Heartwarming / Power Rangers Cosmic Fury

Go To

Episode 1: Lightning Strikes

  • Ollie squeeing when he realizes he's fighting alongside Blue Ranger living legend Billy Cranston.
  • As we've seen, Earth's Power Ranger teams have formed a little community, as demonstrated by the fact that Billy is conducting research with Mick.
  • Mick has medical knowledge and helps Javi when he goes into shock. Mick is largely a Plucky Comic Relief character, but Kelson Henderson definitely brings dignity to the wacky shapeshifter when the situation demands it.

Episode 2: Beyond Repair

  • Solon and Billy trying to comfort Javi over the loss of his arm. While it doesn't do much to lift his spirits, it's nice to see them being supportive, Billy even trying to reassure him that he still has his musical talent.
  • Although it's a bit of tragic Dramatic Irony, Warden Garcia is just as excited about Javi's record deal as he is about Izzy going to college, which is a big step up from Dino Fury.
  • Amelia gives the much-needed pep talk when they are teleported to Erridus, demonstrating that she has what it takes to lead them moving forward.

Episode 3: Off Grid

  • Billy helping Javi re-string his guitar.
  • A cute moment between Solon, Izzy, and Fern as they look over Solon's abandoned engineering blueprints. Solon says she approves of Izzy's taste in romantic partners.
  • Amelia being the Red Cosmic Fury Ranger. No one puts her down or doubts her; they truly believe she is capable of leading the team.
    • Want proof? When Aiyon is in a funk over losing Zayto and is unable to cook, she is the one who reassures him that things are going to be okay and they will find him.
  • General Shaw makes a cameo over a news broadcast, giving a Rousing Speech to the world as they face Zedd's invasion: "We've seen invasions before, but we're still here. Let me assure you, Earth stands united and defiant."
  • Fern tells Izzy that it's fine if the two of them got stranded on another planet and how things will work out, as long as they have each other. Fern even brought Izzy's Oakdale College hoodie with her, reminding them of the future that they will have together.

Episode 4: Team Work

  • Levvina as a setting does not allow for violence to win the day, because the biome itself will fight back. So the Rangers instead use honest communication to get the forest on their side. And while it's a painful Wham Line, the forest also imparts some essential wisdom to Zayto: "Enjoy the time you have left."
  • When the Rangers have Ollie's Squidrill on the ropes, Amelia warns him what is about to happen and pleads to let her save him. Even after he's fallen this far, Amelia refuses to believe that her honey muffin is gone forever.
  • Once Zayto sees Amelia as the Red Ranger, he gives her his blessing about the new color and praises her for stepping up when the situation called for it. A great way to pass the torch from one Rafkonian to another.

Episode 5: Rock Out

  • We open the episode with Javi playing the drums, finally having gotten used to his prosthetic arm. Although his teammates aren't quite as enthusiastic about his playing, it's nice to see him finding new ways to create music despite his handicap. Fern even compliments him on his playing.
  • Fern's wonderstruck expression when she gets to ride in the Chameleo Zord with Izzy. She even (accidentally) helps save the day when she remote-summons the Wolf Zord.
  • Once everything is said and done, the team sings Javi's song he wrote, giving them a nice bit of levity.
  • Amelia is finally comfortable calling Tarrick "Dad".

Episode 6: Lift Off

  • "Those look like my claws!"
  • After learning how Fern became a Power Ranger, going to save Solon on her own and Solon's DNA creating a new Cosmic Orb, Izzy looks ready to get mad at her girlfriend...but then openly admits that Fern did awesome back there and she would've done the same if their roles were swapped.

Episode 7: Operation Seasoning

  • Solon's pure joy when she gets to grow as tall as a skyscraper.
  • The Garcia family group hug once Carlos, Rina, and Lily are broken out of jail.
  • Fern is the only Ranger whose parents exist entirely offscreen, but as evidenced by the six hundred voice mails they left on her phone, they were worried sick about her.
  • Tarrick finds a kindred spirit in Heckyl as a fellow reformed villain. "From one ex-bad guy to another, not bad."

Episode 8: Switching Sides

  • It's Dr. Akana who figures out how Ollie's corruption works, and gives the team the critical piece of information they need to set him free. She hasn't given up on getting her son back.
  • Aiyon gifts a mother his recipe for Flargon Cake so she can make it for her daughter. This ends up benefiting him when he follows the daughter (who ran away upset when she assumed she wasn't getting a cake) and find Mucus and Slyther performing a magic show.
  • “Nobody should have to feel they don’t belong in their body”. Zayto says before he restores Mucus to her Sporix Form. Given the lesbian relationship with Fern and Izzy, alongside the return of Billy, while its talking about how Mucus doesn’t like being human. It is not impossible to read transgender symbolism in it. Further cementing that Power Rangers is and always will be about supporting everyone. Also, take note that Zayto restoring Mucus's Sporix form heavily decreases whatever magic the Morphin Masters gave him to keep him alive, yet he still did this out of altruism.
  • Mucus and Slyther managing to redeem themselves as truly loving their circus act is this and gives the two a chance to help the Rangers by making up for all the trouble they caused.
  • When you think about it, Aiyon was willing to forgive and accept Mucus and Slyther despite the trouble they caused to the Rangers and the fact the former is a Sporix, the species that killed most of Rafkon's population sixty-five million years ago. So the fact Aiyon has enough maturity not to hold it against them and see through his own eyes that they have redeemed themselves is this.

Master Plan

  • Amelia, like many a Red Ranger before her, refuses to leave a teammate in trouble, and rallies the team for a rescue mission to Eltar.
  • Some dialogue from Billy establishes that the alien refugees from Zedd's war are settling into Newtech City on Earth. If Cosmic Fury truly is the end of the Shared Universe that began in 1993 with Mighty Morphin', then that means Emperor Gruumm's reign of terror will begin and end in 2025, and as far as we know, there is no more supernatural nonsense and intergalactic warmongering in this world until the thirty-first century. They just need to stick out past one last battle with evil, and then the people of Earth, native-born and immigrant, finally get some much-deserved peace in their lives.
  • Slyther reassures Ollie when his regrets for his time as Zedd's slave start to sink in. Surprisingly, Slyther actually has some decent advice for him about how he can't know Amelia's feelings until he actually sees her again.
  • Ollie's long-awaited reunion with his teammates.
Amelia: I always knew that wasn't you. The real Ollie is back! And we're back.
    Ollie: We are?
Amelia: Of course, babe. I missed you so much!
Aiyon: She's not the only one.
  • After a Big Damn Hug between Ollie and Amelia, Ollie makes his way to the rest of the team and embraces each of them too.
  • Ollie has no powers at this point; there are only six Cosmic Orbs. He has no reason to believe that he'll ever morph again, but he refuses to sit by idly and puts his technological skills to work to help them make a new weapon. And that is when the Grid responds. Zayto's tyrannosaurus orb glows with a blue triceratops; it's time for Ollie to take his place as the 11th-Hour Ranger.

Episode 10: The End

  • "Maybe that's it. Maybe that's been it this whole time. Sharing the danger." Power Rangers as a franchise has always been about the importance of teamwork, but it's rarely been summarized as beautifully as it is in this scene. Plus, as a species of telepaths, sharing and honest communication is at the heart of Rafkonian culture, allowing Amelia and Aiyon to honor their people as they save the universe.
  • Lord Zedd's ultimate fate, surprisingly, as it leaves open the possibility that he might genuinely turn good some day. Zayto outright states that he brought Zedd to Nibyro because not even the Emperor of Evil is beyond redemption.
  • Amelia blows a small kiss to Zayto when they see him off.
  • The end of the series is one big send-off for this incarnation of Power Rangers, and indeed, the 30-year continuity.
    • Javi holds a concert with his song belting out "May the Power Protect You". He has fully adjusted to his mechanical arm. Just as Solon predicted in episode one, things won't be the same, but they will be okay.
    • Aiyon's revelation about the being in the void makes Billy realize that Zordon's spirit is still out there. Amelia is always down for a ghost hunt, ensuring that the adventures will continue.
    • The Rangers' parents join in on the concert. Lani dances beside her son, Pop-Pop with Amelia, and Carlos and Rina with Javi and Izzy. Carlos even adorably spins Rina around like it's a tango.
    • The only reason Tarrick and Santaura aren't here is because Santaura unexpectedly gave birth early. Tarrick sends a photo to Amelia, introducing her to her new little sister, Poppy, named after Pop-Pop. He joyfully welcomes the new little nugget into his life.
    • Mick gets to be part of the final curtain call, a lovely tip-of-the-hat to Kelson Henderson and all the work he's put in as a recurring actor in Power Rangers since the New Zealand era began.
    • Our two Official Couples dance cheek-to-cheek. Izzy and Fern are historic for the franchise, and after Ollie and Amelia spent most of the season as literal star-crossed lovers, a moment of pure, uncomplicated joy is exactly what they need.
    • From the Grid, Zayto watches on with a smile and some final words.
Zayto: (Aside Glance) Cool, cool, coolio.
