  • How was Sephiroth able to poison Ivysaur? Or Lucario for that matter? Both of them are immune to poison through their typings (Ivysaur being half poison-type, and Lucario being half steel-type). Unless he was able to create a poison so powerful, it even affects beings immune to poison.
    • Considering we learn that characters can only be revived via methods from their own universes (although some loopholes are used such as with K. Rool and the Duck Hunt Duo), there's probably enough wiggle room that Sephiroth's poison is different enough from Pokemon poison to be effective. Or he just used herbicide and a metal corrosion agent instead for them specifically. He also used the metal corrosion agent for R.O.B. and Mega Man.
    • Considering both Ivysaur and Lucario are Pokémon, maybe he got specialized poison from a Salazzle or a Salandit with the Corrosion ability.
  • While it's awesome Samus didn't succumb to the poison, it does raise one question. Who, or what was in the suit if Samus departed the mansion weeks prior of the E3 event?
    • Probably some sort of AI or autopilot system, although that does raise the question of why it didn't react when Sephiroth poisoned everyone, or how Sephiroth didn't notice that Samus wasn't inside the suit.
  • Why didn't the Smashers go to Alola instead of Sinnoh?
    • It would have made more sense for them to travel to Alola to get past border patrol, since all the playable Pokemon in Smash are usuable in Alola. Plus, their inital plan was to revive them via Pokemon Center.
      • A meta explanation is that the comic is influenced by game releases and times comic releases to them, so the Smashers went to Sinnoh since Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were releasing around the time.
      • They took the Legendary Pokemon into account, and considering who Arceus is, Sinnoh may have been their best choice.
  • Assuming that two BoTW Links could exist within the same time (since the plan to revive Link involved transporting the alive version from 100 years in the future back to present day where his corpse still remains), couldn't the rescue team also have used Dialga and Palkia to travel back to the dinner scene before Sephiroth poisoned everyone? Interfering his plans at that time would save a lot of time and possibly more fighters from dying.
    • That might cause a paradox due to either Never the Selves Shall Meet or Sephiroth poisoning everyone being a fixed point in time.
    • Actually, in Hellraisers, they were considering doing that, but Sephiroth intervenes with Giratina.
      • Actually, they were planning to have Xerneas revive everyone.
    • Even if they did successfully prevent the poisoning, there then wouldn't be any need to go back in time, which means they never would have stopped Sephiroth from killing everyone, creating a Grandfather Paradox, so it would be doomed to failure.
    • Alternatively, the time travel works on multiverse theory. Them going back to the past to save the fighters from being poisoned wouldn't change anything when they come back to the present so they would still have to revive everyone.
  • Why did Steve wait until One Night Steve to come out of Bayonetta's room?
    • Probably Rule of Funny.
    • And his nature as a Troll as well. Remember the second Zoom meeting? That would be his perfect defining character moment.
  • Why didn't Shulk (or Lucario for that matter) sense something wrong at the dinner? They have abilities that might have saved them from getting poisoned.
    • Shulk can only get visions if he has the Monado in hand. Two factors would play into him not knowing the dinner would go so wrong. One, the dinner was meant to be a joyous occasion, so one would let their guard down easily. Two, he probably didn't have the Monado at hand.
  • Considering the mess that is the Zelda timeline, how did Toon Link's grandmother manage to travel through time and space, let alone know which time period her grandson's body was in, and in regards to that, how did she know that he needed to be revived?
    • The series seems to be playing loose with the timeline, given the various characters present from different points of their series’ timeline.
  • How is Incineroar capable of speaking in a Human Language in the first place? He's a regular Pokémon after all.
    • In-Universe Translation Convection?
      • But that doesn't make sense. Aside from Mewtwo or Lucario (who do have an explanation) all of the other Pokémon use Pokémon Speak, and the other characters make clear that they are able to understand what Incineroar is saying.
      • Perhaps Incineroar is special that way. After all, Lucario and Mewtwo aren't that talkative. And Pikachu did speak in one early comic then went back to his usual Pokémon Speak.
      • That would make him a lot similar to Team Rocket Trio's Meowth, who also speaks English, despite Meowths being normally unable to. There's some Fridge Brilliance behind that as well: both Meowths and Incineroars resemble cats.
      • Counterpoint to this. Team Rocket's Meowth sacrificed his combat abilities in order to be able to speak, but Incineroar is capable of both just fine.
      • It should also be noted that Sakurai himself speaks fluent English. While he can speak some English in real life, he mostly speaks his native Japanese (although this is for conveinence's sake)
  • How did camping revive Hero? In Dragon Quest XI, camping fully heals your alive party members but the dead ones stay dead.
  • In “Go Touch Some Grace”, Sephiroth appears to have the Poké Balls of the legendary Pokémon that he took from the other fighters in “Hellraisers”? How did he get a hold of their Poké Balls? He may have taken the Pokémon themselves in that comic, but he didn’t appear to have taken their Poké Balls.
    • Maybe he had some lying extra ones around.
    • Maybe Giratina swiped them off panel?
  • Why didn't Bandana Waddle Dee use the Galactic NOVA to revive all the other Smashers in addition to Dedede?
    • Bandana Dee in this universe may be loyal to Dedede, and that loyalty had him revive him only, but if that were the case, why did he also fix the Inkling's faces in the process?
    • The Smashers can only be revived through methods originating from their home series. But that presents more questions:
      • There were multiple cases of Loophole Abuse, such as Sonic being revived by rings from Elden Ring and Snake being revived through the Rewind Spring.
      • Meta Knight could also have been revived at the same time as Dedede.
    • If Bandana Dee did that, there's a chance that Sephiroth could be made aware of the Galactic NOVA and use it to permanently kill all the Smashers.
  • How did Rosalina's hair grow back so quickly? Incineroar shaved her head completely before reviving her and in turn she used part of his fur as a wig, but by the time the crew went to revive the Zelda fighters, her hair had already fully grown back.
    • Maybe she used her magic?
  • Why was Peach the one to use the Aum Staff instead of Celica herself? Even with the princess clause, Celica is the princess of Zofia. And it's not like magic users from Valentia can't use staves (see Fire Emblem Heroes). Plus, Daisy and Zelda also fit the princess criteria (Because contrary to popular belief, Rosalina is not a princess).
    • Obviously, whenever something that requires a pure-hearted Princess happens, Mario vetoes the whole thing so Peach is the only pure princess in the entire universe, never mind that Kairi is a Spirit in Ultimate and is given actual lore behind her purity in her home series.
    • Incineroar probably just went with the first princess he thought of and Alm and Celica didn't bother telling him otherwise, since the result would be the same.
  • How were they able to revive Cloud with Kazooie? She's a Breegull not a Phoenix.
    • Rule of Funny. Plus it might be a loophole about her being similar enough, like when K. Rool was revived in Hyrule.
    • As noted on the Fridge page, Breegulls resemble the real life bird Hoatzin, who resembles a phoenix. Also, in the Pokemon world, Kazooie disguised herself as Ho-Oh, who also resembles a Phoenix.
  • A few Goombas can be seen in Sephiroth's army to invade the Smash house. Why? Their boss was one of his victims.
    • They were likely counting on Sephiroth's We Can Rule Together to work on Bowser. Unfortunately for them, it didn't.
    • The fact Lakitu, another one of Bowser's minions, is on the Smashers' side makes it even more confusing. Though Lakitu's motive for helping the Smashers' may be that he's been working for the house since the debut of Smash Bros., being the one in charge of the trailers (he used Kazuya's reveal trailer to determine Kirby survived the poisoning).
  • Lady Dimitrescu had a few positive interactions with the Smash gang. Why did she join Sephiroth's army against them then?
    • Perhaps she did it For the Lulz?
    • Well, Wario DID grab her butt (and pin the blame on Luigi) at one point, and Isabelle DID basically kidnap one of her daughters at another.
  • Whatever became of the Great Fairy who wanted to force Luigi to marry her? The plotline seems to have been left unsolved.
  • Where the hell has Sakurai been? He was inexplicably absent for the entire Sephiroth arc.
    • My guess is that given that he created Kirby and the Super Smash Bros. games, he could have easily brought everyone back to life and slammed Sephiroth for his actions. As such, he was written out to preserve drama.
    • Alternatively, the author no longer feels right about writing him into comics, as, in an interview, the real Sakurai has said he doesn't want people using his face or icons as a mouthpiece to say things he's never said. WPS probably didn't want to risk a fictionalized version of him fulfilling that criteria (especially since the comic's Sakurai has been used to poke fun at things like the amount of Fire Emblem characters in the game, or him ostensibly favoring Kirby characters), so the Smash House is now run independently by the fighters with Isabelle taking up managerial duties.
  • Why is Chrom so insistent in trying to flirt with other people even though he is already married?
  • Why did Incineroar steal Miraidon from a kid? He already has a Legendary (he initiated the Wonder Trade that brought Xerneas in the Smashers' possession, meaning he owns Xerneas). Of course, that brings some Fridge Horror regarding Xerneas...
    • The implication was that the group needed Pokemon well-suited for transportation at the time, not super-strong Pokemon. Xerneas wasn't obtainable in Paldea at the time of the comic's writing, so it would have stuck out too much (or been caught by the Paldea Border Patrol), and it likely isn't accustomed to being ridden. Contrast this with Miraidon, which is adapted to transporting people and blends in because people in-game think it's just a weird Cyclizar.
      • Actually, as of the Indigo Disk, its impossible to have a Xerneas in Scarlet & Violet, so it would have been caught by the Border Patrol regardless.
  • Why did Villager help the fighters in the revival quest and not accept Sephiroth's We Can Rule Together proposal, but then seemingly turned against the fighters and joined the Mauses when they take over the Smash House?
    • Sephiroth literally killed him. He has the most basic of standards.
  • How were the Mauses able to enslave everyone in the Smash House? The house has some strongest and most powerful fighters so how were they able to capture everyone? It just makes the fighters seem really incompetent that they can't get rid of a bunch of mouse Pokemon.
