stevie that she wants there to be nudes of herself, as she misses her younger body—she thought if they would be anywhere, it would be the internet. She sighs in defeat to Johnny later, and he tells her to look at what he keeps in the front pocket of his folder: an (implied illicit) photograph of her on a Greek vacation of theirs in the 80s. Johnny tells her that he still thinks she looks magnificent, and with a kiss, Moira confirms that that's enough. It's another very sweet reminder that for all their bickering, Johnny and Moira are still deeply in love with each other after 40+ years of marriage.
  • In the Season Finale of Season 2, Moira, Johnny, Roland, and Jocelyn crash a party the younger generation is having at Mutt's barn. With Johnny's encouragement, Moira tells David and Alexis that they love them very much. Alexis responds in kind immediately, and David rolls his eyes but says he loves them. The Roses dance as a family to James Morrison's "Precious Love" as the rest of the party guests dance as well. The last shot shows David smiling and appearing genuinely happy, possibly for the first time in his adult life.
    • The scene before that has Johnny and Moira going out to dinner in Elmdale, and run into a couple old friends who were in the area. The dinner is crashed by Roland and Jocelyn, who Johnny and Moira had previously told they wanted to be alone for their anniversary evening. The dinner drags and gets more and more uncomfortable, until it finally ends with Johnny taking a stand, calling out the old friends for dropping them completely when they were no longer rich, and then asserting his love for Schitt's Creek, Roland, Jocelyn, and the life they've made for themselves there.
Johnny: You wrote us off, Don. Not a phone call, not an e-mail, not a nickel. Roland and Jocelyn here could not have been more generous, with what little they have. They found us a place to live. They've offered us their truck whenever we've needed it, they've invited us to their parties, they even offered to take us out to dinner tonight. [...] And that town you passed through? It's not called Shitsville. It's called Schitt's Creek, and it's where we live.
  • Stevie sees Johnny desperately misses playing golf, so she just asks the golf course they're pitching a relationship with if he can play a round. Then she hangs out with him (day-drinking ;) ) while he works his way through at least the front nine.
  • Patrick responds to David's messages first by gently teasing him then by telling him he filled out his incorporation papers for him. He's barely holding in a smile and it's obviously David charmed him from the start.
  • Moira is very gentle about allowing Roland to share in her little burst of glory, getting a bit of funding for Schitt's Creek from the municipality. She agrees to spend the evening in the bar with him so he can spend the evening basking.
  • Johnny and Moira at the Rose Apothecary grand opening. They're clearly blown away by what David has been able to do with the place.
  • In the season finale of Season 3, Alexis tries to downplay her disappointment that her family is not coming to her graduation. Then, Ted shows up to take pictures and support her, and the surprise for the graduates is revealed to be a performance by the Jazzagals with Moira on lead vocals, singing to a thrilled Alexis. Meanwhile, at the cafe, Stevie points out to a clueless David that his birthday dinner with Patrick is a date, and she surreptitiously gives David a thumbs up and a smile behind Patrick as she leaves. Having previously had her heart broken by David, her giving blessing to his potential happiness touches David. Patrick and David share their First Kiss before David returns home to be welcomed by his family and the parents sing Happy Birthday/Graduation to their children.
  • It's quite heartwarming in and of itself when Patrick serenades David with "Simply the Best" at Open Mic Night, but David realizing just how romantic a moment this is coupled with Moira being moved to Tears of Joy for her son, makes the moment very special.
  • In the season 4 finale, David and Ted share a talk about their past heartbreaks and the risks of trusting again. Alexis has declared her love for Ted and Patrick for David, and both men fear being hurt again. After the talk, David goes to Patrick and tearfully declares his love. Meanwhile, Alexis tells the crowd gathered for Singles Week about her having let go of Ted, via a key metaphor. With Moira's encouragement, she plays a musical chairs game only to find herself across from Ted who kisses her in front of a cheering crowd. Meanwhile, Jocelyn gives birth to a son that she and Roland name Roland Moira Schitt.
  • In the Christmas Episode, Johnny has been disappointed in his family's lack of interest in throwing a Christmas party. Moira takes him back to the motel and finds that Alexis, David, Patrick, Ted, and Stevie have decorated Johnny and Moira's motel room for Christmas. Roland, Jocelyn, and the Jazzagals are there as guests party guests as Twyla leads the Jazzagals in a Christmas carol.
  • During the Baseball Episode, Johnny forgets to field the ball because David, who is playing for the other team, makes a surprise hit to win the game. It's a sweet moment that illustrates just how much Johnny loves his son, but it doesn't cross the line into sappy because David has been hit by the ball and remains more interested in the post-game barbeque than winning.
  • In Season 5, Episode 8, "The Hospies", Moira offers Stevie the part of Sally Bowles in Cabaret to console her after her relationship roadblock with Emir. In doing, she tells Stevie how much faith she has in her (and reassures her that Johnny didn't put her up to it).
  • In "Meet the Parents", David invites Patrick's parents to a surprise birthday party for their son, but when they arrive at the motel Johnny refers to their romantic relationship without realizing Patrick hasn't come out to them. This leads to Patrick's touching Coming-Out Story. David, showing his strong Character Development, spends the rest of the day trying to smooth things over while supporting Patrick and trying to make sure he comes out to his parents on his own terms. In the end, Patrick's parents are accepting and loving, and David helps Patrick through the still difficult coming out process. David and Patrick dance together at the cafe and Patrick reveals he figured out his parents knew, but he says this was one of the happiest nights of his life. It illustrates how difficult coming out can be even with the most loving of parents. And the ending credits begin with resources for anyone needing help coming out.
  • In the Season 5 episode "The Hike", Moira, Alexis, and David all get to show their strong Character Development since the first season.
    • As Alexis keeps throwing up roadblocks to her Galapagos Islands trip with Ted, she eventually admits that she knows she will be thinking about her family while she is there. Ted assures her that this is normal and it's called missing people but she says it is new to her.
    • At the motel, Johnny experiences chest pains and Moira, Stevie and Roland take him to the hospital. In a touching but still hilarious performance by Catherine O'Hara, Moira tries to take control even as she panics and makes it clear how much she loves Johnny. She is very relieved when he is okay, as are Roland and a tearful Stevie.
    • Meanwhile, Patrick takes David on a picnic in the woods, and David whines about the length of the hike. This hurts Patrick's feelings, and he says they should turn around but he hurts his foot. David realizes his mistake and tends to Patrick's foot and insists they finish the hike, even going so far as to carrying Patrick part of the way. As David sets up the picnic, Patrick asks him to retrieve something from one of the backpacks. It's a ring box. David sobs as Patrick proposes, and the box contains four gold rings otherwise identical to the silver ones David wears every day:
Patrick: "So I used to come on this hike a lot when I just moved here. I was developing feelings for this guy I had just gotten into business with. And...I didn't know what to do about it because I didn't know if that guy had the same feelings or if I'd ever be able to muster up the courage to let him know how I felt. And now, here he is, the love of my life, standing in front of me. And this just felt like the perfect place to ask you to marry me."
  • In the Season 5 Finale, Stevie prepares to play Sally Bowles in Moira's community theatre production of Cabaret, and David tells her he is engaged to Patrick. Still nursing her hurt from her failed relationship with Emir, she appears overjoyed for David but she also cries. Then, she disappears. David, Moira, and others fear the worst, but Stevie shows up to the theatre having picked up an engagement gift and having turned her phone off. She presents David with a set of monogrammed towels, which she ordered when Patrick had asked for her blessing before proposing because with David no longer living at the motel she won't be able to bring him towels. Backstage, Moira and Stevie talk, and she admits she's happy to see others happy but wishes she didn't have to observe from behind the desk. Moira begins to deliver a speech to lift Stevie's spirits and encourage her...but Stevie realizes halfway through that the older woman is talking to Sally. Moira happily concurs:
Moira: You I'm not worried about. What the hell is your secret, Stevie? You just stand your solid ground, refusing to be anything but you. Never thought I'd say this about anyone in this town, but you...you're very very cool. And whether you set sail or stay put, that's not going to change. Now why don't we take our Sally by the hand, and we go out there and show those people everything she could be—if she were only more like you.
    • This Rousing Speech inspires Stevie to sing her heart out during "Maybe This Time," gradually going from nervous to amazingly confident. At different points, we see audience reactions—David is smiling with utter love, and a shot of Moira backstage shows her crying Tears of Joy. When Stevie finishes, the audience immediately gives her a standing ovation, with David telling everyone in earshot "That's my friend!"
  • When Alexis assumes she's going to be David's Maid of Honour, she's disappointed to learn David has already asked Stevie. At first determined to wrest the position away from Stevie, Alexis realizes that Stevie is not only looking forward to being David's Maid of Honour, she needs it as a boost to her self-esteem. So, Alexis instead assists Stevie in her duties in a way that makes Stevie feel empowered. David then asks Alexis to give him away at the wedding.
  • Stevie not only read Johnny's book, but was inspired to come up with the plan to launch the Rosebud franchise, telling Johnny that not only are they not going to sell the second motel, they're going to buy thirty more.
  • David, after learning Patrick had been trying to buy a house in town that David thought was cute and that Stevie doesn't plan on moving to New York, has a heartfelt conversation with Stevie in front of the house. She asks him why he wants to move to New York when people there were so cruel to him, and he tearfully says he wanted to show them he wasn't a joke and he won. Stevie tearfully points at the house and says that he has won, and that she wants him to stay. David later tells his family he plans on staying in town, and then takes a blindfolded Patrick to the house and reveals that he has made an offer on it because he doesn't want to be anywhere Patrick doesn't want to be. Patrick promises to make him happy and they kiss in front of what will be their home.
  • Roland and Johnny's friendship is tremulous, and Johnny often has to get them out of the trouble that Roland causes. But when Roland overhears the executives of the firm badmouthing Johnny after his pitch, Roland doesn't waste a second putting them in their place. Johnny is crushed to learn that the firm is rejecting them, but Roland assures him that they don't deserve working with Johnny. Roland can be accused of many things, but he can never be accused of disloyalty.
  • The Series Finale contains a few heartwarming moments. The town rallying around David and Patrick when rain threatens to ruin their wedding. Alexis telling her mom how much she loves her. The Jazzagals singing Precious Love and The Best. Patrick singing Mariah Carey in his vows. Ray and most of the wedding guests crying. Moira officiating the wedding. Most of all, Johnny and Moira saying goodbye to their four children, David, Alexis, Patrick and Stevie.
