Why can’t people love the one behind the mask?
- "Cloud's Strife" has a surprisingly brutal ending: Cloud swiftly destroys the Legend of Zelda 35th-anniversary cake Sephiroth and Squirtle made for Zelda herself. But then Cloud realizes what he just did, and the horror in his expression speaks volumes. It gets worse when it's revealed that Sephiroth was truly faking his Heel–Face Turn and acted horrified just to push Cloud into even more despair.
- Sephiroth and Squirtle's reactions don't help much, either: Sephiroth cradles the destroyed cake, looking genuinely despondent (though it's all an act)note . And Squirtle is practically on the verge of tears. You can't help feeling sorry for it...
- Really, the fact that Cloud was Properly Paranoid and was feeling remorse over everything he did, only to find out that he was right this entire time with Sephiroth gloating that everyone fell for that long con and Cloud could do nothing as the poison takes his life. Naturally his I Warned You rant is well deserved.
- In "Hellraisers", poor Sora has to watch Arceus and the other Legendaries get taken by Sephiroth, and the distress and panic on his face are evident.
- Bayonetta can be seen in a depressed state in "Robot Reboot
" eating ice cream after Simon finds out about her legitimately false night-stand with Steve and dumps her for Dark Samus. She's not even wearing the Ms. Fanservice costume she usually wears. Thankfully, Bayonetta decides that she has had enough of being depressed and revives Ryu, Ken, and Terry (with help from Scorpion) to serve as her personal harem and get back at Simon. - Mii Gunner just can't catch a break, either. Not only did she have to wear the Sans costume for attention (as seen in the page image), but she doesn't even get revived in "Miiracle Cure" due to Incineroar and Ryu thoroughly believing that Mii Gunner is really Sans. Fortunately, this is undone in the next comic, where the two seem to realize their mistake and bring the Gunner to the Mii Channel to revive her.
- "Status Report - Part 2" sees Byleth incredibly distraught at being poisoned, venting her frustrations to Sothis after her death. It's a small comfort that her assassination was nothing personal.Byleth: I've had such an uphill battle since joining this house. Remember how mad everyone was when I was announced? And now they actually straight up kill me? What did I do to deserve this?
- "Lynel Loss" shows that even a tale featuring the most dreaded of the enemies in Hyrule can pull at your heartstrings by invoking Outliving One's Offspring when a Lynel couple loses their beloved child in a Hinox attack.
- The bonus panel for "Planter Banter" has Kazuya sadly watch his Piranha Plant child hop away with the dancing Piranha Plants.
